The Heart Room / Legends Hot Takes and Unpopular Opinions
« on: December 20, 2019, 09:19:32 PM »
Not expecting this to get much attention but here are mine:

The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid run is overrated and not an impressive win since the path was literally easier than the Butch Cassidy layout.

The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy run is overhated and is boring at worst. Paula gets too much shit for having a path that happened to avoid hard objectives.

The wall would have broken down in Nzinga.

What are some of yours? Disagree with any of mine?

I’m hoping it’s not too different from the original! They can mess with everything but the temple. I need ladders and secret passages and rooms with silly objectives stacked on top of each other. I think I’m in the age range to be on the show so I’ll definitely be trying to get on it if I can find out how to apply.

Aww I miss Phantom’s Temple. This place really was a home for me at a certain point in my life. It was so much fun debating half-pendant locations, playing silly games, and just talking with you guys here in the spam thread. It was so awesome to have a community of people who were so passionately obsessed with the same obscure interest that I had. A place like this is so hard to come by, and I’m so grateful that I was able to be a part of this awesome community. Thank you guys for making me feel welcome and included because that was and still is such a rare feeling for me in my life. I hope all of you are doing well and living happy lives. I think about you guys all the time and I want you all to know that I have so much love for all of you. In an ideal world we would all come back together as a community at some point, but I know that in the real world we’ve all moved on and that’s okay. I cherish all the memories I have of this place and will forever hold Phantom’s Temple in my heart.

The Heart Room / Re: The Crown of Queen Nzinga temple run question
« on: February 16, 2019, 08:17:16 PM »
This run has been on my mind lately and I think I have come to a reasonable conclusion about the temple guard placement and the wall being breakable. I believe that the wall would have been breakable AND the passage to the shrine would have opened. The outcome of this run was likely based on two factors that occur around the same point in the run. The first is whether the Renee grabs the half-pendant or not. The second is if she searches for the Dark Forest key or breaks through the wall.
  • As we know, Renee did not find the half-pendant and opted to search for the key, and as a result the run ended in a triple capture. This is the only scenario where this occurs.
  • If the half pendant was grabbed and she looked for the key, she would safely encounter the guard, find the key, take the passage up to the Shrine and then go left into the Lightning Ball room to get the crown.
  • Regardless of she found the half-pendant, if she had busted through the wall, I think she would have had to take he diagonal passage into the Shrine. The screenshots posted by PP319 and I show that the elevator was not in the Mine Shaft during the run, so Renee would not have been able to take it up to get the crown. It could be argued that the wall would not have broken down because of this, but I don't believe that's true. I can't recall many half-pendant runs from season 2 that forced all 3 guards. The forest guard in Nzinga was notably place in the right tree, which means that Renee likely could have completely avoided even the chance of the temple guard trying to grab by just breaking through the wall.

The only thing I could go either way about is if the Shrine/Forest passage would open or not. I think it would open to reward the player for finding the half-pendant by letting them avoid the Mine Shaft and the confusion that would likely ensue when they see that there's no elevator. However, I could also see it being locked to force the 'no elevator in the Mine Shaft' scenario because it was never done before and would have made for a good TV.

All that being said, what the hell was up with the Medusa's Lair door opening?

I think it could be a way to introduce kiddos to LotHT and see how the current generation rates it. It makes sense because a movie is probably less work to produce than 40 episodes of the show. Why would they risk gathering hundreds of contestants, filming hours and hours of footage, and constructing a whole new temple if they don't have an idea of how the show would rate or if many children would watch it? It would make sense to just make a movie and then use that test the waters. This is all assuming they're even considering bringing the show back obviously and I could just be wrong  :mrblue:

Strike 1 for Missy. Jessica deserves #1, and Missy's overrated imo.

I think that Bifocal Monocle's layout was really dickish. It basically punished the team for using logic (in this case, moving toward the artifact rather than away from it) and was a really harsh layout to give a Season 3 team.

I also think that Edmund Hillary was harder then Mush Pot because the Observatorybwas locked from the Troubled bridge and becausw it required atleast 3 floor switches.
