Overall: 7.25NOTES:This was a great episode! Every round of this show was close, from the moat, all the way down to the temple run. On the Steps of Knowledge, TJ and Stacy were very smart and answered all their questions for their respective teams. Randy and Ryan also got an answer in there somewhere, so I still gave them a pretty good score. The temple games were a close competition between the Purple Parrots and the Green Monkeys. The Parrots especially had a VERY close call in the last temple game. Randy grabbed the last beard in the last seconds and came right from behind and tied the game up. Now let's get real here, the Purple Parrots totally have a bad track record when it comes to tiebreakers. And this is THE ONLY TIME THEY EVER WIN A TIEBREAKER! Trust me, there are a bunch of episodes that would've been better if Purple won instead. And the temple run was amazing. TJ was very quick and blazed through the bottom floor within a minute. Randy was even faster, and even grabbed the Metal Beard with under a minute left. She took a bizarre route out of the temple, but that should NOT detract from her progress. She made it back to the temple gates with 5 seconds to spare. Great job, very underrated win. I never understood why no one likes this win. By looking at the Green Monkey's scores, they also did a pretty good job and nobody got a below a 6, which is pretty impressive. But, it just wasn't enough to beat TJ and Randy.

Overall: 7NOTES:This was a decent episode. During the moat, it seemed like all the teams struggled, and it took a while. Even Josh and Maggie kind of struggled, but they weren't as bad as the other teams. The Steps of Knowledge were a double sweep between the Blue Barracudas and the Green Monkeys. I personally like double sweeps, even though it made the round feel very rushed. Kirk was pretty annoying during the temple games. After he asks if the teams are ready, he loudly (and sarcastically) blurts out "Oh yeah, ME TOO!" And after the Blue Barracudas win the final temple game, there's this weird voiceover where Kirk says "Great teamwork guys!" That's obviously not something Kirk originally said, and he says "I had rocks in my mouth" to the Green Monkeys not long after. I don't know what happened there.

Not much else to say except Alexandra sucked, and that's pretty much why her team didn't go to the temple. And the temple run.... was pretty bizarre. We all know Maggie dropped her pendant and was removed in only three rooms because of it. It's definitely something I do NOT hold against her, and a "7" is a pretty fitting score for her. Josh was pretty fast, and kudos to him for finding Maggie's pendant. Unfortunately, he made a MAJOR mistake of not following Maggie's bottom path. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but this was a huge mistake of Josh to do and he should've just stuck to the bottom floor. You should never take a different path with less than 2 pendants unless it's shorter. That said though, Josh made great time across the top floor, even though he did eventually get captured with about 50 seconds left on the clock. Methinks it was Josh and Maggie's plan all along to follow across the bottom floor. It was just Maggie couldn't get back on the platform. Good team, just bad luck.

Overall: 7.25NOTES: Nothing special about this episode really. It was just an average episode all around. The Steps of Knowledge was pretty close though, and both losing teams answered at least 2 questions correctly. Jennifer of the Purple Parrots was especially smart during the Steps. Both teams did an okay job during the temple games, and the Purple Parrots were pretty strong. But, it just wasn't enough to beat Dean and Chrystine. the temple run wasn't too exciting, and Dean hesitated on many occasions. Chrystine was pretty fast and did well in the minute she had. She did unfortunately, pass up the half pendant though. But the pendant was tacked way too high on the Pit walls, so I don't blame her one bit for missing it. Even if she did find the half pendant, she still wouldn't have reached the Turban with a mere 14 seconds to go. This was not only the last triple capture on the show, but it was done in the shortest time ever. It's funny how the first triple capture "Golden Ship" was finished in the quickest time ever.

Overall: 6.5NOTES:I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I happen to like this episode. The temple run might've sucked, but the rest of the episode was very exciting actually. The Orange Iguanas did pretty well in the moat, and ended up being first to finish. The Purple Parrots struggled quite a bit on the other hand, and were the last team across. The Steps of Knowledge was yet another close round, it was like any one of these teams could've faced off in the temple games. The Orange Iguanas were pretty smart during the steps, and their final answer was answered by both players, so great teamwork there. The Purple Parrots were pretty smart as well, and I especially liked one of the answered Brook gave. She says "I forget what it's called...." much like Joe's "The tudors or whatever...." answer in Golden Ship. Alas, her answer was still acceptable and enough to join the Orange Iguanas on the final step. The temple games were a close round and featured a unique setup. I especially loved Jennifer's faceplant at the beginning of the third game.

But she recovered quickly and won the game for the Iguanas at the last second. Although the final waxed head did miss the bucket because Jennifer threw it in there violently. She threw it in the bin, but it bounced right back out. I'm wondering if that would still count, or if a tiebreaker should've been forced. Even if it did come down to a tiebreaker, the Iguanas were still gonna beat out the Parrots anyways. Since they never have good luck in the tiebreaker, unlike one of the aforementioned episodes. As for the temple run, it pretty much sucked. The layout was exactly like Lost Hornpipe, only they actually had access to the King's Storeroom, and they lost. Nicholas is 100% to blame for why this team lost. He just had no idea what he was doing and he moved much too slowly. While traversing the central shaft is never an easy feat, it should never take you 2:20+ minutes to clear out those rooms. All that hesitation and the little time remaining when Nicholas finally DID get captured is basically why this team lost. Furthermore, I find Jennifer very underrated around here. If it's any player who gets "undeserved hate," it's her. I'm sorry a contestant can't run all the way to the very bottom corner of the temple, reach an artifact, and win in 40 seconds. I happened to think Jennifer did great in the time she had left. She pulled her weight just fine, her only hesitations were in the Pit, and she made it one room
ahead of Nicholas. Plus, she almost assembled the monkey in time, which she did in a very effective fashion. She simply did not have enough time to make any reason progress, though a "6" is a fitting score for her. I just don't understand how she's comparable to Dana and Lauren. Who unlike Jennifer, did NOTHING with the little time they had. She had every right to yell at Nicholas, and I don't think she meant anything mal-intended with her shouting. She just sounded overexcited, not downright angry like Dana did. She's certainly not a terrible person she's made out to be and she wasn't clueless or a bad player at all. If Brian from Bent Shaving Pan gets a free pass for not making up for lost time, so should Jennifer. She's by far of the most underrated players ever, and Nicholas was completely to blame for why they lost. Perhaps if Jennifer had gone in first and used the King's Storeroom entry way, this team would've had a much better chance at reaching the Melted Head.
Overall, this was a pretty good filming day. It's funny how 3/4 of the artifacts were middle eastern themed. Even though Metal Beard was the only win that day, none of the episodes were truly bad in any way. And it's much better than some of the other filming days in Season 3.
