Question...concerns artifact names in fanfics...

Just a quick question. I'm planning on posting some of my fanfics in the Treasure Room soon, and some of the artifacts I've come up with are similar to some posted in the "Make Up Your Own Artifacts" thread. Do I need to get permission from these people to use these artifact names, and if so, how do I do it?

Technically speaking, you need to get permission from the applicable members before you publish any derivative works, unless what you're doing is a parody. Some members have explicitly specified that the rights to their artifact names are their own, but this right actually extends to any published work unless stated otherwise.

(Really, fan fiction is illegal because we did not get permission from Nickelodeon or Stone Stanley, so it may be wise to thank them in your work, too. We'll continue to host it on this forum, though, unless we're instructed otherwise.)

Long story short: ask and get formal permission before you post, unless you're parodying. You might do this through a PM or any post in this thread.
