Re: Rate the Legends Room - Day 3: Quicksand Bog/Pharaoh's Secret Passage
« Reply #15 on: December 03, 2012, 03:58:17 PM »
For this one, I included the Quicksand Bog and Secret Passage as one entity. So vote based on both of those elements.

Regardless, I gave the Quicksand Bog a 5. I never really understood all the love for this room. To be honest, all of the rooms in this room space were pretty lame. I did like the environment in the room with mirkiness and making it hard for the contestant to walk through. But the slide was pretty lame and the room wasn't really much different than the Mine Shaft or Well except it was harder to navigate in. I always wonder how some contestants like Zac and Kevin were able to walk up the slide like it was no problem. :o

Although the room was not particularly difficult, the Quicksand Bog was the best use of that space, in my opinion. If the path forced a team up the slide, the contestants were able to progress as quickly as they could get up the slide, rather than be confined by the speed (or lack thereof) of an elevator/bucket. And at the same time, the room was more elaborate than the Dungeon. Plus, I don't know why, but the temple guard captures in the Quicksand Bog seemed pretty epic when I was younger, with the guard bursting out of the Styrofoam blocks and all. I rated the Quicksand Bog with a 6.

Yeah, if there was one thing that I liked about the Quicksand Bog and Pharaoh's Secret Slide, it was the only true room in that room space that tested the contestant's ability to navigate through the room. Contestants like Zac, Katie from "Imperial Wizard", and Kevin had no problem navigating through the room or up the slide. Meanwhile, Karisa got lost in the Quicksand Bog and Pat and Kimberly had trouble climbing up the slide. There was a degree of skill required to complete the room, unlike the lame Mine Shaft/Well.

I'll give this a 7 as well. It was a cool room, even though there wasn't much to it but a slide and a bunch of blocks.

I gave it a 5. One of the easiest rooms of season 3, but way better than what was there before.

Oops, almost forgot to include the new poll. The next room up is the Spider's Lair. Hang tight though for a few minutes, I need to tally and set up the poll for the new day. ;)

Okay, the new poll is set up for the Spider's Lair now.

Anyways, I gave the room a score of a 3. The room was pretty lame and poorly executed. The webbing was useless and didn't really prevent the contestants from traversing through it. They could just walk through the back of the room in order to get around it easily. Plus, it was so thin that I am not sure how a contestant could make it to one of the upper rooms. It was an alright concept, but they could've done better. Probably the lamest variation of the Swamp on the show. Hardly any contestant entered the room anyways.

I give it a 2. It was just a useless room with webbing in it. And like stated above, hardly anyone ever entered that room.

I wonder why they changed that room so much on the show. No other room really had that many changes, yet this room space went through a total of four different rooms. I also thought it was unusual that they brought the Swamp back for a little bit too. Too bad we didn't see much of the Bamboo Forest. What was the point of using it for five episodes?

Five: Swamp, Bamboo Forest, Spider's Lair, Holes of Python, Jesters' Court. ;)

I meant specifically in season one. There were four rooms used total in that one season alone. That is an incredible number of rooms used.  Sorry for not clearing that up earlier.

And the next room is going to be the Ancient Warriors. ;)

I gave the Room of the Ancient Warriors a score of an 8. I thought it was a solid and memorable room on the show. Some of the most memorable temple guard encounters were in that room. Like the guards from "Ivan the Terrible" and "Jedediah Smith". :P Also, the temple guard captures were unique compared to the other rooms on the show besides the Dark Forest. The objective was pretty good also and it wasn't too challenging. On the downside though, I always felt the room was cramped and too small. I also missed the ladders that went down to the Jester's Court. They could've really made some interesting layouts if they kept it. But it is truly an awesome room.

I give it an 8 as well, one of the better Season 3 rooms.

I think this is the 4th best room of all time (Only the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, Jester's Court, and the Laser Light Room is better) I gave it a 9!

I was actually going to give it a 9 because the room was so unique and definitely one of the most creative rooms on the show. But the cramped space turned me off though and a handful of rooms deserve better scores. But it is definitely one of my top 5 rooms on the show. I won't say what other 4 rooms I like better though. I will wait until the time comes.  :mrred:
