The Steps of Knowledge / Just so you know
« on: May 23, 2012, 01:52:06 AM »
I've decided to demote myself to a temple guard because I haven't been active enough to justify my role as an admin. This means that Bryan and TSM are the only forum administrators right now. That is all.

The Moat / How happy are you with the new host?

This is a just to get a sense of how happy people are with the uptime/downtime ratio and similar things. The poll will run for a month, and you can change your vote at any time.

EDIT: I removed the time limit since there were a number of switches since this topic was started. Instead, we'll use the poll as a sort of thermometer of how the forum is doing.

The Pit / Temple Runner secrets
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:30:53 PM »
NOTE: This topic was split from the "My dream temple run" topic in the Treasure Room.

Yeah, you really can't tweak the speeds too much before things get unrealistic.  Just two or three notches in either direction, at the most. :P
Heh... yeah, there are definitely some elements of the game that could be refined, like that. The way it works in-game, in case you're wondering, is as follows:

1. There is a "difficulty factor" which is set to something like 195 by default (it's 150 in "easier" mode and 240 in "harder" mode, but not many people know where the cheats menu is to change this setting).
2. The skill of each player ranges from 50 to 150.
3. Subtract the player's skill value from the difficulty factor, then divide this by 100. This number gets multiplied by all the nominal objective completion times in the temple to determine how long something takes. If you work out the numbers, the fastest possible player will have a speed that is about three times the slowest possible player (on the default difficulty). This seemed realistic to me when I was making the game, but it probably could have used some more refinement.

If you want to know some more secrets about the game, just ask. There are a ton of little quirks about the game I'd love to share with people if they're interested.

The Steps of Knowledge / Rules have been updated
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:47:47 AM »
There are no additional rules; the ones that existed have simply been updated for clarity. Also, there's a new "additional points" section which has suggestions and reminders about the forum, but no steadfast rules. Finally, the topic has been re-pinned (not sure why it wasn't earlier).

The Moat / Pinned topics
« on: March 02, 2011, 04:54:16 PM »
The topics that are pinned in each forum have been that way for eons. Which topics that are pinned shouldn't be? Likewise, which topics should be pinned that aren't? Post your thoughts here. If there's a consensus on any suggestion, there's a good chance of it being enacted.

The Steps of Knowledge / Official "Future of Phantom's Temple" Meeting
« on: January 02, 2011, 09:04:55 PM »
Hello Phantom's Temple,

There will be a discussion about the future of the forum beginning tomorrow, January 3rd, 2011 at approximately 5:00 CST. Look for a topic in the Steps of Knowledge or the Moat around that time. Everybody is invited to participate. We hope to see you there!

Your Temple Guards

P.S. I will be a few hours late due to classes, so don't wait for me.

The Pit / Fixing TKS
« on: June 24, 2010, 05:41:53 PM »
Hey everybody,

When I originally compiled TKS' Legends episode list and commented on each episode, it was the first time anything like it had been attempted. There were scrapings of facts available online, but rarely recaps of episodes. The mission my Der-Kommissar-monikered assistant and I shared was to report what we saw as we saw it, just to get it down--just to document what hadn't been reviewed before. But with that mission came a cost. Some of the comments we would write on our episode list in inspired haste weren't perfectly accurate--a truth that this forum has helped me realize over the years.

Because, despite declining site viewership, TKS is still one of the primary sources for Legends information, I would like to set things straight once and for all. This is your chance to debate any fact that is presented on the site. Anything. Maybe a statement in the episode list is wrong; maybe something in a quiz needs tweaking--you name it. I can't promise I will make every single change that is requested, and I can't promise the fixes will appear immediately, but I will be patching up the site where it needs it at some point down the road, and I need your help.

So please do help out if you have anything to share. Also, please correct any of my site assistants' comments if those, too, happen to be inaccurate. Just post in this thread. Thank you!

The Heart Room / Quick Episode Identification Question
« on: February 04, 2010, 03:09:09 AM »
I just got this e-mail:

I was wondering if you know what the episode is called... It has a 13 year old girl named Ashley Gill, she was paired with her cousin, and she was on the team Blue Baracoudas, she won second place. I was wondering if you could tell me the name of that episode (Lengends of The Hidden Temple), if you, by any chance, know.

Anybody know the episode? I was never good with names.
