Welcome Back, Guts!

Quote
NEW YORK, May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- GUTS, the groundbreaking, original hit game show from the '90s, is being recreated for a new generation of families as Nick at Nite greenlights My Family's Got Guts, a new extreme sports competition series. Nick at Nite will commence production on two 10-episode tournaments, (20 new half-hour episodes and two hour-long specials), created and executive produced by the digital entertainment studio Worldwide Biggies. The series will be shot on location at Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., beginning in August and is scheduled to premiere in prime time on Nick at Nite in fall 2008 with the finale on the Worldwide Day of Play.

Well, at least for a little while.

Next question: will either Mo or Mike be back?

Last I saw, they were still looking for a host, so keep your fingers crossed! I also heard that they are going to film in stage 21, where the original GUTS and Global GUTS were filmed. Now if only they could bring back the original set...

Ah, it was 21, not 22? I must have mixed up the number at some point in time. Why hasn't anybody else on the forum responded to this?

I really hope they will, but they probably won't. Nickelodeon will most likely pick out new hosts :p I hope they at least pick out decent hosts if Mike and Moira don't come back, remember DD2K? The host made the game boring.

I would argue that it wasn't Jason Harris' fault as much as it was the revised format. The whole "Triple Dare Challenge" distraction took way, way too much time out of the program between introducing it with backflipping monkeys and then, in the second round, spending so much time anticipating the team's decision whether to take it or not. The show was boring because it was designed to waste time instead of cram as much material in as possible.

Hopefully this redux GUTS will squeeze as mush excitement in as possible. Thankfully, there's less flexibility with the show's structure in GUTS as in Double Dare, though the fact that each round of play will be worth progressively more points will certainly allow a lot of undeserved victories.

And the sad thing is, I know Nickelodeon will find way to disappoint me. I am not its core audience.

The triple dare challenge was bad too, I bet they purposely wasted time so they wouldn't have to give out as much money. There weren't enough physical challenges either, that's what I wanted to see.

Yeah, I can't really see how you could waste time with GUTS. I just hope they won't be like the new Gladiators and go to a commercial break seconds before an event begins, it doesn't bring up suspense, it's annoying.

I know Nickelodeon will find a way to disappoint me and I AM apart of it's core audience

All I can say about the new GUTS is that:
A. Mike N' Mo come back
B. They use a format that is close to GUTS and Global GUTS
C. They use the same victory salute so that someone can make a midi (or equivalent) file of it for me.

But then again, just like Ed, I JUST KNOW that Nick will find some way to disappoint me. (Being that I'm WAY OUTSIDE their core audience at age 21)

Those commercial breaks during American Gladiators really are dumb, but what's dumber is that they cut 2 events out of every broadcast, and the only way you can see them is to watch the episode again on NBC.com

On subject, a GUTS revival sounds interesting. Hopefully it's not a hoax.

Really? Dang, that sounds like it spoils the game a bit. I haven't been watching AG much anyways, I can't sit still and watch something for an hour, I have short attention span. Going back on topic, I think the new GUTS is suppose to be half an hour an episode, like the original version and there's suppose to be a couple of hour or two long specials. GUTS and Legends are one of the few shows I can sit still and watch about half an hour of. Most of the time I just watch 15 minutes of tv, run around and do stuff, then take advantage of the rewind feature of the DVR.

Definatly not a hoax, but a potential disappointment depending on what you want to see from it. I'll probably somewhat disappointed seeing as their's an unlikely chance of seeing Mike or Moira on there, but it's better to learn to accept that a while before it goes on the air. I hope the arena looks the same, back in '94 and '95 the arena looked pretty awesome for it being the early to mid 90's.
