Offtopic

I want to say, in terms of activity on the forum, I would certainly like to increase the activity, and this may be an opportunity for us to do just that. Now that's another conversation entirely and we need to focus on this main problem first, but I would just like to say that for the last 2 years, activity has been very good for the forum.

While it has amounted to roughly 10 regulars, that's very good for us compared to our first 3 years, in which we would have periods of large activity followed by periods of close to zero posts for weeks at a time. As a forum, we've been doing all right.

Choice #3 is the best one as I see it.

However, if we were to go for option #3 TSM, would you be willing/able to be de-Admin'd after the current mods took control?

That's exactly the matter I've sent him a PM over. Because I felt that it was something that the two of us should discuss and not the entire forum. I hope you understand.

All right everyone, it's been decided.

After the move, the staff will be re-organized with myself, Ed, and TSM all as Admins. I'm granting this to TSM due to his help in backing up the forum and because he established this new forum giving him technical administartion, so I feel it's only fair.

With that in mind, it seems that the majority of the board is in favor of a technical move. What we need to do now is take care of any unfinished business.

Once everything is straightened out, we'll set a date for the official "move", in which TSM will do a final backup of the forum and then we will officially start to conduct ourselves in the new one.

The only concern I can think of at this point is if Forumer will get onto us for making this move. As far as I know, this is in no way a violation of their terms of use, normally I wouldn't give it a second thought. However, I also did not know that they were closing down forums if the admin didn't post every 30 days, so I'm not exactly up to date on their policies.

I'm going to conduct my own research into this, but for now, as far as everyone knows, is this in anyway a breach of their terms?

I reviewed the terms and can find no violation.

If there are any other matters of concern, please post them within the next 24 hours. Assuming there are none, or any posted are taken care of, we will set the date for the move tomorrow at 10:30PM Central Standard Time.

As it was, it just seemed to me that things would be more easy to run if the staff are all admins. As far as Mike goes, he's out of the picture. So if you want to get technical, there will be no mods, just admins. This could change in the future if we feel there is a need for moderators, but at this time, I don't see that as needed.

Sounds like a plan.

I would really appreciate it if everyone can refrain from posting HERE tomorrow from around 4:00PM eastern onward, so I don't miss any posts during the backup. I might set up a Twitter account or something to keep you guys posted on how the move is going (Note that you don't need to register on Twitter to view one's tweets).

Also, you will all get a PM with a link to the new board as well as a randomly generated password. Log in with the password in the PM and then change it right away to something you won't forget.

That pretty much covers everything, I think. Thanks for your cooperation.

(Oh, and Phantom, mind switching the default theme back to SubSilver? The database backup script won't work otherwise.)
