Title: The Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor
Post by: The Silver Monkey on October 21, 2006, 05:12:19 PM
Announcer: Up Next, that giant talking stone head. Legends of the Hidden Temple.

*The camera fights through an amazonian type jungle, eventually escaping, revealing Olmec*

Olmec: Legends of the Hidden Temple!

*A pendant of life comes up on the screen. The words "Legends of the Hidden Temple" surround it*

Olmec: With your guide, Kirk Fogg!

*Kirk emerges from the packing peanut thingys in the bottom of the Swamp and runs up the steps of knowledge*

Kirk: Thank you. Thank you. And thank you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with mysterious treasures that are guarded by mysterious mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each and every object in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

Olmec: The Legend of The Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor.

Kirk: Ooh, The The Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor. One of our six teams will have a chance to retrieve the flag. Will it be the Red Jaguars? Or the Blue Barracudas? Maybe the Green Monkeys? But it could be the Orange Iguanas? Or even the Purple Parrots? And Possibly the Silver Snakes! But first, they will have to cross the moat, and Olmec will tell us how they'll have to do it today.

Olmec: Before you hangs a rope with a web in the middle of the moat. When Kirk gives the signal, swing across to the web, climb over it, swim to the edge and climb out. That will be your partner's turn to cross. When the second player is out of the moat, run over and hit the gong!

*Kirk hits the Silver Snakes' gong for clarification*

Olmec: The first four teams to hit their gongs will go on to the next round!

Kirk: Teams, are you ready?

Teams: Yeah!!

Kirk: Olmec, are you ready?

Olmec: This rock is ready to roll!

Kirk: OK then, on your marks, get set, go!!

Kirk: Wow, that was quite the crazy moat crossing! But you two didn't have any problems whatsoever, so going on to the steps of knowledge are the Silver Snakes! And the Purple Parrots! And the Blue Barracudas! And the Red Jaguars! Green Monkeys and Orange Iguanas gave it their all, too. We have a great ift for them, here's what it is!

*They receive a $50 gift card to Toys R Us*

Kirk: As the quest continues, It's now time for Olmec to tell us about the tattered flag of Pearl Harbor, but pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to the temple.

Olmec: One of the most tragic days in american history was when Pearl Harbor was bombed. It was December 7, 1941. Japanese kamikaze forces flew in to Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii, to try to get us away from their German and Italian allies. It worked, as World War II suddenly shifted to the pacific. When it was all said and done, President Franklin Roosevelt called it "A day that will live in infamy". During a cleanup of the wreckage, a tattered american flag was found and it later made it's way to the temple. Your quest is to find the tattered flag of Pearl Harbor and bring it back here.

Kirk: Thank you, Olmec. Tell us, where is the flag?

Olmec: The tattered flag of Pearl Harbor can be found in the Room of Fallen Columns.

*The camera pans up to the room, where we see the flag hanging in the back a la the Comet Embroidered Battleflag of William the Conqueror*

Kirk: Teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. Olmec will ask you a question, and if you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. Go ahead, stomp on it.

*stomp sound plays*

Kirk: Purple Parrots, you were first, and if you answered correctly, you'd move down to the next step. *walks down steps* The first two teams to reach the bottom step will be one step closer to Olmec's Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

Kirk: It was tight all the way, but these two teams will be going on to the temple games! They are the Purple Parrots and the Blue Barracudas! Silver Snakes and Red Jaguars did a good job too. You won't be leaving empty handed, here's what we have for you.

*they get Monopoly: Nintendo Edition*

Kirk: These two teams will be going head to head in the temple games, right after this!

*fade to commercial*

Kirk: Welcome back to Legends. Now the Glory goes to the fastest and the strongest, so lets hear it for Marcus and Melissa of the Blue Barracudas! And Duane and Danica of the Purple Parrots.

*The teams go to get set up for their games*

Kirk: In the temple games, teams compete for those famous Pendants of Life! They'll need 'em to protect themselves from the Dreaded Temple Guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three games, so Olmec, can you tell us about Temple Game number 1?

Game #1 (http://

Kirk: Wow! Duane just blazed through that maze and it gives the Purple Parrots a Half Pendant of Life! So now the Purple Parrots have a half pendant, and the Blue Barracudas haven't scored yet, but there's still hope. Olmec, tell us about temple game #2.

Game #2 (http://

Kirk: It was neck and neck all the way, and each team retrieved 6 items, so they each get a half pendant of life! Now, on to the third and final game, Olmec, tell us about it.

Game #3 (http://

Kirk: That was a close match, but the Blue Barracudas knocked over all four of theirs first, so with 1 and a half pendants, they're going to the temple! Purple parrots did a great job too, they're not going away empty-handed, we have a great gift or them, and here's what it is.

*they get copies of Pok?mon Diamond and Pearl*

Kirk: We'll see if the Blue Barracudas can make their way through Olmec's temple and retrieve the Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor, right ater this!

Kirk: Welcome Back to Legends! The Blue Barracudas have proven themselves worthy and have earned the right to enter Olmec's temple. But first, Olmec will give them some information to help them retrieve the Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor.

Olmec: You could start by running up the stairs to the Bell Tower! Ring the correct bell, and go across the Troubled Bridge! Next, run up the stairs to the Observatory! Spin the Celestial Lights, and you could choose to go down to the Room of Fallen Columns, where you can grab the flag. Next, you could choose to enter the King's Storeroom! Smash the Clay Pots to find the key that will lead you into the Shriiiine of the Silver Monkey! Assemble the statue and pass into the Room of Three Torches! Place the torch in the correct holder to open the door to the Pharoah's Secret Passage! Slide down the Tunnel to the Quicksand Bog, where you could smash through to the Dark Forest, but beware the temple guards that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and you'll enter the Spider's Lair! If you escape, you may have a chance to enter the Tomb of the Headless Kings! Pull the vines to release their bones, than place the missing skull on it's proper king! Next, if the stone slab is up, you can pass through the Wheel Room and through the Cave of Size to return through the temple gates. The choices are yours and yours alone! You won one and a half pendants in the temple games. Who's going first?

Duane: I am!

Olmec: Very well, Duane! When Kirk gives the signal, you'll race through the gates, and into the temple to make your way towards the Tattered Flag. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect 3 specific rooms. If you enter one of those rooms, a temple guard will jump out and capture you. You can give up your pendant to go on, BUT, if
you're caught without a pendant, you will be taken out of the temple, and it will be Danica's turn to enter and try her luck. Hidden somewhere in the temple is the other half of your pendant, and if you find it and you're carrying the other half, you'll get an extra life! Return through the gates with the Tattered Flag of Pearl Harbor in 3 minutes, and you both will be handsomely rewarded! And here's how!

Getting into the temple: $250 Best Buy Gift Card
Getting the Flag before time expires: Video iPod
Getting the Flag out of the temple before time expires: Trip to Disneyland Paris

Kirk: Paris! Sounds magnifique! Olmec, lower the gate!

Olmec: Hmmmmm....

Kirk: Ok, Duane, On your mark, get set, go!

Time Remaining: 1:13

Summary: So many runs can serve as examples for why finding the hidden half-pendant is so important. This one is no exception. Duane's plan was to go up into the Room of Fallen Columns from the Tomb of the Headless Kings. But that plan went kaput when the door to the Tomb from the Wheel Room didn't open. He retreated to the Bell Tower, where he met his first temple guard. He was taken out in the King's Storeroom not soon after. Danica went directly to the Bell Tower, but that was the only smart move she would make. After completing the objective in the King's
Storeroom, she went down into the Spider's Lair and beelined for the door to the Tomb. The run ended not soon after. If only she found the half-pendant on the Spider's Lair-Dark Forest actuator...
