Haha, drunk Legends? Sounds like a grand idea.

The Heart Room / The Crown of Queen Nzinga - an alternate route!?!?
« on: October 30, 2006, 05:52:33 PM »
I definitely saw the door to Medusa's Lair open. However, it's pure conjecture as to whether or not that would be a dead end. It may have been that they left that door open in case a team went across the Troubled Bridge to the Observatory, and then they would be forced down the central shaft. It's also quite possible that the route upstairs would have forced the contestants down from the Shrine of the Silver Monkey or, less likely, the King's Storeroom.

In response to the three-unavoidable-temple-guards statement: the production team put the Temple Spirit into the stage-right tree, possibly thinking that if the player just bust through the wall they would avoid the third temple guard. But again, I wasn't on the production team, so I couldn't say one way or the other. The only thing I really know is that the Laser Light Room/Medusa's Lair door opened.

The Heart Room / The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain

Alright, I watched the run for this episode today, and I noticed a couple of things. First, when Tiffani is in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers, the door leading up to the King's Storeroom moves as though a temple guard is hiding behind it. Secondly, a bright light flashes when the doors open out of the Chamber, which typically happens only when the door leading up to the King's Storeroom is unlocked. And third, even after she grabs the helmet, the door doesn't open.

I suspect that the reason Tiffani got all the way to the room without encountering a temple guard on this run is a production error. My theory is that the door going up to the King's Storeroom was supposed to open in the Chamber, revealing a temple guard. Because it was stuck shut, the temple guard couldn't come out, and when she gets the helmet the door remains closed because it's stuck. (That poor trapped temple guard.)

The temple run from this episode from has somehow found its way onto YouTube at so you can watch it and let me know what you think.

So this topic pretty much died, but the YTMND thing is ... incredible. You have no idea how happy I am to have seen that.

What about the Golden Goblet of Atilla the Hun? Taylor BLEW HIS PARTNER A KISS at the end of the run. Now THAT's a couple that was meant to be.

Hm... Well, there was at least one in the Room of the Secret Password, but apparently inactive, and in one episode, a noise came while a player ascended the Pharoah's Secret Passage, indicating there my have been one at the top of the slide.

Wait, where was the inactive actuator in the Room of the Secret Password?

Jennifer of the Blue Baracudas slipped on some random tarp thing that was on the ground and fell while exiting the temple with John Sutter's Map to the Lost Gold Mine.

I always thought the thing Jennifer tripped on was a bundle of power cords that powered the season 1 temple gates...?

Besides the Dried Apple half of William Tell, four other artifacts were in the Room of the Ancient Warriors in Season 3.  Name those episodes, name the teams and the outcomes of those runs.

The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza, Green Monkeys, made it.
The Bullet-Ridden Handbag of Belle Boyd, Green Monkeys, ran out of time.
The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great, Red Jaguars, made it.
The Snow Cone of Mount Kilimanjaro, Silver Snakes, ran out of time.

Great, thanks a lot! I'll drop Jon a line and see what I can come up with.

I have no idea if this a permissible thing to do on this forum (forgive the n00b), but I'm going to go for it anyway.

I'm hoping to do a bit of tape trading. I don't want to buy any, since that's illegal and the last thing I need is the government giving me a stern lecture. But I have a whole mess of tapes of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" back when it was on PBS (and of course "Legends," that goes without saying), and I'm looking to get some tapes of "Think Fast!" because all of mine wore out long ago. Any takers?

I watch a lot of random stuff. Degrassi TNG and Buffy, for example. But one show didn't make much headway on this list, so I have to mention it:

Think Fast!

That show was my favorite when I was a little kid. (Anyone know where I can get a Think Fast! fix? It's like a drug, only without the legal consequences.)

Or the Discarded Seal of Ivan the Terrible. I'll never forget the first time i rewatched that one. I was like "She's gonna get it!" and then the worst thing that could happen happened. A temple gaurd grabs her. Oh, it's a good one too. It's pretty much the reason that that team doesn't reach the artifact. That and it was an imposible layout, but what ya gonna do? :P

I still remember talking with one of my other Legends-obsessed friends back in the day about how that layout would be supremely difficult, and then sure enough, a season later they did it, and the team didn't make it. Temple guards or not, that was a tough one.

There were a lot of tough layouts in season 3, actually, like the Marble Armrest of Xerxes where the team had to go all the way around the horn to get to the Chamber of the Sacred Markers. Ridiculous. I guess not giving away prizes is one way to cut costs.

The room of the ancient warriors. I would have been scared to death to be grabbed by a temple guard there.

No kidding. The Bent Shaving Pan of Jedediah Smith episode is a good one to watch if you like people being terrorized by temple guards. Sheeeeesh.

The Heart Room / Pendant of Life/Temple Guard Question

In regard to your first question: There are many (or at least several) episodes that I can think of where there was really only one path you could take. Of course, a number of them occur when the team has 2 pendants, but there is at least one where the team has 1.5 that I can recall: The Lost Taj Mahal Turban of Aurangzeb.

#2: This is a question I've been asking myself since (and especially about) the early episodes of the first season. Sure, in a number of episodes, the teams could have made it by entering through a different room or taking a different path. But if they say the other half is hidden in the temple, don't you think they should, I don't know, hide it like they said? If I was a contestant and they told me they hadn't hidden the half pendant, I'd be pretty miffed. Anybody else have thoughts on this?

The world may never know the answers to questions 3 and 4.

okay everyone always says that in the taj mahal turban there was no way to avoid all three temple guards but there was one way to avoid the shrine guard. after compleating the chamber of the sacred markers objective. the player could have gone down into the tomb of the headless kings. nothing suggests that the door wasn't open.

You know what? You're right. I'm going to rewatch that run later tonight and check it out, but from what I recall, it's very possible that the door opened going down. For some strange reason, I honestly have never thought of that possibility.

Assuming the Chamber/Tomb door was locked, there was no way to avoid the Shrine temple guard.

Your quest is to find the Unfortunately Placed Thumbtack of Super Robotnik and bring it back here.

By the way, while we're posting links to LOTHT/YouTube stuff, this one's pretty weird too.
