Some Questions about Temple Runs
« on: May 04, 2014, 06:16:40 PM »
I've been watching some LotHT episodes lately, and I have some questions that I want to hear a few opinions on. My first question is one that's porbably been discussed already. What happened in the Golden Cup of Belshazzar? Were there 2 production errors? Was the production crew just being extremely cruel with the 2 room dead-end? I find it hard to believe they would purposefully make a 2 room dead-end. My other question is about the Sultan Sulieman episode. What do you guys think the layout was? Did the Storeroom<->Shrine door open, or did this layout have the infamous Middle Shaft/Top Shaft/Storeroom area triangle to nowhere? I don't see how the Shrine door couldn't have opened. If it hadn't, the layout would be easy (Down central shaft and then go through the swamp). However, if the door did open, this run could've been a solo run.  Also, anyone else can feel free to post questions about temple runs/layouts Sorry if I seem like I have no idea what I'm talking about  :mrblue:

Belshazzar was production error galore. I have a feeling the Room of Harmonic Convergence was indeed a production error. I highly doubt the producers would make a dead end out of that. Same with the Treasure Room. Belshazzar was a totally broken layout, so those had to be production errors. And I'm pretty sure the Storeroom/Shrine door didn't open in the Sultan Suleiman run. I know the Observatory/Medusa's Lair door opened, but not the Storeroom/Shrine door. Then again, they don't really show it, so I'm not quite sure about that either.

I originally though that the Shrine/Storeroom door didn't open, but when she completes the Kings Storeroom, she glances at the door, but goes to the Medusa's Lair instead. When she runs to the Medusa's lair door, Kirk says something like "Oh, she's going back?" which makes it seem like the door opened. But that could just be Kirk being Kirk. If the layout didn't have the Shrine/Storeroom door open, they should have atleast kept the Observatory/Lair door locked. That would've been an interesting layout. And yeah, the Belshazzar kids got screwed over. How could they overlook 2 production errors that made winning literally impossible?

Yeah, it was probably Kirk just being Kirk. More than half the time he had no idea what he was talking about. He was probably just commenting on Gracelyn detouring into Medusa's Lair. And the Belshazzar team was completely screwed over. Katherine and Sean were robbed, they definitely deserved a second chance at the temple. Especially since their run was already postponed enough as it is.

I definitely think the Room of Harmonic Convergence was a production error in the "Belshazzar" run. Katherine tried every combination possible, and at one point I think you can hear a "door chime" or something like that. I don't think the producers would be that cruel to put a two-room dead end in the first place, even if it was Season 1. I don't know if the Treasure Room was a dead end or production error. Right before Katherine is taken out of the Treasure Room by the temple guard, you can hear another "chime" similar to when Mitchell opened up the treasure chest in his run. So I think that the Red Jaguars were suppose to go down. But it is not clear if the door below happened. Too bad Sean and Katherine's layout was so broken because they were a fast team and already had to deal with a postponed temple run. After Ivan the Terrible, I would give the Belshazzar team a second chance.

As for "Sultan Suleiman", I always wondered if the Shrine did open from the King's Storeroom? This makes me think it is a possible scenario because of Kirk telling Gracelyn that she was going the wrong way. Also, this layout could've been similar to "Electrified Key" where Brian and Gracelyn could've avoided Medusa's Lair and score a solo win. So perhaps Brian and Gracelyn had a solo shot in their run?
