Title: Top 5 favorite Nick Game Shows?
Post by: The Red Jaguars on February 27, 2015, 02:37:42 PM
Nickelodeon had a handful of game shows over the years, especially in the 80's and 90's. What were your type 5 game shows from Nick?

Here's a list of some of the show game shows that appeared:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Nickelodeon_game_shows (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Nickelodeon_game_shows)

1.) Legends of the Hidden Temple - Probably the most unique game show out of the list. There is a reason why I post so much on this forum because there is a lot to talk about! Every round of this show was unique. In addition, it placed great emphasis on partnership where it was important to gain synergy with your partner. Every episode was unique too and no episode is the same.

2.) Double Dare - Fun game show and Marc Summers was a host. The obstacle course was fun and I enjoyed the different games the players/families had to beat in order to win. Some of them were unfair, but it was awesome to see them win in the end.

3.) Figure It Out - Never watched the remake version, but this one was pretty entertaining. It featured some of the stars from our other favorite Nick shows and the premise was interesting. Lori Beth and Danny were the best combination too. And some of the talents were amazing. The only downside was that the panelists started to suck at the end. And so did a lot of the contestants "talents".

4.) Guts - I would ranked this show higher, but it never really captured me like some of the other game shows on here. It had some nice events and the Aggro Crag was an entertaining final round. Mike O'Malley and Moira were awesome also. But my main beef was that the competition was pretty one-sided. It felt like when a contestant was in last place, they had no chance to make a comeback. It was a good test though for the players to show their true potential. But I felt that Legends did it better.

5.) Get the Picture - Not very exciting at times, but I can sit down and watch it.

Pretty much all the ones you mentioned, except move Guts to the #2 spot. My second favorite game show after Legends. I just loved all the challenges the contestants had to face. Love that show.

I never really liked Finders Keepers. I will admit that the final round was pretty cool to tear the rooms of the house apart, but the kids never had enough time to win. And the show looks like it came out of the 60's.  At least shows like Guts and Legends look more modern than Finders Keepers. (Except for Season 1 of Legends)

But yeah, I expect all of us to have Legends #1 and Guts as #2. Those were definitely the most unique shows. ;)

I never liked Finders Keepers either. It just seemed so pointless and boring, and you're right, it has not aged well at all. The show came out in the late 80s, and it looks like it's from the 60s. Even Legends Season 1 has aged better than that.

Here's my rankings of the Nick game shows:
1. Legends (Of course)
2. Guts
3. Double Dare
4. Figure It Out (I also liked the new version as well as the original version)
5. Get the Picture

I also preferred Guts to Double Dare. Even as a kid. But both shows are fun and entertaining to watch. ;)

I might move up Guts also to #3. It was like Legends but more competition and skilled based. The challenges were definitely fun and the ending round was almost as cool as the temple run. Sometimes though the competition got really one-sided. It was like the Orange Iguanas vs. Purple Parrots in Golden Chains. :P

And I never really rewatched the new version of FIO. I really need to give it a try. But the original version was great and I enjoyed the "regular panelist" like Lori Beth, Kevin, Danny, Amanda, and Kenan and Kel. Later though, the contestants got on my nerves because they played around too much. And they brought in CatDog.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Nick Arcade yet. What does everyone think of that show?

I never really cared for that show. Didn't care for the theme and the last round was very tough. Even more tough than the temple run. :o

Plus, they had some bad contestants on there too. And that show hasn't aged well either.

Oh right, I forgot about Wild and Crazy Kids. I was gonna inlcude that on my list, but I never watched enough of it. Is that really a game show though? I'm not sure, if only I watched enough of it.

Wild and Crazy Kids seems to be considered a game show. Wikipedia considers it anyways. Also, didn't Nick GaS use to play this show? Before they decided that only four shows would make it a "better" channel? :afro:

I think they played it in its early days, but I'm not sure. I never got Nick Gas so I wouldn't exactly know.

I really can't narrow it down to just 5 shows, as Nickelodeon had a ton of quality game shows back in the day, as this topic has shown.

THIS. I think I liked too many of their shows to make a solid top five list.

Glad to see someone else thinks along the same line.
