We always talk about temple teams who really should've won in the temple but end up losing for one reason or another. How about temple teams that shouldn't have won but still managed to do somehow? I am not talking about runs like Silk Ladder or Butch Cassidy where even though those teams were undeserving, they still won handily in the temple run because they had favorable layouts. Nor am I talking about the one second wins either although you can make arguments for them.

One run that I am surprised was even a temple win was "Davy Crockett". Shannon and Adam's temple layout was pretty short and easy, but this team barely won with 4 seconds. It was basically "Silk Ladder 2.0" with an extra room tacked on. And none of their rooms they entered were really hard. Yet, Adam moves slow as a rock and doesn't even speed up when exiting the temple with the Collar. I am VERY surprised that this team won and if they had one more room objective, it would've been a failed escape run at best.

Basically what you said about Davy Crockett, and also Dr. Livingstone. I mean, it was almost like Davy Crockett. Slow players, and just barely winning with four seconds left on the clock. Plus, Brett had a rather messy exit plan. I mean, you could say the same thing about Metal Beard, but TJ and Randy were faster. Tabitha and Brett were just plain average.

Once again I forget about "Dr Livingstone".

But I definitely would add that run to my list in a heartbeat. Both Egyptian Queen and Dr. Livingstone finished with the exact same time, but TJ and Randy's layout was much tougher than Brett and Tabitha's layout. Brett and Tabitha's layout was pretty much similar to Paula's win except their run didn't have a chance at a solo shot. And none of their rooms they entered actually had an objective to it either. Finishing with 5 seconds left is NOT impressive with that layout, especially since Paula won with 53 seconds and entered the same amount of rooms as them. And Brett didn't help their cause with that temple exit.

Davy Crockett and Dr. Livingstone are definitely the two runs where I can say that these teams really shouldn't have won.

And truth be told, there are a lot of Season 1 wins that shouldn't have been wins. Since Season 1 was such a cakewalk compared to the latter two seasons. Let's face it, a lot of those layouts were easy.

Also, would Shaka Zulu count as a "shouldn't have been" win too? :afro:

I think Shaka Zulu is another one too. Unlike Silk Ladder, it is obvious that Bobby's path to the artifact was not suppose to be that easy. His layout was probably similar to Stone Marker or Cobra Staff where he would've been forced to take the entire top floor. And since he spent more than half of the run just running between four rooms, I don't see him having enough time to escape. I always felt that Bobby wouldn't have won if he was forced to take a longer route. :afro:

I also want to include Snake Bracelet on the list too. Robert left Tracy with A LOT of time (~2:20) in the run and she only had to complete two rooms. Yet, she crosses the temple gates two minutes later when all her team had to do was complete the top floor? That is actually pretty bad because if Robert was like most Season 1 contestants, he wouldn't have left Tracy enough time to bring the artifact out because she was so slow and looked lost. This run definitely should've beaten Benzibab's time.  :o

Yeah, I was also gonna mention Snake Bracelet as another one where the team shouldn't have won. Imagine if Robert had gone in second instead. He probably would've shattered Shaka Zulu's time. :o Instead, it's barely a win because Tracy was such a slowpoke. Not to mention, she looked like she didn't want to be on the show. She didn't even smile when her team won. This run shouldn't have been a win either.

Definitely agree about Shaka Zulu. If Bobby didn't get lucky with that production error, no way would this have been a win. And don't give me that "but he was fast going through the rooms!" crap. Had this not been a win, then this run would've ended the same way Stone Marker and Paintbrush did. Dead end and impossible layout. :afro:

Well, Bobby would've at least had the option of using the Treasure Chest in this run unlike in the Leonardo Da Vinci/Stone Marker run where the Swamp/Bamboo Forest was a dead end and temple guard double whammy. His run would've ended like Cobra Staff most likely and he probably would've met another guard in the Shrine or somewhere else. :afro:

But you are pretty much right about most of the Season 1 wins. Almost half of them should've been losses. I want to throw Buddha on the list too. Jennifer spent almost the entire temple run running so slow and getting lost in half of her rooms. Even Kristen from Amelia Earhart might've won this layout because it was so damn easy. Winning barely with 10 seconds with that layout does NOT make you the best girl ever, Jennifer. ;)

Yup, Buddha is another one too. Jennifer spent the entire run wandering around the temple cluelessly, and doesn't speed up until after reaching the belly button. Imagine if she had Freydis' layout. No way would she have moseyed her way into a win. Even Tarrah was faster than her, AND her layout was harder. Tarrah deserves much more praise than Jennifer does. And no way is she "the best female player of Season 1" either. So Buddha is definitely another Season 1 win that shouldn't have been a win. ;)
