Ways to Improve Losing Temple Runs

Since I watched this temple run recently, I would switch the player order in "Lost Hammer". This temple run would've had a chance at a solo chance if the team started in the Room of Three Gargoyles and entered the Throne Room from the Pit. I would send Nick into the temple first and have him start in the Gargoyle Room and enter the Throne Room from Wall Climb for a solo shot at a temple win. I know I use to give Nick crap in the past for wasting time in the temple, but after rewatching this run he did a pretty good job with what little time Kim left him in the temple. Sure he wasted time trying to climb into the Golden Idols, but it wasn't a bad idea for him to try a short cut. And he still managed to finish 2 rooms away from the artifact. Long story short, keep Kim away from the temple in this episode.

You mean "Billy"? Silver Snake Nick Borey was in Henry the Eighth's Great Seal.

Sir Edmund Hillary and Anne Bonny: Tara & Ron avoid the center shaft and these becomes easy wins.

Atahualpa: Chris avoids Heart Room and this would be solo.

Pecos Bill: Chris takes the top floor instead of the bottom.

Benjamin Franklin: Peter avoids Medusa’s Lair and goes into the King’s Storeroom, and this would’ve been solo.

Montezuma: Had Kevin gone straight into the Ledges and avoided Medusa’s Lair, this would’ve been solo and Kelly never drops the Monkey.

Iron Mask: Danielle avoids Medusa’s Lair and this is solo.

Icarus: Let’s see this run was really screwed up. Should not have gone to the Observatory since it was backtracking, Avoid Mandarin Hand on the way out, and not stall in the Observatory on the way out. Remember this was a one second loss.

Me Linh: Switch the runners

Poseidon: GET THE TRIDENT, need I say more? Also exit route sucked.

That’s what I got so far. I need to rewatch some of these.

For Anne Bonny, I would have Ron go into the temple first and get removed early in the Throne Room or Fallen Columns. And Fred would follow-up as a second runner and hopefully take the Troubled Bridge out of the temple. This was a very easy layout because Ron grabbed the artifact with 53 seconds despite being slow and clueless.

For Lost Lariat, I would probably have Colleen wait a couple of extra seconds after completing the Observatory objective so she could take the Treasure Room shortcut. If she went straight into the Treasure Room, it would've been a solo run and maybe have a chance to beat Shaka Zulu's time?

It's amazing that neither Jason or Kimberly won in the Icarus and Poseidon runs. They were both doing a pretty okay job before reaching their artifacts. Both contestants reached their artifacts with plenty of time, but both screwed around and lost near the entrance room of the temple.

I'm not sure sending Karisa into the temple first for the Enormous Feather run would change the success of it. She was way too slow and stupid. I can't imagine her trying to complete the bottom floor rooms as a frontrunner.  Fortunately, David was fast but I don't think Karisa would've left him enough time. The only way I could see this run being successful is David avoiding the temple spirit in the Dark Forest similar to Joel in the Enormous Iron Nose Ring run. This team was doom from the start thanks to Karisa.

I agree with your other suggestions.  ;)

Some ideas from my view:

Cricket Cage: Take the videotape, douse it in gasoline, and light it on fire.

Kamehameha: A simple one. If Robbie goes straight to the Observatory from the Pit (the door opened when Tina spun the sundial), he has himself a solo win.

Henry VIII: Shay starting in the Gargoyles instead of the Cave (provided the team wouldn't be forced into the Cave from there) would at the very least have prevented a triple seizure. Winning could still be tricky given that Shay would've been taken out one room away under this scenario.

Lucky Pig: Reverse order of players (duh  ) and start in the Cave of Sighs instead of the Gargoyle Room. Other than the Room of Harmonic Convergence, where the Pig was, the Cave of Sighs and Heart Room were the only rooms that Kristen didn't enter. The Gargoyle Room had a guard, so I highly doubt the Cave of Sighs would have had one, too. So unless the team would have have been forced into the Gargoyles from the Cave, this would make it a solo win.

Blackbeard: Reverse order of players (duh  ). There's no way James would've been as incompetent as Sabrina. Right?

Lost Fountain of Youth: Same as Lucky Pig, though the start point change is for a different reason. The placement of the guards basically forced them to encounter all three to have a prayer at winning.

Secret Battle Plan: Inform the judges that Olmec said nothing about the pieces in the "Attack Philadelphia" temple game having to be oriented the right way, thereby preventing the Silver Snakes from being screwed out of the full pair of pendants (and in turn preventing a triple capture, though Cristina finding the plainly visible half pendant, which James had earlier signaled to her, would've taken care of that, too).

Lost Lion Tail: Keep the Silver Snakes from knocking over their sign in the third temple game, thereby preventing the Purple Parrots from making it to the temple in the first place.

Dolley Madison: Another simple one. If Matt starts in the Crypt instead of the Ledges, he has himself a solo win.

Marble Armrest: Make the writers put some effort into the tiebreaker question, so the least deserving team doesn't make it to the temple on the easiest tiebreaker of all time.

Also, the producers could have picked a better spot in the Dungeon for other half of Nick Borey's pendant.

I love the list you posted, TSM. I agree with everything you said in your post too. For temple runs like Lost Lion Tail, Golden Cricket Cage, and Xerxes those temple teams were so bad that they were doomed to fail no matter how much you try to correct them. In those episodes, the losing temple team should've gone to the temple.

Word on the Nathan Hale suggestion. I definitely think the Silver Snakes got screwed in the "Attack Philadelphia" game. No where in the rules did it mention that the players had to have to word in exact orientation. Although Christina still was a big failure for not finding the most obvious half-pendant that both Kirk and James pointed out. I think James should've gone to the temple second though. He would've found the half-pendant AND was faster than Christina. Even if Christina found the half-pendant, they would've still lost due to her being so slow.

I agree that Lucky Pig would've been a solo run if the team started in the Cave of Sighs and took Kristen's exact path. This layout was pretty long, but a competent player should've been able to grab the artifact. After all, Kristen came up one room short despite being slow and clueless. Scott should've gone in first and started in the Cave of Sighs for a solo run.

Here are a few more:

Gordian Knot - Send Retina into the temple first and have her get removed in the Tomb of the Ancient Kings. She really wasn't a bad player aside from taking the Well elevator. If she went into the temple first, she should've been removed with about 2 minutes left. Tim was definitely faster than Retina and hopefully he tries to take the Shrine shortcut.

Joan of Arc - Same strategy as Gordian Knot. Send Mandy into the Room of Three Gargoyles and have her removed in the Room of Harmonic Convergence. Speedy Eddy would follow-up on her path and maybe grab the artifact.

Harriet Tubman - Send Ryann into the temple first. She could actually start in the Crypt if she wanted to and get removed early in the temple. And Chris would've hopefully found the half-pendant and score a win. This didn't look like a hard temple layout considering the Dark Forest door was already open for them. The other solution would be for Ryann to actually follow her partner's path.  :afro:

Egyptian King - Have Josh enter into the temple first and have him take the King's Storeroom from the Pit. Josh probably wouldn't have dropped his Pendant of Life AND would've completed his rooms faster. After getting removed in the Room of the Ancient Warriors. Kerry should have enough time to grab the artifact and possibly win.

You mean "Maggie"? Kerry was the female Orange Iguana in The Cracked Crown of the Spanish King. Also, imaginary contestants need to be used in the game I made. The following are what I have so far.

Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand: Jason Shaughnessy and Paige Benbow
John Henry's Lost Hammer: Faith Godfrey and Howard Croft
The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan: Anthony Guinness and Francesca Serpico

TRJ, do you want to go next in my game?

Here are the solutions for the runs where the second prize was awarded.

The Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary: Tara should have crossed the Troubled Bridge.
The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa: Chris should have gone straight into the Holes of Python from the Throne Room.
King Tut’s Cobra Staff: Eusenia should have gone straight into the Treasure Room from the Heart Room.
Pecos Bill’s Lost Lariat: Chris should have busted through the Stone Wall right after grabbing the lariat.
The Treasure of Anne Bonny: Same solution for the Medal of Sir Edmund Hillary.
The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief: I await your thoughts.
The Mush Pot Hat of Johnny Appleseed: I await your thoughts.
The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon: I await your thoughts.
The Golden Earring of Henry Morgan: I await your thoughts.
The Broken Wing of Icarus: Jason should have done the following:
1. Stayed out of the Observatory.
2. Swung across the Pit like the Jason in the episode before his did.
The Bonnet of Dolley Madison: Matt should have avoided the Ledges.
The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl: I await your thoughts.
The Comet-Embroidered Battle Flag of William the Conqueror: I await your thoughts.
The War Fan of the Forty-Seven Ronin: The Pit-Tomb door should not have crashed shut.
The Royal Torque of Queen Boadicea: I await your thoughts.
The Enormous Feather of the Mê Linh: David should have simply busted through the Stone Wall from the Dark Forest.
The Broken Trident of Poseidon: Kimberly should have held on to the trident and taken a better escape route.
The Good Luck Watch of Empress Eugenie: I await your thoughts.

The only way I could see this run being successful is David avoiding the temple spirit in the Dark Forest similar to Joel in the Enormous Iron Nose Ring run. This team was doom from the start thanks to Karisa.

So the Enormous Feather temple run would have been a win if David had simply busted through the Stone Wall and entered the Shrine of the Silver Monkey from the Quicksand Bog. Would that have really worked? David was clearly the opposite of Karisa in terms of performance, right? Two pairs on the other reptilian team were obviously doomed to fail with no answer to what they could have done better in the temple (in the Golden Cricket Cage and Snow Cone episodes, both of which, had two of the original show’s weakest temple runs).
