We could do a Podcast about Legends
« on: April 07, 2010, 12:39:44 PM »
So I got the idea of having a podcast dedicated to the game show Legends or many more. I would love to do one someday with some of the other members on this forum, but what resources do we need to make a podcast? Well I pulled up some links on directions to start or create a podcast.

http://radio.about.com/od/podcastin1/a/aa030805a.htm

http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html

Another problem I'm having is that I don't want to be alone on this idea, but as what happened in the past, everyone here wants to do one cool thing (like getting an interview from a former GUTS contestant), but how are we gonna work together fairly to get it done?

So this is only a concept and I didn't want to contact the owner or mods, rather share this idea to all members and try to see what you think.

So is anyone up for the challenge? We don't have to do this by now, but maybe over the summer when everyone is out of school.

It's do-able, quite frankly, but honestly, how much is there to talk about Legends? And how many people want to listen about Legends?

I'd definitely be down in doing a Legends podcast...but what would each episode be about?

I really don't know. I guess we should plan out what we should talk about. Maybe discuss an episode or two, discuss something off-topic, or do something bigger things through the podcast in the near future (e.g. interview Kirk Fogg, past contestants). We also don't have to do a weekly, monthly, etc., rather it's alright if we do irregular.

Another thing is that if we are going to do a podcast, I do suggest we know each other a little more since we will be talking to each other if that's the case. We don't want to be our first time talking and maybe being nervous to say the first thing straight out. Technically, we have to get to know each other better outside this forum.

We need to have a good sense of communication verbally and socially if we want be successful.

As for the number of people who would listen, I honestly don't know, but there is an audience out there that would love to hear discussions about Legends and come back to that nostalgia. It may not be a lot of people, but once we see if people like our podcast, maybe there will be more people listening to us.

Now I'm gonna link to some podcasts so that you can understand and get an appreciation to what a podcast is. I suggest you right click the link and 'save it as...' since these are direct links to an audio formatted page and that you have enough space on your hard drive, but a lot of these audio files are small from 20 to 50 MB.

It's worth trying if we can get enough of an idea of what could be discussed, honestly.  I'm not the biggest fan of having everything laid out, but if we think we can create a healthy balance between Legends-related and off-topic material, then I say go for it.

I do want to be clear on what "knowing each other a little more" entails, though.  If it's just an issue of talking to each other on something like Skype a few times before trying it, then there's not a problem.  I just want to make sure I interpreted that correctly.

Well whenever we are discussing, I would like to have a good flow of communication upon us or anyone else. I mean we don't have to personally know each other "a little more". I would like to have good feedback from speaker to speaker. It would be bad if we were to have a poorly structured communication, which may lead to inaccurate interpretations, misunderstandings, or not being understandable of each other. So I hope this will explain what I meant.

Hopefully, everyone agrees to that as well. I would love to expand our communications if we can trust each other to do this.

So we'll have to acquire some new experience to create a podcast. Maybe someone who can do some editing and most importantly, how do distribute our content?

So I was trying to search for any podcast that was discussing Nick game shows from GUTS, Wild and Crazy Kids, and Nick Arcade and this is the best one so far:

http://wrecklessmediaradio.com/?s=legends+of+the+hidden+temple

Listen from 1:41:40 to 1:46:00, after that, they talk about cereal.

1:44:40 is where they talk about Legends specifically.

That's great, but the problem I have is that we live in different time zones, including the other members, so it's gonna be tough if you wanna chat with me at an agreeable time. Hopefully, you read the previous posts that discusses our goals of how we should do communication.

But there's one more important question I wanted to ask:

Will any of the mods and admin here want to join in helping me with this little project or podcast?

For the rest:

We already have the technology and hopefully the resources to pull this off, but somehow, I doubt that we have to pay an internet distribution service to distribute our content. Then again, we have Youtube, if the audience accepts us.

After reading a couple of articles on how to do a podcast, I'm sure we don't have to use expensive microphones or any of that fancy stuff.

http://www.guidesandtutorials.com/cheap-podcasting.html

I am thinking of having a format where we could discuss about Legends, as we do in The Heart Room, maybe talk about some of the fan fiction that derives on Legends that you guys create in The Treasure Room, and maybe go off-topic at the end of the podcast, talk about random stuff like what we do in The Jester's Court.

The podcast doesn't have to be a long one, rather we can do it in short amounts of time, like a 6-8 minute podcast.

Unfortunately, I don't have the vast array of knowledge that you guys apparently have about Legends, but I really would love to see this project up and running. Even my skills in public speaking are bad, considering that I have a quiet voice.
