The Chamber of the Sacred Markers / Top 3 Wins by Team - Red Jaguars
« on: December 25, 2013, 01:25:39 AM »
Merry Christmas! Time for a new poll, and this one is similar to the "Top 5 Wins by Season" poll we had recently. This time around, we are voting for the best 3 wins for each team color. For each team, I will hold a daily poll and you must vote for the 3 best wins. When voting for which win to choose, try to compare them to other wins from the same team. For example, don't compare Red Jaguar wins with Orange Iguanas wins when you are voting for the Jaguar ones.

Once we collected the top 3 wins for each team, I will hold a final poll for each team where you will vote for their best win on the whole show. Since the Purple Parrots only have 3 wins, we will skip them the first time around. But I will make one poll later to decide the best win for that team. ;)

We will start off with the Silver Snakes.  :mrsilver:

The Shrine of the Silver Monkey was definitely the most iconic temple room on the show, appearing in all 3 seasons and being completed more than half of the time on the show. It is the first thing that people remember about this show when they go back and watch it.

I have been reading a lot of posts on other sites like Facebook and Reddit, and other Legends fans almost always bring up about how "impossible" the Shrine was. They make it seem like it was rare for a contestant to complete the Silver Monkey without a struggle. Do you think that fans tend to over exaggerate about the Shrine's difficulty level?

Honestly, I don't think the Shrine is as tough as people make it out to be. Maybe it is because I have seen every temple run many times, but I don't feel that the Shrine is difficult at all. Most of the contestants completed it just fine. The average completion time was probably 15-19 seconds for it. Of course, there were a few people like Larry, Kristen (Amelia Earhart), Jeremy (Robert the Bruce), Jessica (Pirate Captain), and Kim (Missing Weather Maps) who struggled pretty badly with this room. But those contestants were lost causes, and they sucked from the start.

Do you guys feel that the Shrine is as difficult as people make it out to be? Or do people over exaggerate about the difficulty level?

Time for a new poll for the Chamber of the Sacred Markers.  :mrred: This time around, we are voting for the top 5 wins of each season on the show. There were a total of 32 wins on the show (12 in S1, 10 in S2, 10 in S3) and a lot of them get mixed reviews. Most of the time when we compare wins, we do them against each other. In this poll though, we are finding the best 5 wins from each individual season. So when you are choosing the best 5 wins, remember you are comparing them to other wins from that season. You can also choose the best 5 wins for any reason you like. Whether it be player performance, temple run quality, memorableness, etc. So just like the other polls, you must choose 5 options on the list and the winners will be selected for the final poll. ;)

Results:

Season 1
T1. Galileo's Cannonball (8 votes)
T1. John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine (8 votes)

I have been reading a lot of old posts over the past few weeks, and I am honestly surprised on how much this run got criticized over the years. We know the whole story about this run: Aqila passes up the Golden Pepperoni as she enters the Room of the Secret Password with mere seconds on the clock. In the end, she misses the Pepperoni as she mistakenly runs for the Mine Shaft elevator.

In my opinion, this has to be the most criticized and maligned run on the show. Sure, Aqila passing up the Pepperoni was a bone-headed mistake. But if she never did that in the first place, would people criticize her for being so stupid? She honestly was not even a bad player at all. She enter the temple with two minutes and completed the Laser Light Room, Jester's Court, King's Storeroom, and the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. And she still reached the room of the artifact. She also found the half-pendant too. If she had 3-4 seconds to herself, she would've reached the Pepperoni. Honestly, if it wasn't for the temple ending, then I don't think this run would get all of the bad press it gets.

What do you guys think about this run?

Time for another Legends poll and this time we are trying to find the best 3 temple losses by team. Just like the other polls, everyday I will post a poll dedicated to one of the six teams on the show and you must select their three best losses on the show. What makes a loss good? You can decide for yourself. Maybe it could depend on the team's performance or how memorable and exciting it was? Whatever the reason is, you must choose up to 3 losses for each team. The 3 losses with the most after 24 hours will make the top 3 list for each team. Remember, this poll is dedicated to the LOSSES only. ;)

Best Losses:

Red Jaguars
1. The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea (4)
2. The Jeweled Necklace of Montezuma (4)

The Heart Room / The Biggest Mysteries on Legends?
« on: November 21, 2013, 02:33:29 AM »
Just to start some sort of discussion, what are some of the biggest mysteries on the show that are left unsolved? I am sure that there are many questions that have been left unanswered, so I want to recap each of them in this topic. You can post whatever you felt was a mystery, whether it was trivial or not. Right now, I am going to highlight some of the main ones in this post:

"Blackbeard's Treasure Map"

Mystery:
This episode has confused many fans because of how it is labeled as "Episode 1". As you can tell from the actual episode, this was NOT the first episode ever produced on the show as it uses S1L5 like other episodes that day including Leonardo Da Vinci and Oracle Bowl. "The Golden Cup of Belshazzar" was definitely the first episode produced and the one that took 18 hours. So why is Blackbeard listed as "Episode 1" then? Explanation below.

Possible Explanation:
There is a couple of theories on why Blackbeard is labeled "Episode 1". The main theory is that Blackbeard was meant to be an episode part of S1L1 like Belshazzar and Dead Man's Hand, but the producers postponed it to S1L5 because of time constraints or some other reason. Which explains why the editing is pretty bad, because the producers probably rushed it. The second theory is that Blackbeard was the first episode edited by the producers, which could also explain the poor editing too. It was definitely not the first episode produced though.

"The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale"

Mystery:
This episode is another very quirky episode that has gotten a lot of discussion. The majority of this episode was produced in S2L1 with Butch Cassidy, Golden Stallion, and Grandy Nanny. But the actual temple run though was part of the S2L5 layout, and was obviously produced right after "Billy the Kid" and before "Golden Pepperoni". Why the layout change? A lot of details changed between the temple games and temple run. The Secret Battle Plan was originally located in the Throne Room (which can be seen during the temple games), but it is "officially" located in the Shrine. Yet, when Olmec reveals the Battle Plan's artifact location, we don't get a close-up of it like other artifacts. Why did this run change layouts anyways?

Possible Explanations:
- The first theory was that Christina got sick during the temple run and they had to postpone it to a later date. I am not really convinced with this theory though and nothing to back it up.

- The second theory involves the King's Storeroom pots during the original temple run. In Season 2, if a team does not break the pots in the King's Storeroom, then the producers use the same pots again for the next episode. The official production order for S2L1 was Butch Cassidy, Nathan Hale, Golden Stallion, and Grandy Nanny. Butch Cassidy's pots were never broken, but the pots in Golden Stallion were different. As a result, something might've happened with the pots in the King's Storeroom during the original Nathan Hale run, and that explains why it might've been postponed. After all, there were two keys in one of the King's Storeroom pots during the Grandy Nanny run.

Any other mysteries that you guys want to talk about or add?

I want to take the time to discuss two of the most forgettable runs from Season 1 - "The Silver Saddle Horn of Hannibal" and "The Golden Chains of Zenobia". In those temple runs, both Vicky and Justin hit a dead end in the Treasure Room where they open the treasure chest up but it is apparently locked. Yet, Kirk comments that both Vicky and Justin had to "press the actuators" inside of the treasure chest in order for it to open. So my question is were there really actuators inside of the Treasure Chest that both players had to push?

Some websites have criticized Vicky in particular because they said that the Treasure Chest was suppose to work for her but she didn't complete it properly. Further evidence of this is the temple guard placement in the Holes of Python in the Silver Saddle Horn run. The temple guard was located after the Treasure Room ladder, which makes it seem like that Vicky should've been able to go down from that room. But in the "Geronimo" temple run, all Mitchell had to do was open the Treasure Chest and it worked for him

My question is did Justin and Vicky fail to complete the Treasure Room objective the right way? Or did Kirk not know what he was talking about when he said that they had to press actuators inside of the Treasure Chest?

53
We are always talking about how certain teams had hard layouts on the show, so I figured it was time to make a poll to determine the hardest layout for each of the six teams. What makes a hard layout? Maybe it had to do with the number of rooms a team had to enter or maybe it involved a tricky temple guard placement. It could even be something else like one filled with deadends. Every day I will hold a poll for all six teams and you must choose 3 of the hardest layouts for each team. ;)

Since we were talking about Katie and Jared from Imperial Wizard lacking team chemistry, I thought why not ask the question here? Anyways, what are some of the teams do you think lacked chemistry on the show. This could be a team where the players hardly interact with each other or a team where one of the players looks like they don't want to be on the show. For me, these teams look like they had no chemistry:

- Fred and Ron (Anne Bonny) - Fred was definitely having a good time on the show, but it looked like Ron was in another world. I don't think Ron said a single word in their episode. Fred was getting into the show though from her temple game interview to her cheering for her idiot partner in the temple. In fact, Fred was one of the very few contestants from S1 to actually cheer. Ron looked clueless throughout this episode.

- Tracy and Robert (Snake Bracelet) - Tracy looked like she didn't want to be on the show at all. Once again, Robert was the one that lead the whole team through the show. He also seemed very active compared to Tracy. She didn't even crack a smile when she brought the artifact back to the temple gates.

- Janeen and Jay (Empress Eugenie) - I think this one was pretty obvious from the temple run at least. I don't know, Jay seemed like the type of contestant that was only worried about himself. I don't remember him and Janeen interacting much. Although I can't blame him for getting mad at her in the temple. She just couldn't get her act together.   A contestant like Kate (Mary Shelley) would've complemented Jay's personality.

Welcome to the Legends of the Hidden Temple "Best Legends Female Player" tournament! It's been a year since we held some type of tournament on this forum, so I thought we try something different. In this tournament, we are trying to figure out the best female player on the show. Every day I will hold a series of different matchups that will feature two females on the show. Each matchup is randomized by a RNG and there are a total of 32 girls featured total. The featured girls were one that I picked from elimination games and ranking lists. Hopefully the girls I chose were agreeable too. I excluded players like Annie (Benzibab) and Kelly (Billy the Kid) because they only lasted 3 rooms and don't really belong in this tournament. May the best girl win!

Bracket:

http://www.bracketmaker.com/tmenu.cfm?edit=1&tid=448560&tclass=

RULES:
- Each matchup will be open for a total of 24 hours. Once that window of time is up, the winner of the poll will be revealed.
- You are allowed to change your vote anytime during the 24 hour window. But the last vote before time is up is the one that will be final.
- All you have to simply do is select which of the two wins that you feel deserves to progress longer.
- You don't have to reveal your vote to the public, that is only optional. Your vote will be confidential until the 24 hour time frame is up.
- Please vote in the poll! The more people that vote, the more fun this tournament will be. All it takes is less than 30 seconds to vote.
- Have fun!

Previous Results:
Kristin (Catherine the Great) beat Lea (Sultan Saladin) 5-1

Next Matchup:
Ashlie (The Bonnet of Dolley Madison)

vs.

Tara (The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary)

I have a new idea for a rating thread: rate the temple runs for each team color. I am not sure if I am going to cover each team, but I wanted to try out this idea first with the Purple Parrots. Basically, I will hold a poll everyday for each temple appearance of the Purple Parrots. You must rate each temple run on a scale of 1-10 like all of the other topics. When rating each Purple Parrots run, only compare them to OTHER Purple Parrot runs. Don't compare them to other Legends teams at all. The whole point of this topic is to find the best and worst runs for each team color.

Otherwise, you guys know how this works.  :mrpurple:

Previous Results:
Day One - "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief": 7.00
Day Two - "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi": 3.00
Day Three - "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid": 8.20

Featured Episode: "The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman"
Team: Brian and Gracelyn
Artifact Location: Dark Forest
Pendants: 1.5
Outcome: Triple Capture (0:44 seconds left on clock)

Let's start off with "The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief".  :mrpurple:

I was reading a few of the older topics around here, and I was surprised by my reaction to certain player performances. There are some players that I praised in the past even though I think they deserve criticism now. And at the same time, there has some players who I have criticized when I actually don't think they deserve it now. I am sure your opinion changes over time about certain players to. What are some players that you have changed your opinion on?

Here are some of mine:
- Aqila - I used to think she was a lost cause that ranked on the same level as Kim from "Charles Lindbergh". Now, I just think of Aqila as an average player who made a bad decision at the end of her run. I definitely don't think she was a horrible player like I use to.

- Tarrah - I use to think she was overrated, but after watching her run and seeing what she had to go through, I feel that she is one of the best girls on the show now. She had an amazing performance.

- Joel - Sometimes I think he isn't too bad, but other times I think he is overrated. This is probably the one contestant who my opinion changes about al the time.

- Ron - I use to think that he was an average guy that made a bad decision at the end of his run, but now I think of him as a male Karisa. He was so clueless in the temple and moved pretty slow too. He really blew it with that bad exit plan. More so than Tara from Sir Edmund Hillary did.

- Ashlie (Dolley Madison) - I use to criticize her a lot, but now I think she was a really good player despite her huge flaw in the Dark Forest. Her fast speed saved her from being a lost cause.

Every Legends team had that moment on the show where a certain event happened that caused them to lose in some dramatic way. In this thread, I want to make a list of the most tragic episodes for each team color. When I say "tragic moment", I am looking for an event that happened in an episode that was very disappointing and heartbreaking that caused the team to lose and screwed them over in one way or another. It doesn't have to be a bad moment, just an event that has a disappointing and distressing outcome.

Pretty much like my other polls, I will make a daily poll dedicated to each team on the show. I will include only temple losses in the poll because all the tragic moments came from those episodes obviously. The episode with the most votes will be featured for that particular team. Once we find the tragic moment for each team, we will make a final poll to find the most tragic moment on the show. ;)

RESULTS:

:jaguars2: - "The Treasure of Anne Bonny"

:barracudas2: - "The Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King"
