Second season Throne Room question...
« on: January 17, 2007, 11:19:34 AM »
Actually I have two questions.

1. Did the contestants always have to sit on the throne if the door to the Swamp was unlocked? I know that if they wanted to go into the upper room that they had to sit on the seat, but why sit on it to go into the Swamp?

2. What was behind the throne wall? I see another ladder behind the throne that had a step or something like that. Was that ever used? Because I thought I saw it used once.

1. They didn't actually have to sit on it, but yes, you did have to press it to open the door to the Swamp.

2. I'm not sure what you mean by "another ladder"... I'd be happy to answer once I understand what's being asked. :P

I thought the whole wall was wedged in, so the only way out was to sit on & turn around.

Yeah, there's a ladder on the back of the throne wall. It was used in The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy because the girl climbed down from the Heart Room and the throne wasn't spun around. She obviously couldn't sit on the throne so they just opened the doors for her when she stepped off the ladder.

What they should have done was to have two thrones one on each side of the wall. They also should have had it set up so the contestant, when entering it from from The Heart Room, would enter it on the same side as if they were entering it from the Pit of Despair, so they would have to spin around.

Oh! I'm sorry--despite the topic title I thought you were referring to the Season 1 Throne room. (Give a point to my short-term memory loss.) They could only get to the other side of the room if the movable wall allowed access to the door itself.

1. Yes, because the wall obstructed their direct path through the room.

2. Yes, there was another ladder on the back of the wall, for incidents like the one that The Purple Parrot referenced. Now as for the "step" that you talk about, I've always thought that it was an actuator for the Swamp's door that you'd have to step on to continue.
