You can never go wrong with Lawrence of Arabia. And it is my second all time favorite episode, so I would be more than glad to talk about it again.  :monkeys2:

Awesome, I'll probably start it either later tonight or tomorrow.

Also, this regards the OP and "new" averages. I was thinking of including both the original averages and the new ones in the OP. The chart would look a little something like this:

Author:Average:
The Red Jaguars
Purple Parrots Fan
8.9
8.8

Of course, the original author would have their names bolded. I figure we can include both averages in the chart in the OP as well. But I want to get your permission first. What do you think of this idea? ;)

Alright, I just finished the rewrite of Lawrence of Arabia. I'm not gonna spoil anything, but let's just say you won't be disappointed with the final average. Check it out. ;)

Out of all the episodes on the show, I think Lawrence of Arabia is the one that deserves to crack the 9 range the most. I ranked this episode highly because every round was top quality for sure. I am glad your review shows the same thing.  The Green Monkeys were a beastly team too all day. They dominated the moat and David was very swift in crossing it. It was a close moat and thankfully no one cheats like Ron. ;) The legend was very interesting too. There are a lot of works that talk about Sir Lawrence, so the legend is actually pretty accurate. The Steps of Knowledge was probably my most favorite SoK round on the show. I mean every team eventually made it to the second to last step! I remember Candace's generous "hump" answer being accepted. But I would not count it against her either. It wasn't like the "part at the bottom of your foot" answer.

All three temple games were great too. If the Green Monkeys didn't dominate them so much, I might give it a higher score for the unique sequence. I loved all three of those temple games. The first one used was unique to S1L9 and was very creative. And of course I loved the dragon tunnel and the slippery slope game as a team game. David and Candace sweep the temple games to earn the rights to enter Olmec's temple!

And the temple run was very exciting too. It is my second favorite after Annie Taylor.   :mrblue: It was the one win that actually kept at the edge of my seat. I am not usually bothered by most people's opinions, but it bothers me when people on Youtube call David an average player. Some old board members like TPP and TBF have said the same things. He was one of the best players ever on the show. Just because he was in Season 1 doesn't make him any less of a player than a later season player. He did a solid job in taking over for Candace, and his exit plan was just a masterpiece. I like his exit plan way more than Gator and Zac's.  Overall, this was a wonderful temple win and Nickelodeon did a excellent job in choosing this to be the first episode to air.  I loved David's dominance, Candace's enthusiasm, and Kirk's excessive Fogg-Ups in this episode.

I am glad to see Lawrence of Arabia getting a 9 score. I didn't expect it to rank that high when I first reviewed it, but I was glad for it to be tied with Mussel-Shell Armor. Now it has the best score ever, which I am glad to see! Annie Taylor and Pirate Captain are the other reviews I want to see a 9+ score too. Great job with this review and I definitely agree with your score!

Yeah, I figured it was about time an episode scored in the 9 range. And what a better episode to make it than Lawrence of Arabia! And yeah, episodes like Lucky Pillow and Lost Hornpipe will probably rank in the 9 range as well, should you choose to rewrite those. I also agree that David is an excellent player and NOT average like some people like the claim. I mean, look at his exit plan for goodness sakes. That was genius! :o As for my next rewrite, I'm thinking of doing Annie Oakley next. :mrpurple: Which coincidentally, you wrote just before you did Lawrence of Arabia.

So it is time for me to start revisiting some of these episode reviews. I figured what better way to do this then to visit Lucky Pillow!  :mrblue: I used the format from PPF's review including the pictures to write this one. So credit for her for the pictures. ;)

Also PPF, I did remove your content from the review for the time being. That is because I am coming up with a neat format where both of our content can remain in one review. So please don't be upset that your content is gone. I promise that I will put it back shortly and once you see the new format I am sure you like it. So it is only temporary and I be sure to make it look like when you first wrote the review. ;)  :mrblue:

THE LUCKY PILLOW OF ANNIE TAYLOR

MOAT: 7/10

(credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for this image")

The six teams had to cross this moat by having each player shimmying across an "ancient fallen rod". When Kirk gives the signal, the first player had to shimmy across the rod while hanging upside-down. When they cross safely, then the second player had to cross the same way. Once both players reach the other side safely, then they can hit their gongs to move onto the next round. The first four players that make it the other side will safely will win. This moat was a pretty tough challenge for the teams as it relied on upper body strength to get across. This moat did take a little extra time to finish too. The Orange Iguanas and Blue Barracudas crossed with no problem, but the Red Jaguars and Purple Parrots struggled. Despite the lengthy moat, I enjoyed the unique challenge that it had to offer. And honestly, all of the moats during this day was long too. Just look at the Atocha and Emiliano Zapata moat!

LEGEND: 10/10

(credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for this image")

One of the greatest daredevils of all time was Annie Taylor. When she turned 50 she decided that she would be the first person to go over Niagara Falls inside a barrel. She had a carriage maker build her a barrel with a harness to hold her in place. The county coroner thought that Annie had gone mad when he heard of her plans and insisted that she should not do it. But Annie did not listen to him. With the crowd watching, Annie put herself inside the barrel, strapped herself in, and put a heart-shaped red satin pillow behind her head. Annie drifted in the water and went over the waterfall while her barrel remained intact and came out injury-free! When a reporter asked how Annie did it, she gave all her credit to her Lucky Pillow. The town put up a plaque in her honor, but the Lucky Pillow was soon forgotten about. The Lucky Pillow eventually made its way to Olmec's Temple.

I enjoyed this legend and it remains as one of my favorite legends on the show. Annie Taylor was an interesting historical figure to cover because you don't hear much about her. The legend did a great job staying true to the real Annie Taylor story and didn't have any silly characters or lines in it. Furthermore, the Lucky Pillow was a very beautiful artifact and much better than most that were featured on the show.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 8/10

(credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for this image")

For the most part, this round was pretty good. All of the questions asked by Olmec surrounded the legend for the most part. The Blue Barracudas got all of their questions correct and made it to the bottom first. The Purple Parrots soon joined them and Stuart even got one correct without Olmec revealing any answers. There was one wrong answer from the Orange Iguanas, but it was a tough question anyways and was not mentioned in the legend. I would've liked to see a little more competition too in this round. Overall, it was still an enjoyable round to watch.

TEMPLE GAMES: 9/10

(credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for this image")

The temple games featured John and Missy of the Blue Barracudas facing off against Jamea and Stuart of the Purple Parrots. In the first temple game, Jamea and John had to climb up the cliffs of Niagara Falls by pushing in the holes of the cliff to create a path up to the top. Once they reached the top, they had to ride the waterfall back down. The first player to ride the waterfall after 60 seconds will win. Both John and Jamea struggled in this temple game to find the right holes in the wall to climb to the top. John was having even more trouble finding the right foot holes to reach the top. Despite neither player reaching the hanger at the top, Jamea was ruled the winner because she was further along than her opponent. In the second temple game, Stuart and Missy had to place plugs inside the holes to prevent Annie's barrel from leaking. If they were correct, then they will not be squirted with water and rewarded a point. The entire game was a luck-based game and every hole the two players tried using was just a complete guess. In the end, Stuart got more correct guesses than Missy and earns the Purple Parrots another half-pendant. With a score of 1-0, the Parrots enter the final temple games while leading! In the team game, both players were inside a boat and had to use their oars to retrieve a lifeboat from the other side and bring it back to the dock. While inside the boat, neither player can put their feet on the ground or else they will have to start over. The first player that brings their lifeboat back to the dock after 60 seconds will win. This temple game came down to the wire, but the Blue Barracudas made an incredible comeback and edge out the Purple Parrots! Due to the final 1-1 score, the teams are forced into a tiebreaker!

After their amazing comeback in the team game, the Blue Barracudas and Purple Parrots ready themselves for the tiebreaker question. The tiebreaker question was "Does the Great Lakes empty into the - Mississippi River, St. Lawrence River, or Delaware River?" John of the Barracudas answers "St. Lawrence River". After a slightly delay from Olmec, he confirms the answer as being correct and Missy and John enter the rights to enter Olmec's temple! As John and Missy are celebrating, you can totally see John groping Missy's breasts. Overall, this was a very memorable and exciting temple games round. The comeback in the team game and the "tiebreaker touch" makes this a round that you can forget. Plus, Missy almost being in tears after winning the tiebreaker makes this round more enjoyable to watch.  :mrblue:

TEMPLE RUN: 10/10

(credits to "Purple Parrots Fan" for this image")

If there was ever an award for the "most magical temple win" on the show, it has to be Missy's win. Missy was a very nervous player before entering the temple. She was so nervous and excited that she was in tears before the run even started! The temple run itself was a solid effort by Missy too! After choosing to go first, Missy starts by entering the Ledges where she is temple guard free and enters the Pit of Despair with no problem. After the Pit, she tries climbing the wall in order to try Medusa's Lair where the Lucky Pillow was hidden, but has no luck with the door. The bottom door was the only one open, so she then heads to the bottom floor of the temple. In the Throne Room, Missy meets a temple guard that scares her before she gains entry to the Swamp. In the Dark Forest, Missy cleverly used the Shrine shortcut which grants her access to the top floor. In the Shrine, she has a little trouble assembling the Silver Monkey. She even drops it on the floor and you can see pieces of it falling off. After completing the Silver Monkey, time starts to wind down and the crowd is starting to go crazy! We finally hear Kirk's normal voice again too and Missy finally enters Medusa's Lair and grabs the Lucky Pillow. Now everyone is going wild including John and Kirk, and Missy escapes to the temple gates to score the very first center of the temple win!  :mrblue: At the end of the run, Missy was in tears and John and Kirk were ecstatic! John even gives Missy another celebratory boob grope.

Overall, this was one of the best temple runs on the show. Unfortunately, it is also one of the most criticized temple runs also. People like to over-analyze Missy's performance and try to criticize for every little mistake she made. Truth be told, not every temple run has to feature a player like Gator or Zac. Missy's performance was perfectly fine. Plus, the emotional factor and the enthusiasm from the crown and everyone else made this run extra special. Missy's emotions also added to the memorableness of this run. This run is truly an enjoyable and inspirational experience!  :mrblue:

FINAL VERDICT: 8.8/10

"Lucky Pillow" is one of the best episodes on the show and is very legendary among the Legends fanbase. Ever since I first watched it, it has remained my all time favorite episode. It is an episode that I can never get tired of watching. The final score shows that this episode was very strong. Every round was high quality and there was never a single dull moment. The highlights of this episode include the very interesting legend and beautiful artifact. The temple games were intense with the Blue Barracudas making an amazing comeback in the team game and then turning around and winning the tiebreaker too! The temple run was also a classic and Missy's win was legendary! Despite all the criticism this episode gets, it remains as a Legends fanbase favorite among many fans. Missy's enthusiasm and emotions make this episode truly special! If you haven't watched this episode already, you are missing out on an unforgettable experience! I would easily recommend this episode to anyone and to watch it many times there after too!  :mrblue:

Good old Lucky Pillow, the episode with the infamous boob grab. What a great first episode to rewrite. :mrblue: Enough has been said about this episode, and your review got a higher ranking than mine too. But we both ranked most of the rounds the same, so there's not too much difference. I'm also glad you brought up the fact that this temple run gets criticized just because Missy "took a direct path" and "didn't move as fast as Paula." Who cares if she was too slow? Her win was the most magical (in your words, and I couldn't agree more), most epic ever on the show, and she deserved to win. Too bad the episode didn't crack the 9 range. But like Apanuugpak, it received an 8.8 average, so close enough. ;)

Great review, I love Lucky Pillow and it deserves all the love that it gets. :mrblue: And I'm sure Brent will love this episode review too. Should he stumble upon this thread again. :mrblue: And what exactly is this "new format" gonna look like? Not that I have any problem with it, but is it gonna look like the format I've been rewritting your reviews in? Because I still want to use that format, and copy and paste all of your stuff onto my review. Just like what I have been doing. ;) And yes I did edit your review a little. But only to fix typos, not mess with what you wrote.

And one more thing, if you're taking requests, can you do Applewood Amulet next? ;) Like Lucky Pillow, that episode also gets heavily criticized, and I just don't understand why. Plus, they were both filmed the same day and got an 8.4 rating from me. As for me, I'm gonna do Annie Oakley next. Another center of the room "Annie" artifact, and it has a lot of similarities to Lucky Pillow. So why not? :mrpurple:

And I just got done rewritting another episode. This time, it's Leopard Skin Cloak. Both of our scores are near identical, and I used the same "edit post/review" format. So go check it out and tell me what you think. ;) :mrpurple:

Wow, our scores for Annie Oakley are pretty close. In fact, they are literally .10 points apart. :mrpurple: No surprise though, because it was definitely a strong episode with one of the strongest Purple Parrot teams ever.  :mrpurple: I loved the legend used in this episode. The producers did a great job describing Oakley's accuracy with the gun. And she also sounded badass too. But the Leopard-Skin Cloak was totally a random artifact too. I mean they didn't even mention it until the last line of the legend. :o The temple games were good too, and followed the legend very well. Even though they ended in a sweep, I still enjoyed the sequence used. The trapeze one was pretty uncommon in Season 2, while this episode was the last time the "spinning horse" game was used. As for the temple run, it was a good effort and fun to watch. Chandra did a solid job with her path. However, she cursed her team when she used the Mine Shaft elevator. That wasted a lot of time and probably would've saved her 45+ seconds. Nick did a good job following up on her steps too, but it was too late by the time she was removed. It was definitely one of the best losses on the show though. And I enjoyed it very much too.  :mrpurple:

And this run is further evidence that Shane from Ahmed Baba got lucky with his layout. I don't mind if people like this win a lot, but that doesn't mean he didn't get lucky. Taking the longest route possible is never advised, but he still got away with it and won. And it didn't matter if Chandra took the Shrine shortcut anyways because she met the one room away guard. So her layout was more brutal from the start.

Overall, Annie Oakley got a great score from us! 7.6/7.7 is very high for an episode that ended in a loss. Imagine if Chandra and Nick won? It would've been the original Purple Parrot Pwnage. And I think it would give Lawrence of Arabia and Apanuugpak a run for its money! Right now, Annie Oakley has the second highest score for a losing episode after Discarded Seal. ;) :mrpurple:

But the problem with Shane is, he gets praised when he was nothing special at all. He didn't have to pass through 9 rooms, but he did. If Chandra actually had won the whole thing solo, then I would've had more respect for her because it was the first time the Purple Parrots won. And it would've been PP Pwnage since that would've meant Chandra and Nick dominated literally EVERY single round. And like you said, that layout was hard. Both objective wise and temple guard placement wise. Though if Chandra had used the Forest/Shrine passage, she would've saved A LOT of time, like you said. And she'd probably be removed with about 1:30 left on the clock. Or, if the third temple guard had been in the Dark Forest, (which I always thought it was), then she could've been removed there and Nick can finish the job, grab the artifact and win. Ahmed Baba was just an uneventful, forgettable temple run where Shane gets overpraised for a layout any team could've won. Leopard Skin Cloak was much more memorable than that run.

Oh, and I still want to ask this question:

Quote
And what exactly is this "new format" gonna look like? Not that I have any problem with it, but is it gonna look like the format I've been rewritting your reviews in? Because I still want to use that format, and copy and paste all of your stuff onto my review. Just like what I have been doing.

As for my next rewrite, I want to take on an Orange Iguana episode next. ;) Maybe I'll do Atocha, or maybe Nostradamus. Just to see if either episode cracks the 8 range. I know the latter episode might. But I don't know about Atocha.

I am not sure yet about the new episode review format. It doesn't really work with this forum when I tested it. I like the format that you are using too and it is much easier to keep one review together than to have multiple ones. So I don't mind if you edit your Annie Taylor review to include my part too. And you can do it the same way you have been doing your episode reviews with mine. ;) I would edit my part into yours, but I am not a mod so I can't edit your post.

And I will definitely take Annie Oakley over Ahmed Baba any day.  :mrpurple:  Despite being a loss, Annie Oakley still finished with a much higher score than that episode. I personally would rate Ahmed Baba a 5/10 because it is so boring and I don't remember anything. I can remember episodes like Genghis Khan and Snake Bracelet more than I remember Ahmed Baba.

But yeah, I am going to try and continue revisiting some of these episodes that I never wrote for either. I know that you mentioned Emiliano Zapata earlier, and I would totally write a review for that episode.  As for an Orange Iguana episode, Atocha and Nostradamus are both great choices.  :mrorange: I don't see Atocha cracking the 8-range unfortunately because of the long moat. Nostradamus might actually do that though. ;) And there is also Sir Gawain you can review too.  :mrorange:

Yeah, I just think it's easier to just edit the reviews to include the new tidbits than to start a new review from scratch. I mean, remember when we posted the episode review for Sacagewea and had trouble with the size tags due to potential bandwidth issues? The format I use is definitely easier and will save space. And since you can't edit my posts, you can PM me your tidbits on your episode review, and I'll gladly cut and paste them to my review. And I'll give you credit for what you wrote. ;)

And I agree, and we even compared both Ahmed Baba and Annie Oakley in another thread here not long ago. Naturally, Annie Oakley won in almost every category, and I'm glad it did too. :mrpurple: You're right about other forgettable wins like Genghis Khan and Snake Bracelet being more memorable than Ahmed Baba. I gave the temple run for the latter episode a 6/10, and that's probably what I'd give the episode in general too, if not a 5/10. Annie Oakley is in the same tier as Ivan the Terrible to me, great episodes despite being losses. :mrpurple:

As for Atocha, I definitely don't see it cracking the 8 range, due to the long moat, like you said. And if you do actually review Applewood Amulet next, I'll totally rewrite Atocha not long after. Which is exactly what we did when we were writing the original reviews. And PS, I wrote Sir Gawain, it was one of my first reviews. So you would have to be the one to rewrite it. That can potentially crack the 8 range too. ;)

EDIT: And I cut and pasted everything you wrote in Lucky Pillow right here. You can keep your rewrite on it, but now everything has been cut and pasted to my original review. And I gave you credit for everything. ;) I should also add a "bonus" section to the tiebreaker too. And add the boob grab picture (of GIF) to the review. I actually should've done it sooner. How does that sound?

I just reviewed "Genghis Khan" and sent you a copy of my review with the PM. I used the same format that you have been doing with my reviews. So all you have to do is copy it from the PM and place it into your Genghis Khan review. ;) Overall, it got a slightly higher score than you gave it.  I chose this episode because of nostalgia as I remember seeing it during my childhood.  :mrred:
