The Heart Room / Re: Legends CW version canceled after one season
« on: June 05, 2022, 03:12:01 PM »
Unfortunately, I'm not surprised the Legends reboot only lasted one season. I think PP319 nailed the reason why the reboot didn't work for me. It didn't really resemble the original show much and the pacing was pretty bad. Plus, it wasn't the same without the younger contestants. I always felt that they waited too long to reboot the show. This should've happened in the late 2000's/early 2010's when the target audience was still in their teen/20's. The target audience now is in their late 20's/30's/40's. Sadly, I think this is the final nail in the coffin for a Legends revival. I don't think any studios will consider producing another Legends show in the future. Although I would be glad to be proven wrong about this. I did enjoy the Josh from Empress Theodora and Nick from Great Seal episode from the reboot. If they had more episodes like this, it might've been more enjoyable.

Yes, Sarah and Josh were a good team that got screwed with a jacked up layout. Both players tried every path possible and hit nothing but dead-ends. The only other possible route would be the Golden Idols-Swamp door... a route that was never used once in Season 1 aside from the Moccasins run. The Swamp door in particular could've been a potential production error. Maybe it was the poor lighting or production error, but the layout was complete crap. No reason why the Heart Room or Observatory door didn't open. Like the Golden Cup team, Sarah and Josh deserved a second chance in a heartbeat.

It would've been a very close call if Josh let the elevator descend all the way since he had very little time. They would've had more time if Ashley didn't act like she was on an afternoon strollion the temple. And yes, I think that Katherine and Sean would've had a better outcome if there were no production errors. They didn't even seem like bad contestants at all. Katherine moved at a fast pace and had a good strategy to start on the lower path. Despite having a more time consuming dead-end than Sabrina, Katherine and Sean still made more progress than her.

I would say any type of BTS video would be interesting. ;)

I think Trubinsky could be a good fit for the Steelers as well. Based on how Justin Fields performed for the Bears this past season, I think it's safe to assume it might be a Bears problem rather than a QB problem. And Rudolph is not cut to start in the NFL.

Amari Cooper to the Browns? I have a feeling that will turn into another OBJ situation. There's also a lot of drama with Mayfield now. That team can never catch a break.

And Tom Brady is still around to torture us another season.  :P The Ravens play the NFC South next year, so that means we get another chance at facing Brady. I'm hoping he has a bad offensive year like Peyton Manning had in 2015 with the Broncos .

There's actually a video (sort of) with BTS moments from Season 1. Someone uploaded this video in the early 2010's, but it was eventually made private/removed. Someone else uploaded the same video a few years back. The video shows various short clips from Season 1 rounds like the Snake Bracelet moat, Fountain of Youth temple run, and the            temple win. It also shows various cast members and contestants in the hallways and other rooms outside of the set. The most interesting part is seeing the audience members doing the "Egyptian Walk" while during the storytelling portion of the show (4:05 of the video).

I'm glad that David Greenfield decided to re-uploaded his video. I was wondering what happened to the original video. I didn't realize some lame-ass stole his videos and tried to upload them as his own. Nice to see an extended version of the original video. I did ask him in the last video he uploaded what was the correct spelling for Benzibab. He did confirm that Benzibab is indeed the correct spelling. He took that video down before I had to chance to reply and save his comment.

I don't recall there being a production error in the Empress Theodora run? Unless you're referring to the elevator stalling for Josh, that was not a production error at all. He took his hands off the actuators that operate the elevator, which is why the elevator stalled and the team came up short of the artifact. If he kept his hands on the button, perhaps he could've reached the artifact. Or if Ashley moved faster in the temple.

For the Golden Cup run, there is no doubt in my mind that this run would've been much better if there was no production error in Room of Harmonic Convergence. Katherine was moving pretty fast in the temple, but losing all that time in the Harmonic Convergence hurt them. Also, Sean ran into a production error in the Treasure Room. This was one of the most unluckiest teams on the show. Not only was their original temple run postponed, but their new temple run was riddled with production errors. After the Discarded Seal team, Katherine and Sean deserved a second chance in the temple no questions asked.

Also, you can add the Lost Logbooks and Golden Stallion run to your list too. Lost Logbooks had the production error in Harmonic Convergence and Golden Stallion had the Throne Room error.

Looks like it will be Bengals/Rams for the SB match-up! Before the season started, I never expected either team to make the playoff much less the Super Bowl. This is actually a pretty interesting match-up. A veteran QB whose never been to the SB vs. an up and coming QB who took their team from worst to first. I'm excited for this SB as it doesn't contain any NFL golden boys.

I honestly don't mind if either team wins. If the Rams win, Stafford will finally get a ring. If the Bengals, they will get their first SB trophy in franchise history and have a second year QB with a perfect playoff run.

I will post my predictions once we get a little closer to the SB date. The SB won't be for another 2 weeks though. First, we need to get past the lame ass Pro Bowl.  :afro:

And the Bengals shock the world and upset the Chiefs! What an incredible playoff run for them. They went from 4-11-1 last season to now being the AFC representation! Their last playoff win prior to beating the Raiders was all the way back in 1991. And now they're literally one win away from getting their first SB ring! I hope they go all the way and win the big one.

And now we have to wait for the NFC team. I'm rooting for the Rams over the 49ers because I would love to see Stafford in the SB. But really, I'm just glad that we don't have to see Brady or Chiefs in this year SB.

Argh the goddamn Chiefs manage to pull out a win against the Bills!  :x Are they going to be the new Patriots where everything goes their way?! Although it didn't help that the Bills gave up a FG with 13 seconds remaining. That was a great game though! Probably one of the best since the Ravens/Broncos double OT game in 2013.

In other news, Brady has been eliminated from the playoffs!  :mrred: The Rams tried hard to blow that one, but at least they prevailed. Too bad the Chiefs won or else this would've been the perfect weekend. And all four road teams would've won as well.

Next week is the Conference Championship game. It will be the following teams:

Bengals @ Chiefs
49ers @ Rams.

I have a feeling that Bengals will probably lose to Chiefs. They are too banged up and everything seems to go the Chiefs way.  :afro:
I pick the Rams for NFC game since they're more talented and healthy. But division games are definitely tricky to pick.  :afro:

SB match-up will probably be Rams-Chiefs, although I would love to see Rams-Bengals instead.

And just like that, both #1 seeds get a first round exit. When was the last time this happened? I'm not surprised to see the Titans lose. They weren't really a deserving #1 seed. They have a talented defense, but Ryan Tannehill sucks in the playoffs and Derrick Henry was not 100% healthy. I'm actually surprised to see the Packers lose though. The 49ers barely sneaked into the playoffs and are a pretty beat up team. I guess Rodgers' couldn't overcome his winless record against the 49ers in playoffs.

As a Raven fan, I personally don't mind the Bengals advanced to AFCCG. I used to hate them 5 or so years ago, but now that Andy Dalton and AJ Green is gone, I don't mind them too much... yet. I definitely want to see the Bills be the AFC representative this year.

Now we just need the Bucs and Chiefs to lose for the perfect playoff match-ups in a long time.

Yeah, the WC round was pretty bad this weekend. The only interesting game was the Cowboys game and that's because of them choking.  :afro: The other games were pretty boring and blowouts outside of Cincy/Raiders. Here are my predictions for the divisional round:

Titans > Bengals - I would like to see the Bengals win, but with Derrick Henry returning and the Titans having extra rest, I think the game should be in their favor. Plus, the Titans are more healthy than the Bengals. Titans 28 Bengals 24

Chiefs > Bills - The Bills did beat KC in the regular season, but I don't think they will beat them twice unless Allen has a stellar performance like against the Patriots. The Chiefs probably make a comeback in the 4th quarter since it seems that is how they win all the time.  I hope I'm wrong about this one. Chiefs 42 Bills 39

Bucs > Rams - I would love to see Stafford make it to the NFCCG, but I don't see them beating Brady and the Bucs. Both teams have a lot of talent and I think this will be a great game. I hope I'm wrong about the outcome. Bucs 35 Rams 28

Packers > 49ers - Similar to Titans/Bengals, the Packers are more healthy and had extra rest. I think this game will be a blowout. And for some reason, 49ers can never beat Packers in playoffs. Packers 35 49ers 21

LOL @ the NFC East. Can we please ban this division from the league? Not only are we subjected to their prime time games every year, but they are a waste of a playoff spot. I'm not surprised to see Cowboys lose at all.  :afro:

It looks like the AFCDS is set:

Bengals @ Titans
Bills @ Chiefs

I think the Bengals can beat the Titans if Derrick Henry is not playing. I really hope the Chiefs don't make it to the Super Bowl again. The Bills already beat the Chiefs this season, but I don't think KC falls twice to the Bills in one season. I hope I'm wrong though.

I have a feeling we will have a Packers vs. Chiefs Super Bowl like PP319 predicted.  :afro:

It's that time of year again - Playoff time!   :mrred:

Here are the current seedings:

1.) Titans
2.) Chiefs
3.) Bills
4.) Bengals
5.) Patriots
6.) Raiders
7.) Steelers

1.) Packers
2.) Bucs
3.) Cowboys
4.) Rams
5.) Cardinals
6.) 49ers
7.) Eagles

My Super Bowl prediction - Chiefs vs. Rams.

Here is how I would rank the teams if I were to root for them:

7.) Patriots - I have nothing against Mac Jones, but I just can't stand this franchise. I was hoping they would be irrelevant for the next decade. I don't think I will ever vote for the Patriots in any type of scenario ever again. I hope the Bills crush them.
6.) Chiefs - I like Patrick Mahomes, but this team is starting to give off Brady Patriots vibes. First off, it seems everything goes their way. Second, there is too much drama surrounding this team. I can't stand Patrick Mahomes family either. They will probably be a SB representing team again, but I hope any team that is not the Patriots eliminates them.
5.) Raiders - I hate the fans more than I hate the team. I remember going to a Ravens-Raiders game years back and their fans acted like complete thugs. I do like how they were able to overcome all the adversity with Gruden's departure.
4.) Steelers - Normally, they would rank towards the bottom of my list. But part of me sort wants to see Big Ben make it far into the playoffs as a part of his farewell tour in the league. Plus, I like how competitive this team despite losing key players over the years.
3.) Bills - I'm still a little bitter over the loss last year, otherwise I would probably rank them towards the top. I think they're one of the teams that can knock the Chiefs out of the playoffs.
2.) Titans - Even though they're pretty big rivals to the Ravens, I really like how talented they are despite losing King Henry. I'm also glad they were able to keep the #1 seed from the Chiefs. Plus, the franchise is ringless and it would be nice to see them get one.
1.) Bengals - They might be a division rival, but I really like what they're doing with Burrow. I really hope they break their 30 year playoff drought this year at least. Just like the Titans, the Bengals are long overdue for a ring.

7.) Packers - Normally I'm indifferent towards the Packers, but this year I can't stand them. Too much drama surrounding Rodgers and his vaccination status. I don't think I could stomach a Chiefs vs. Packers Super Bowl.
6.) Cowboys - I don't hate the team or players, but their fans are pretty annoying. They are pretty much guaranteed to screw up in the playoffs at some point as well.
5.) 49ers - This is a pretty boring team and it doesn't feel like they belong in the playoffs. Plus, they been to the playoffs twice already in the past 10 years so I don't really want to see them again.
4.) Buccaneers - I don't hate the Bucs at all, but I'm so over Tom Brady. Last year I rooted for them because I liked the worst to first story and how it paid off for them to buy all the big name players. Plus, it's hard to hate this franchise considering all the crap they went through over the years. They rank lower due to Brady.
3.) Eagles - I like Jelan Hurts and the recent success this franchise had. To be honest, they don't really feel like a playoff team. But I will easily take them over the teams above.
2.) Rams - I would love to see Stafford to finally get a ring. Plus, they have a lot of good talent on their team. While they've had some success the last several years, they don't really bother me as much as some of the other NFC teams.
1.) Cardinals - I like watching Kyler Murray play and he reminds me of Lamar Jackson. This franchise deserves a ring considering it's one of the oldest in the league. It's a shame they couldn't get the number one seed. I don't think they will make it far in the playoffs, but rooting for them to go all the way. A Bengals vs. Cardinals Super Bowl would be awesome.

So, I finally watched the entire Pearl Necklace of Rama episode. This is first episode of the Reboot that I've watched all the way through. My thoughts on the Reboot and every round of the episode are below. Overall, this was a pretty enjoyable episode and has motivated me to watch the previous episodes. I do have some complaints about the new format of the show which I will list below:

- Moat: Interesting decision to reduce the number of teams from 6 to 4 in the moat round. Not that it matters, since 2 teams ultimately make it to the temple games anyways. It does kind of suck not all 6 teams are present at once. I like how the moat in the Reboot involves a more extensive type of challenge instead of simply having two players trying to make it across without falling in. I always found the moat round in the original show to be uninteresting. I also like how teams receive an introduction, whereas in the OG it was just during the temple games. Although the constant cutting away to get the contestants' commentary might get annoying after watching the show for a while.

The moat round in this episode was pretty entertaining. The Orange Iguanas and Blue Barracudas were neck-and-neck. The Silver Snakes struggled pretty bad with trying to stay afloat. I liked the introduction for Nick and Josh and the flashback to the original show. Although they could've done better with the flashback instead of post a couple of Nick GAS screenshots.  :afro: Josh looks like the same in the face from his original episode, but I would've never guessed that was Nick. I guess not wearing his glasses makes him look like a different person. I wonder if they known each other for a long time? Maybe Nick was the one that got Josh interested in competing on the OG show?

- SOK: Not much has changed about this round. It looks like they are sticking with a cartoony artstyle for the stories. I do like how they kept the original chime for the SOK. Since this show is geared towards an older audience, they can get away with more violence in the legends. Orange Iguanas and Blue Barracudas pretty much dominated this round. LOL @ Nick frantically trying to step on the step markings in order to chime in.

- Temple Games: I'm not a fan of this format of temple games. The teams are pretty much guaranteed to go to the temple with 2 Pendants. In the original show, the more Pendants that you earned meant the more likely you will be safe for all 3 guards. With this new format, the third temple guard is essentially worthless.

- Temple Run: I will admit that I had some major doubts about the temple, but the temple looks great so far. I like the objectives for all the new rooms featured in this episode. It will take some time to get use to them though. I also like how they brought back some old rooms like the Pit of Despair, Dark Forest, and of course the iconic Shrine. I also like the "just assemble the damn monkey" line by Olmec during the temple rundown. It made me chuckle.  The temple runner's contestant POV angle is a nice addition too. I do wish they kept the temple run theme from the original show.

As for the temple run in this episode, I agree with PP319 that Kirk was to blame for Josh and Nick losing. Was there a reason to interrupt the temple run for the Kirk cameo? They could've at least halted the clock while Nick and Josh were talking to Kirk. What if Nick and Josh never made it to the temple? How would they treat Kirk's cameo then? Although Nick wasting time in the Pit of Despair trying to open the door directly leading to the artifact did waste some time. You should know better, Nick.  :afro:

Overall, this was a good episode and it was nice seeing a couple of former contestant's return to the Reboot. I liked how Nick knows that he's famous among the fanbase for his jump out of the temple.  I hope they feature more former contestants in future episodes.
