Best Legends Win - Day Twelve: "Atocha" vs. "Sir Gawain"
« on: September 01, 2012, 12:44:24 AM »
Welcome to the Legends of the Hidden Temple "Best Legends win" tournament. In this tournament, we are trying to figure out the best win in the history of Legends. Every day I will hold a series of different matchups that will feature two wins on the show. Your job is to pick what episode you believe is the better of the two. After 24 hours. the episode with the most vote will proceed onto the next round.

"The Jewel-Encrusted Egg of Catherine the Great" beat "Galileo's Cannonball" 5-1 in the previous matchup. That means "Catherine the Great" moves onto the next round.

RULES:
- Each matchup will be open for a total of 24 hours. Once that window of time is up, the winner of the poll will be revealed.
- You are allowed to change your vote anytime during the 24 hour window. But the last vote before time is up is the one that will be final.
- All you have to simply do is select which of the two wins that you feel deserves to progress longer.
- You don't have to reveal your vote to the public, that is only optional. Your vote will be confidential until the 24 hour time frame is up.
- Please vote in the poll! The more people that vote, the more fun this tournament will be. All it takes is less than 30 seconds to vote.
- Have fun

***FEATURED MATCHUP***

"THE LUCKY MEDALLION OF ATOCHA"

VS.

"THE MUCH-HERALDED HELMET OF SIR GAWAIN"

Interesting matchup, as it features both Orange Iguana solo wins. While I like both temple wins, I always thought that "The Lucky Medallion of Atocha" was the better win. Ty was one of the best male contestants on the show and rightfully earned his win. While he did drop his pendant at the beginning of the run, he was able to recover from it AND didn't take the direct path once. And in a way, the pendant dropping added to the memorableness of this run. It was an exciting win from beginning to end.

As for "Sir Gawain"... I do enjoy the win but it just does not have the same charm as "Atocha" does. Tiffani was a solid contestant, but her slow pace kind of kills the run. Plus, the temple guard dodging was a little too lucky IMO. I know she used her shortcuts and everything... but really not a single temple guard? The "Sojourner Truth" team had the exact same path, yet they met all three guards. Oh yeah, you can blame Nick GaS for me not liking this run as much either.

Heh, interesting matchup. I'm gonna say "Atocha" as well, for the same reasons. I find "Sir Gawain" a tad overrated, plus Nick Gas way overplayed this episode. I know Nick Gas did the same with "Atocha" as well, but I thought they were worse with Sir Gawain.

They overplayed "Atocha" too? I don't even remember. But it was ridiculous how overplayed "Sir Gawain" was though. I mean it was literally on like every 3-4 days. I was tired of seeing that run and "Iron Nose Ring" back-to-back all the time.

Poseidon aired with Sir Gawain, not Iron Nose Ring.

Whereas Atocha's "partner" was none other than Apanuugpak.

Looks like I'm the first person to vote the other way on this one.  Tiffani and Ty both stand out as very solid players, but I do want to give Tiffani a bit extra credit for having to go through a lot of Season 3's harder and more time-consuming rooms, getting one of the heaviest artifacts on the show and still making it out with it with more than a couple seconds on the clock.  I'm not saying that Ty wasn't a good player as well, but I feel like Tiffani's solo run required a lot of effort and strength and for me, she really stands out as a strong runner for overcoming those obstacles.

I agree, I can easily forgive Tiffani for her slow speed out of the temple since she had to carry one of the largest artifacts ever on the show out. That Helmet was so big that she kept stumbling in every room. No wonder she was about to fall apart at the end of the run. And not to mention, she also made it back to the platform with the rope. I would've liked this win a little more though if she moved a little faster. I know speed is not everything, but a slow runner kind of makes the run hard to watch. I am not talking about when it came to carrying the artifact out, I am talking about all the time before she reached the artifact. And "Atocha" was slightly more exciting IMO and memorable at that. Stupid Nick GaS ruining certain episodes.

I went with Atocha. Ty was more amazing than Tiffani. He moved fast and he didn't fall for the direct path trick. That's not to say Tiffani was bad. I thought she did a great job too. However, I don't think her performance matches up to Ty's performance.
