The Dark Forest / \m/ The Heavy Metal Thread \m/
« on: March 17, 2012, 08:26:54 AM »
Restarted...

Anyway, to begin, I'd like to be a little hypocritical. :P I know I said I'm not really a fan of downtuning or dropped tunings, but I'm really loving having my electric tuned a full step down. However, it's mainly because I can play so many songs in this tuning: most of Sentenced's catalog, "Crack In A Stone" by Amorphis, "Sad But True" by Metallica... and the list goes on.

I may be working on and recording a Gothic metal demo or EP soon if I'm in luck - really all I need is someone to play the bass and any solos that I may wish to add; because I'm going to be taking care of the guitars, vocals, and drums by myself. The main reason I want to do this project is because I've written some songs lately that really don't fit thrash music - for the most part that's because of the lyrics; but I also had this vision of a very technical (but just four-minute long) Gothic metal song, as weird or paradoxical as that may sound.

The Temple Games / The Never-Ending Song
« on: July 03, 2011, 11:37:41 AM »
New forum game my mind conceived out of boredom. :P

Post one lyric from any song, as long as it shows continuity from the lyric posted above it (but it doesn't necessarily have to make sense; it just has to be grammatically correct). We'll see if there are any ironic, shockingly appropriate, or just plain hilarious results.

Some examples:

Poster #1: This morning I made the call... ("Tornado Of Souls")
Poster #2: To open up your eyes and turn the page... ("Locomotive")

Poster #1: Made my ball bearings melt from the heat... ("Mechanix")
Poster #2: With our heavy metal... ("Metal Militia")

Let's begin!

Lashing out the action...

The Moat / Slow Loading/Missing Images
« on: March 04, 2011, 10:05:49 PM »
Why has the forum become so slow? It takes twice as long as usual to load a page in this forum, and when it finally does load, 99.9% of the images don't load with the page, and I have to wait at least a couple of minutes before they show up (and not all the images show up, mind you). Images hosted on outside sites aren't affected; just the images hosted on this one.

Example:

I know it's not my computer this time because all other sites are loading fine for me. It's just a problem with this one.

The Dark Forest / ALF's Covers Thread
« on: February 18, 2011, 11:26:31 PM »
Don't expect me to do these things every week or something like that, I only do these when I want to and when I feel like doing it. :P

"Peace Sells" - Megadeth

Any people aspiring to be rock vocalists, give me feedback (i.e. just TAW  J/K)

The Jesters' Court / Match the Dislike Message!

N3W FORUM GAM3 TIM31111111!!111111!!111!1one11 :P

I'm sure by now everyone's seen a stupid message attacking all who've hit "dislike" on a certain YouTube video. An example might be, using a comment on Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven"...

Quote
444 people are buying the stairway to hell

So the object of this game is to post a song and then have the next poster make up the worst, the cheesiest, or just the most idiotic "dislike attack message" as possible. And because the number of dislikes doesn't even matter here, just use this response format:

Poster A: "Coma" - Guns N' Roses
Poster B: X people are in a coma.

Get the rules? Good. Let's go!

Easy one (or prove me wrong with a more creative response ;) ):

"Rust In Peace... Polaris" - Megadeth

The Moat / Very, very, VERY slow forum
« on: October 02, 2010, 01:39:44 AM »
Scratch my last topic about the forum's slowness. It took about 15 minutes (and yes, I counted) to load the index page this morning and it was impossible to log in or visit a topic. I visited other forums on Forumer server 6 but they all seemed to be up and running. This isn't the first time this has happened, but this is the longest continuous time something like this has occurred.

Anyone want to file a complaint? This is completely unacceptable (it's not even downtime, people! It's just extreme slowness!) in my opinion, and if this is going to be a daily affair, we need to get our asses out of here pronto.

The Pit / ANOTHER Legends Promo!
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:49:50 PM »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGC6BSBolho&feature=related (Starts at 0:10)

I clearly remember this promo as the first Legends commercial I ever saw because of how weird everything looked upon seeing the wet shaft temple games, the old temple gates, and the Bamboo Forest (keep in mind I never watched Season 1 until episodes of it were on the internet). Enjoy!

The Moat / Extreme Slowness
« on: March 03, 2010, 03:48:30 AM »
Is it just me or does it take about 20 seconds for a post to appear after I click the "submit" button, be it quick reply or full reply for everybody? I don't remember the forum ever being this slow on my internet connection... which is usually decently fast.

The Heart Room / Double Dare Obstacles on Legends
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:11:45 PM »
I currently know of two:

The One-Ton Human Hamster Wheel --> The Pit of Despair
Suspension Bridge --> The Troubled Bridge

Were there any others?

The Dark Forest / MU Crisis
« on: February 01, 2010, 12:12:23 AM »
All right, Singapore's internet providers are seriously flawed. The first, M1, uses USBs to get internet, and with three computers, my family's gonna be paying for three subscriptions - not worth it. The second is Starhub. You buy your modem, and then they connect it to the one internet cable in each building. That's right - one cable per building, and it gets really sluggish if everyone in the building is using Starhub. The third is SingNet. Everyone gets their own modem, and the internet's fast... but!... your IP address is the same IP as over 40 other people in the country. I'm currently using the third.

Anyway, I've heard that the Megaupload toolbar helps free users bypass the "one file at a time" rule. I'm constantly being annoyed by other people using the site at the same time I am, because of this IP shit, but I've also heard that the toolbar has spyware - even though my sources were written three years ago. So, has anyone experienced spyware with the toolbar - ever?

Soundstage 18 / Figure it Out Season Two Episodes
« on: October 16, 2009, 01:22:01 AM »
I have a few that I can encode and upload. :D These are rare, because they were not shown a lot over in the U.S., if I'm not wrong. The only downside is that there aren't any prizes, but I don't think that should bother ya that much, should it?

Links coming soon!

The Heart Room / Avoiding Temple Spirits
« on: September 21, 2009, 11:13:45 PM »
Is it at all possible to avoid a temple spirit? I always thought it was because they only caught you when you put your hand in, but looking at "The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy", Paula had already broken half of the wall down... and she's caught by a temple spirit. This leads me to believe that temple spirits weren't avoidable, except possibly Joel running past the tree which looked like it was inhabited.

Or maybe they got a little more laxed and just let the players run through without getting caught unless they put their hand in?

Another thing: Paula got caught regardless of whether she tried the trees, but Kendra got caught after she tried the tree - the same tree that held the temple spirit for The Silver Horseshoe episode. This goes against RJF's excellent theory, but doesn't this mean that an order of temple runs contrasting with an order of Moat crossings make this theory chronologically incorrect?

Discuss. :P

The Heart Room / Possible Site Correction...?
« on: September 19, 2009, 10:55:10 PM »
I'm not saying that every site owner should change this information, but just insinuating. :P

Anyway, most sites explain "The Throne Room" from Season 2 a little like this...

Quote
In this updated version of the Season 1 room, the throne is attached to a reversible wall. Players sit upon the Throne of the Pretender while pressing two armrest actuators, causing the throne to swing around the wall. This allows access to any opened doors.

Quote
A player entering this room would have to sit upon the Throne of the Pretender and hit two actuators mounted near the armrests to swing round a wall allowing acess to the Swamp and the center of the temple.

... embarrassingly, those are the only two descriptions of the S2 Throne Room I could find. Technically, though, as proved in "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor", the only thing a contestant really needed to do was to hit the actuators on the armrests. If they wanted, contestants could just press the two actuators and go up. No sitting on the Throne was actually required, although it just had to be done so that contestants could go to the Swamp.

Sorry for a semi-pointless thread. ^^ Something I just suddenly noticed.
