The Heart Room / Contestants and the direct path
« on: April 16, 2012, 01:04:59 AM »
One subject we like to talk about all the time on Legends is contestants taking direct paths and hurting their chances at a temple win. Sometimes when a contestant takes a direct path, it usually results in them taking a longer route or they will encounter an additional temple guard or two. I know taking the direct path all the time isn't a bad thing, just look at wins like "The Mask of Shaka Zulu" and "The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra".

I think it would be nice to compile a list of various temple appearances where taking the direct path hurt a team in a way. For this list, we are not trying to find every single contestant who took the direct path. Rather, a contestant or team who got screwed over by the direct path.

Here's a few examples:

The Pendant of Kamehameha - Robbie
This one is a no-brainer at all. Had Robbie went into the Heart Room or even the Observatory, then he would've avoided the Throne Room guard for sure and maybe even the Heart Room guard too had he went up into the Observatory. Taking the direct path in this run caused this temple win to end in triple capture.

The Stone Head of the Evil King - Heather
While its not 100% guaranteed that Medusa's Lair door would open from the Pit, I am pretty sure Heather could've went into that room from the Pit. Had she went in there instead of the Throne Room, then I think she would've done a better job on Medusa's Head.

The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud - Nicholas
Season three had quite a few episodes where both the very top of the central shaft and very bottom of the central shaft opened up when the column was knocked down. This run was an example of one of them. In Nicholas's case, starting on the bottom floor where the Melted Head was located at caused him to scale the entire shaft. We do know that he could've avoided the entire shaft, as evident by Jennifer running straight to the King's Storeroom from the Pit. This would've saved the team a lot of time and maybe Jennifer could've reached the Melted Head?

What other temple appearances do you think taking the direct path had a negative impact on the run?

The Temple Games / Legends Temple Run Elimination Thread - Season 1
« on: April 09, 2012, 01:44:10 AM »
I had an idea for another elimination game - we try to find the best temple runs for each particular season. We have had elimination threads for temple runs in the past, but this time around we are trying to find the best temple runs for each season. When there are 15 runs left, then we will starting ranking them. After we have gone through all 3 seasons, then I will hold the "Ultimate Temple Run Elimination Thread" where we take the best 15 runs from each season and determine the best 15 on the show.

RULES:
- You can eliminate a temple run twice a day. Please try to keep your vote far apart and don't do them too close too each other (like voting an hour after your first vote.)
- Once a temple run is eliminated from the list, you cannot bring it back and it will be gone for good.
- Once we get to 15 runs remaining, we will start ranking them. The final 15 runs will be used later for a compilation of best runs of each season.
- Once we get to the last two runs, then we will vote on which one wins this thread.
- Have fun!

I will kick the list off in the next post. ;)

« on: March 19, 2012, 10:59:16 PM »
Welcome to the Legends Temple Girl Save Game! Like the other save game topics that have been held on this board, we will try to determine the best Legends girl on the show. I find these games to be addicting and fun, so hopefully we can get more people to join in these topics. And it will also make the rounds go by quick. Hopefully some of the new members can join us also.  :mrred:

RULES:
- This list contains a total of 112 girls that have made it into Olmec's temple. The other 8 excluded ones are the ones that never set foot into the temple.

We haven't had any relevant Legends discussions in a while, so I thought I would start a thread dedicated to it.

What are some contestants on the show that get too much slack or undeserved criticism on the show? What I mean by this are contestants that people give a hard time about something that they had little or no control over. Or contestants who put up a good effort, but people often overlook it for various reasons.

One contestant that comes to mind is Jennifer from "The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud". A lot of people criticize her for screaming at her partner and not pulling enough weight for her screaming. If you actually watch the temple run for this episode, you will notice that Nicholas wastes too much time in the temple. Three minutes is not enough time to move at a leisure-like pace. And by the time Jennifer entered the temple, they had no hope of winning. At least she was smart enough also to cut straight to the King's Storeroom and even finished the monkey at the last second. There was nothing she could do to reach the Quicksand Bog.

Another contestant that comes to mind is Jeremy from "The Golden Spider Web of Robert the Bruce". Sure, he did cheat in his individual temple game that cost him the half-pendant. But I am pretty sure it was an honest mistake. If you go back and watch the temple game, he probably didn't know any better about jumping between the little space. And in the temple, there was no way he would've reached the Spider Web with that impossible layout. He moved at a decent speed, it just wasn't good enough.

What are some other contestants that fit this criteria?

The Temple Games / Most Memorable Legends Temple Run Elimination Thread
« on: January 10, 2012, 12:38:26 AM »
We did most memorable Legends episode, now we can do the temple run version now. For this elimination thread, we are looking at temple runs only.

Rules
*You can eliminate an episode from the list every hour.
*Once an episode is gone from the list, it is removed permanently and cannot be readded.

To start the list off, I will get rid of "The Shriveled Hand of Efoua" since it was the winner of the "Most Forgettable Temple Run" thread. The Temple Games / Most Memorable Legends Episode Elimination Thread
« on: December 30, 2011, 01:43:35 PM »
Now that we finished the most forgettable episode, we will move onto the most memorable Legends episode. Same rules as the last topic apply:

Rules
*You can eliminate an episode from the list every hour.
*Once an episode is gone from the list, it is removed permanently and cannot be readded.
*Once we get to 25 episodes remaining, we will start ranking them.
*Updating the list is not required, but try to update it if there is too much backlog or when we are starting a new page.

I guess it will be reasonable to start off my getting rid of "The Stone Marker of Leif Erikson", the winner of the last elimination thread. There is nothing memorable about this episode at all and you probably won't bother watching this episode again after a first view. Definitely one of the most forgettable episodes in the entire show.

1x01 - Blackbeard's Treasure Map
1x02 - The Golden Cup of Belshazzar
1x03 - Galileo's Cannonball
1x04 - Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand
1x05 - John Henry's Lost Hammer
1x06 - The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan
1x07 - Elizabeth I's Golden Ship
1x08 - John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine
1x09 - The Star of Sultan Saladin
1x10 - The Keys to the Alhambra
1x11 - The Helmet of Genghis Khan
1x12 - The Trojan Horseshoe
1x13 - The Pendant of Kamehameha

The Temple Games / Most Forgettable Legends Episode Elimination Thread
« on: December 20, 2011, 08:38:24 PM »
We just finished a thread for the most forgettable temple runs on Legends, now we can move onto the most forgettable Legends episode.

In this game, we are trying to find the most forgettable episodes. When placing a vote, try to take the whole episode into consideration and not just the temple run. This include the moat, legends, Steps, temple games, contestants, temple run, etc.

I will start off by voting for "The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great". In my opinion, this was one of the most exciting episodes in the shows three year tenure. Its just an episode you can never get tired of watching. From the exciting temple games (the first one and team game are classics) to the stellar performance in the temple run, each round is great and exciting. And at the end of the episode, we get a shot of Kirk jumping into the Pit of the Pendulum after being chased by the cameraman. Too bad we didn't get anymore shots like in the show. Just a great episode to end a great show.  :mrred:

The Heart Room / The most undeserving teams on Legends?
« on: December 03, 2011, 01:01:46 AM »
Just to start a new topic for conversation on this board. What teams throughout the shows history were the most undeserving teams on Legends? Now this topic isn't about terrible teams in the temple like the Golden Cricket Cage of Khan kids. In fact, the team doesn't even need to enter the temple to be mentioned in this topic.

I will start off with some undeserving teams:

* The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy - Orange Iguanas - Throughout the entire episode, the team was barely scrapping by each round. In the moat, they barely filled the last spot. In the temple games, the team won the last temple game on a controversial call which would've sent the Purple Parrots to the temple if she got caught. And of course, in the temple run, she got the easiest layout and somehow managed to avoid all the rooms with objectives.

* The Marble Armrest of Xerxes - Green Monkeys - Probably the most undeserving team to enter the temple. They were another team that were barely scrapping by each round. And when the tiebreaker came around, they got the easiest question where the answer was in the EPISODE TITLE. And when the team gets to the temple, they put on a half-ass performance where both players looked incompetent.

What are some more undeserving teams on the show?

The Temple Games / Legends Temple Room Save Game
« on: November 29, 2011, 12:01:55 AM »
Since the save game for the temple runs is almost complete, I decided to make one for the temple rooms. Since there are only 48 temple rooms on this list, it won't be nearly as long as the other game.

Rules:
- You can save up to 2 temple rooms every hour. The time limit and amount of saves may be subjected to change as more rooms are eliminated.
- Once a room has been saved, it will be removed from the "UNSAFE" list until the end of the round.
- The two remaining unsafe rooms at the end of each round will be eliminated.
- There are a total of 48 rooms on the list. The last remaining room will win it all!

The Heart Room / Episodes with similarities
« on: November 25, 2011, 04:34:15 PM »
I thought that this might be a fun topic and talk about something new at the same time.\

Anyways, what are some episodes that have glaring similarities? The similarities do not have to be from the temple runs, but those are usually where they are found anyways. While making similarities, try to shy away from episodes that are too obvious like episodes that share the same artifact locations.

Here are a few obvious episodes with similarities.

The Paintbrush of Leonardo Da Vinci
The Stone Marker of Leif Erickson
- Both episodes featured an artifact located in the Tomb of the Ancient Kings
- Both runs featured the girls of each team encountering a deadend in the Swamp area along with a temple guard.
- Both girls scaled the entire central shaft before being taken out in the Observatory.
- At least one contestant from each run entered the Room of Three Gargoyles at some point, but failed to press all three tongues which forced them into the Cave of Sighs.

The Belly Button of Buddha
The Milk Bucket of Freydis
- Both episodes featured an artifact located in the Observatory.
- Both episodes were solo wins by frontrunner girls from each team.
- Both episodes featured a solo victory and were the only solo victories by girls with two pendants.
- Both girls run into the Torch Room/Room of the Secret Password after completing the monkey.

Let's see if we can find more.  :mrorange:

The Temple Games / All Time Worst Legends Contestants Elimination Thread
« on: November 24, 2011, 11:30:33 PM »
We just finished the best version, now let's move onto the worst contestants in Legends.

- Rules
* You can eliminate a contestant every 2 hours. Just make sure you try to vote around that time mark
* Since this list is extra lengthy, you don't need to update it. I will update it in order to save room on a page.
* Once we get to 40 contestants, then we will start ranking them.
* Since multiple contestants share the same name, please specify which one you are voting off.

To start off, I will get rid of our champion Jessica from "The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain". She was quite possibly the best female contestant in the temple and absolutely destroyed the central shaft. Its too bad that most of the girls, or even some of the guys, couldn't scale the central shaft like her.

The Temple Games / Legends Riddles Game
« on: November 16, 2011, 11:42:00 PM »
I stole this idea from the Trivia thread and surprised no one has made one yet.

The rules are simple - one person will create a riddle pertaining to Legends and the next person must try to guess the riddle. The riddles can be about anything, just as long as its Legends related.

The first person who gets the riddle first can post their own if they like or can pass it onto another person. If you guess wrong, try to give another person a chance to guess before guessing again.

I will start off:

No brave soul has ever retrieved a prized possession from my lair,
apparently I house the deceased from former players.
I am responsible for a tragic ending to a certain team,
I am a space without a real theme.
Who am I?
