No. Every combination was used at least four times. Blue-Orange-Purple-Silver and Blue-Green-Orange-Purple were the rarest with four appearances each. Also, the pair tomorrow was not used a lot. And I'll say it yet again: I'm looking forward to it. ;)
So much for the "9 gap."
But yeah, these colors looked nice together, and they had some amazing episodes from this pair. Even Belshazzar wasn't bad. And like you said, it was the first ever episode recorded. So I'll definitely cut that episode some slack. While the Purple Parrots didn't have great luck with this pair, they did advance 3/5 times from this pair, if that helps. ;)
*Bump*So many coincidences for such a rare match up.
Here's some interesting tidbits regarding the SOK pair Red-Blue-Orange-Purple:
- Two golden artifact were from Season 1 (Golden Cup, Golden Jaguar)
- Two lucky artifacts were from Season 2 (Lucky Medallion, Lucky Pillow, filmed the same day to boot)
- The Purple Parrots advanced 3/5 times from this pair. :mrpurple:
- There were 4/5 artifact grabs from this pair too. (credit goes to TRJ for this tibdit)
- Two were Red Jaguar runs, and two were Blue Barracuda runs. (credit goes to TRJ for this tibdit)
- Both the first AND last episode filmed had both this pair, and were Red Jaguar runs.
- Not only that, but both Belshazzar and Catherine the Great were the only runs where the team won more than one pendant.
- Furthermore, both Belshazzar and Catherine the Great were the only runs out of that pair to not come down to a tiebreaker.
Most of these facts brought to you by the trivia thread.
And look at how much all five of these episodes have in common in general. :o I know this was brought up in the "Interesting Coincidences" thread. Let me see if I can pull up the post.
EDIT: Here's the post:Quote*Bump*So many coincidences for such a rare match up.

Yeah, I would've given this a 1 too if it weren't for Bandit Queen or Blue Pearl. Seriously, this combination makes me queasy just thinking about it. O_O
And I hate to disappoint everyone, but a lot of the match ups coming up aren't very good either. But I guess you can say these bad match ups would serve for more interesting discussion. Or whatever you want to make of it.
Yeah, that one was pretty ugly too. And that's one of the ones coming up too. :oops:Yeah, I would've given this a 1 too if it weren't for Bandit Queen or Blue Pearl. Seriously, this combination makes me queasy just thinking about it. O_O

Just wait for the one that Charles Lindbergh uses. That one is filled with nothing but bad episodes.
It's nice that this poll has had a lot of diversity with its results so far though. Some of these are so cut and dry. So this is kind of refreshing.I agree, it is interesting seeing these different results. In fact, none of my polls so far have been unanimous at all. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Diversity is good, like you said.
Wow, am I really the only one who legitimately likes this color combination?
Yeah, I gave it a 7. I like this combination for some reason. I think these colors match up just fine. Different tastes, though.
You're right, looking at this set you would definitely expect to see it more often. I wonder why that is.
Of course to only be seen four times out of 120 episodes is a remarkably low ratio.

What I think is a little shocking about the totals:
Purple appeared in the temple games more than the rest of the teams in season 2. <3
Orange won 6 out of 9 season 1 temple game appearances.
Blue won 5 out of 7 season 3 temple game appearances.
Even though Green managed 15 victories in the season 3 temple games, they still appeared in the season 3 temple games 9 more times.
Orange went to the temple games so little amount of times and managed to go to the temple the most.
If any combinations are found to be incorrect, feel free to say so.
Do we have a master list of how frequently teams faced off with one another? We do actually, in another topic. But, you're gonna have to wait until we reach the temple games portion of this thread. ;)
Why is Lost Hammer listed twice on that list though? Is that a mistake?
Why is Lost Hammer listed twice on that list though? Is that a mistake?Because the Green Monkeys got disqualified at John Henry's moat, and the Purple Parrots took their place. Same with Amulet. Blue got disqualified, and Silver replaced them. Is that reason enough for you? ;)

Truth be told, I never liked Snake Bracelet either. =/
Now, I'm gonna ask again: Will the temple game match ups make for more interesting discussion? I brought this up yesterday, and you never answered me. I don't know if anyone is gonna look forward to it. That's what I'm afraid of.
Also, I am not too crazy about Snake Bracelet's win. But I thought the whole episode was pretty good like the pretty unique temple games and hilarious legend. It has nothing on Galileo or Lawrence of Arabia. ;) :mrsilver:Yeah, I liked the legend and temple games as well. But Tracy's unenthusiasm and average win kind of brings it down for me. But yeah, I definitely prefer the likes of Galileo and Lawrence of Arabia over this episode. ;)
I dig all of this discussion because I always learn something I didn't know or didn't realize previously.Yeah, it's fun to look at all the interesting color combinations, and which episodes featured which pair. And it's especially fun to over analyze all the combinations too.
I gave this combo an 8. I really like these colors together and the epsiodes were decent. And the colors remind me of berries and I like berries.
And tomorrow's match up is gonna be even worse. Some of the worst episodes ever come from that pair. I can't wait until we get to the Blue match ups. They had some neat match ups together.
And tomorrow's match up is gonna be even worse. Some of the worst episodes ever come from that pair. I can't wait until we get to the Blue match ups. They had some neat match ups together.
And they all happen to be Red Jaguar episodes too. Blackbeard and Alhambra.
I guess it is good Red didn't go to the temple over Silver in other episodes. Luckily, we get Bandit Queen, Raccoon Collar, and Sultan Saladin. :mrsilver:
And Snow Cone. Which should've had Red going to the temple there. :roll:And tomorrow's match up is gonna be even worse. Some of the worst episodes ever come from that pair. I can't wait until we get to the Blue match ups. They had some neat match ups together.

And I did this for Red vs. Purple, and I'm gonna do it again here. Here is how I'd change this match up:
:jaguars2: vs. :snakes2:
Episodes it was featured in: (Used in 9 episodes)
The Snow Cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Red wins)
Blackbeard's Treasure Map (Silver wins)
The Keys to the Alhambra (Silver wins)
The Pendant of Kamehameha (Silver wins)
The Star of Sultan Saladin (Silver wins)
The Medal of Sir Edmund Hilary (Silver wins)

Now THAT is what I called lopsided. But on the other hand, I wouldn't have been mad at a "9-0 Silver.... ouch" result either. I mean, let's get real here. But, that's just me. Thoughts?
This pair was overused in Season 3, probably to make up for its lack of Season 1 appearances. Agree about the colors too, but can't complain about the episode selection. ;)
That's not the point. I'm just saying that some of these teams did NOT deserve to go to the temple. Teams like Alhambra, Blackbeard, Xerxes, Cricket Cage, all should've had different teams advancing instead. All I'm doing is looking at how these pairs/numbers would've turned out if those opposite teams won instead. I don't know, I was just doing this for fun. I never said the producers were in charge of rigging things. And I was gonna do the exact same thing for Orange vs. Purple and Purple vs. Silver. Like I said, this is the last good combination for the entire rest of this thread. We should be bragging about how much we like this pair, and be grateful we don't have any eyesores. Sorry to rant, I just didn't think anyone would mind if I jazzed things up a little, just to have fun with this thread.

That doesn't really make sense, I mean, it's not like the producers hand picked the winning teams.

Here are the remaining ones:
Green/Silver: The most overused combination ever? At least it has a lot of great episodes associated with it though.
Orange/Purple: The team the Purple Parrots never beat. I see this finishing with a low score.
Orange/Silver: A pretty uncommon combination. Not sure what others think of it.
Purple/Silver: Another interesting one that was not used much. We have some great episodes like Priceless Portrait and Milk Bucket. But then we have Lost Lion Tail and Golden Cricket Cage. The only time the Purple Parrots don't have a losing streak against a meta.
Right, and it's luck of the draw at the end of the day. Same does for the Steps pairs. But Green/Purple not happening in Season 1, and then being overused by Season 3 would be fitting since it was otherwise a rare match up. It's like, Orange lost at the moat 9 our of the 11 Purple Parrot temple episodes, yet Purple never beat Orange at all. It's like karma for the Orange Iguanas in that sense.
This pair was overused in Season 3, probably to make up for its lack of Season 1 appearances. Agree about the colors too, but can't complain about the episode selection. ;)
That doesn't really make sense, I mean, it's not like the producers hand picked the winning teams.
No no I just meant the part about "making up" for past seasons. Because that makes it sound like somebody could somehow control the outcome of the game or something.
I totally agree about certain teams not deserving to make it to the temple. I think you named the ones that immediately come to mind.
And I appreciate the way you present the changes you would make to the results if you were able to. It's really interesting to think about how different things could have gone.
Right, and it's luck of the draw at the end of the day. Same does for the Steps pairs. Either way, anything else anyone would like to add for Green vs. Purple? ;)
I wonder if this forum has a feature where you can feature the poll on the front page and people can vote without going to the thread? A couple of forums I went to used that feature before. But yeah, we have created a lot of polls though and all of them have been creative and fun. :mrred:
I personally LOVE the poll threads. They're fantastic.Yeah, we've pretty much exhausted through every possible idea at this point. Though maybe I could do something like "Rate the Layout," like rate S1L1, S1L2, etc. I'm pretty sure we haven't done that before. After this thread wraps up, I might start it. ;)
But there is only so much we can do with them. I'm sure we'll come up with something though!
When this concludes, should we have the color combinations ordered by their scores rather than the order we voted on them? What I was thinking of doing was post both charts in the OP, and put them in order from highest rated to lowest. Just so we can see which color combinations ranked the best, and which ones ranked the worst. ;)

And while we're on the subject of reviving old polls, I was thinking of rehashing the "Rate the wins" topic. I mean, it's been over a year since we've touched that thread, and again, it would be interesting to see how much our opinions have changed. And with only a mere 32 wins on the show, it wouldn't take long at all. Just like the rooms thread with 34 days, the wins thread would only take 32 days. Would that be an interesting thing to rehash again? I think so, since this is about wins after all. ;)
