Season Four Rooms
« on: November 24, 2012, 09:22:22 AM »
A number of rooms of the temple changed from one season to the next, as well as between different layouts of the same season. Going from Season 1 to Season 2, the Shrine of the Silver Monkey and Heart Room (briefly) stayed the same, they kept the Troubled Bridge around, they reused the Mineshaft, and the Observatory kept its name. In transitioning from Season 2 to Season 3, the King's Storeroom was moved to a new location but kept its name and objective, and the Shrine of the Silver Monkey, Secret Password, Dark Forest, Jesters' Court, Crypt, and Ledges stayed as they were.

If a fourth season of LOTHT happened, which rooms do you think would have been changed, and which ones do you think would have appeared again? (And just to clarify, I mean a fourth season directly after the third; not nowadays, since the entire design and style of the show may have been changed if a remake of the show came about.)

This is how I see it:

Crypt: Maybe it would stay again, but I think it would be time for this room to go.

Pit of the Pendulum: Definitely will change.

King's Storeroom: I say this one would stay, even in the exact room space.

Ancient Warriors: I say it would go and it would've been nice if they brought back the ladders leading to the rooms below.

Shrine: No way this will change. They better not even think of changing it. :P

Secret Password: I think this one would change.

Quicksand Bog: I'd imagine this one would change too.

Dark Forest: I would personally keep this room for another season. It had a unique design and the temple spirit captures were pretty unique also.

Jesters' Court: I would personally keep this one. It was better than all thse lame Swamp rooms.

Headless Kings: It really should go as it was overused in season three and I get tired of watching it all the time.

Chamber of the Sacred Markers: I say it should change also.

Ledges: Probably should change it up.

I agree that the upper entrance room and Pit would have probably changed, but I don't think the Ledges would have changed much. Even in Season One, it was the Cave of Sighs, and the only difference between Seasons 1 and 2 (besides the name change) was how the contestants initially entered the room. I doubt that they would have ever thought of getting rid of the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.

I also think that the Tomb of the Headless Kings, Secret Password, and Ancient Warriors would have been changed. The Tomb was excessively time consuming and cramped. The Secret Password was already used in Seasons 2 and 3, so I think the producers would have wanted to have something new there. And the Ancient Warriors was kind of cramped, though I greatly enjoyed the "random chance" of a temple guard being behind one of the three headdresses.

I disagree with keeping the Dark Forest, King's Storeroom, and Jesters' Court. While I enjoyed those rooms' objectives and unique designs, I don't know if the producers would have kept them for a third season. I don't think that these were "staple rooms" like the Shrine of the Silver Monkey.

I think there was a chance that they would have kept the Chamber of the Sacred Markers and the Pharaoh's Secret Passage. The Chamber was a nice use of the space, with the objective being straight-forward but somewhat difficult. The multiple temple guard locations within the room also added to the creativity of the room. I liked the use of the slide for the Pharaoh's Secret Passage in place of a bucket or elevator for the far-left end of the temple, because the contestants were able to continue to progress as quickly as they were able to move. While I'm not sure if the Passageway would have entered into the Quicksand Bog, I think the producers would have kept this idea rather than revert back to a Mineshaft type of room.

I always felt that the Dark Forest and King's Storeroom were staple rooms on the show similar to the Shrine. They were so unique and memorable that when you think about Legends, those rooms usually pop out. That is how I felt about them anyways. Its possible that they would switch those rooms up if they had another season. But I felt both rooms had a mix balance of difficulty and time consumption compared to other rooms.

I say though that the Crypt needed to be changed even though it was on the show as long as the above two rooms. It was very memorable and better than its season one counterparts, but I felt that it was due for a change.

And for the Ledges, I wouldn't have mind a replacement similar to it like they when they replaced the Cave of Sighs.

And I definitely wanted to see the Tomb of the Ancient Kings so. It was so annoying to watch every episode a contestant enter there and struggle to complete due to how time consuming it was. Plus it was cramped like you mentioned. I feel the same way about the Quicksand Bog, although I would take it in a heartbeat over the lame Mine Shaft/Well.

As for the others, I wouldn't have mind really seeing them go. Although I would've kind of missed the Jesters' Court.
