If I recall, it was difficult to tell. Kirk usually smiled during that "I am" thing, anyway. Also, welcome to the forum!

Well, yeah, he was the frontrunner and did very well; however, he encountered two temple guards--one in the Throne Room, and another in the Shrine of the Silver Monkey--and so he was removed from the temple.

Wasn't that the episode were his partner went up to the Crypt instead of the Ledges or whatever it was and got taken out there and that was the end of the run?

But Kirk still said who was going first.  It was also in the Moccasins of Geronimo.
