I wanted to make an elimination thread for this idea for a while now. I held back for a while though just to give a break from the elimination threads. But now since the summer time is around and people have more free time, I felt that I would give this topic a try.

Anyways, we have had plenty of discussions in the past about the best and worst looking artifacts on the show. I figured we could use this elimination thread to find the best artifacts that were featured throughout Legends. When basing your votes though, we are not talking about a temple or player performance when voting for an artifact. We are voting on the design of the artifact and how it relates to its Legend to a certain extent.

Some of the artifact designs might be fuzzy to you. Below is Ed/Nicklegend's episode list that contains an image of every artifact on the show. Just click on an episode title to see how an artifact looks like.

Rules:
- You can eliminate an artifact from the list every three hours. You also DO NOT have to wait for another person to vote between that three hour period. So essentially, you can have two consecutive votes as long as they are three hours apart.
- It takes one vote only to remove an artifact from the list, not three strikes like the other recent threads.
- Once an artifact is voted for, it will be removed from the list and won't be put back up.
- We will rank the final 25 remaining artifacts.
- I will update the list every page to avoid massive scrolling and it is more efficient to do so anyways.
- Have fun!

The first artifact to go is the Lost Lariat. This artifact was literally a piece of rope with no thought put into it at all. Most uninspiring artifact on the show? I think so. It was like the producers found some rope and decided to tell a story about it.  :roll:

The Snow Cone of Mount Kilimanjaro was awkward. I mean, if it were made of snow, wouldn't it have melted and evaporated by the time it was brought to the temple?!

Heh, that was going to be next elimination.  :P I agree, a Snow Cone making it's way to the temple while still in perfect condition wouldn't make sense to anyone. Plus, what do the producers think a Snow Cone actually looks like? The artifact itself looks like a cup of beer! So much stuff wrong with this one.

I am going to get rid of the Paintbrush of Leonardo Da Vinci. A famous artist like Da Vinci should have something better attached to their name like they did with the Priceless Portrait and Missing Portrait. But a Paintbrush? How uninspiring. :roll:

The Treasure Map of Jean Lafitte goes next for me. I mean, this was literally a recycled artifact re used from John Sutter and the Map to the Lost Gold Mine. Talk about uncreative, so it goes now.

I don't think we ever see a close-up shot of the Secret Battle Plan. All it was anyways is a wrapped up document. Not very creative at all. I expected something better considering it was a Battle Plan that belonged to the enemies. It goes now.

I can't believe the Shriveled Hand of Efoua hasn't been taken off the list yet. If you thought the Melted Head was creepy, this was some broken off hand for crying out loud. Who would want to retrieve an artifact like that? :shock:

The Silver Cannonball of Grandy Nanny, like Galileo's Cannonball, was just a ball. Although it was a different color, it wasn't a very creative artifact.

Wild Bill Hickok and the Dead Man's Hand was lame too. It was just a pair of playing cards glued together. It's uncreative, so it can go now.

The Trojan Horseshoe was lame as well. If the Greeks attacked with a wooden horse, why would it leave a horseshoe sitting around? Plus, the artifact was kind of bland anyways.

The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart is not so lucky now. This was basically just a ceramic piggy bank. How creative! I'm surprised it didn't fall off the ladder it was sitting on. :roll:

The Dried Ear of Corn was such a lame artifact too. Why would you associate Sojourner Truth with that? Plus, it should be more than just "dried" if it has sat in the temple for that long. :shock:

King Tut's Cobra Staff was used during many moat crossings and (if I remember correctly) a few temple games. There is no way I would consider a reused prop one of the "best" artifacts.

I meant that there were moat crossings where teams used a cobra staff to cross. And I can't remember specifically, but I believe there was a temple game where a cobra staff was incorporated into the game.

Not to mention, why does the Stolen Arm look so musculature when it belonged to a statue?  :o

The Jeweled Necklace was pretty lame looking, especially when you compare it other artifacts like the Jeweled Scabbard, Jewel-Encrusted Egg, and Pearl Necklace. It looks like some producer's daughter made this artifact. :roll:

Actually, nobody eliminated Silk Ladder ( :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:  :roll: ) yet. So it is still fair game for elimination. ;)

And while I do want to get rid of the beloved Silk Ladder, there is no way that the Sacred Ring will last for any longer. The size of the artifact was grossly over exaggerated even though the design was pretty neat. I don't expect it to be as small as a regular ring, but it looks like it's suppose to be a bracelet.

Time for the Secret Map to go. While it had a better design than some of the other Map artifacts, it wasn't that impressive compared to what's left. Plus, the black ink on it is unrecognizable and makes it look like one of those ink blots.

The next artifact to go is the Iron Mask, finishing at spot #13. It was definitely a neat artifact and one of those ones you want to hear the legend about. But the way they positioned the mask made it way too dark to see the whole thing. Plus, it's not as detailed as the remaining artifacts...

This is tough because all of these artifacts are great.  :o I think the Bullet-Riddled Handbag should start the top 10 list off. I like the design of the artifact and the details they put into it.   :mrgreen:  The name of the artifact is pretty cool also. But for some reason the design of the Handbag is a little unusual. It looks like one of those pouches that is suppose to carry medicine or powder. I think this is a good stoppoing point for it.

The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak was an interesting title and a cool artifact. However, the fabric that the mussels were adhered to was a little awkward, and the mussels were not attached to it well. A few fell off when Gator crossed the Pit of the Pendulum. It will take position 9.

This is a tough call, but I vote for The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl for position #5.  It was well-made and really did look like a work of halfway-decent art, but the fact that the girl in the painting had no top on kind of drives the creepiness factor through the roof, and detracts from the artifact's design.

I'm sure Season 4 would have some extremely detailed, very real looking artifacts. We'd probably see more jeweled/golden looking artifacts, much like what we saw on the last day of Season 3.

And the results are in! It looks like our winner is the Good-Luck Watch!

I voted for the Good-Luck Watch as the best artifact on the show. Out of all the artifacts on the show, this is the one that looked the best IMO. The details of the Watch are beautifully designed. The producers did a really good job handling it. When I first heard about this episode, I thought the design would be lame. Plus, I have to give credit for the producers for using an actual clock for the Watch. I thought that the clock would be painted on, but I am glad that I was wrong. And I liked the heart-shaped design too.

The Jeweled Scabbard looked great also. I love the little bits of jewelry on it as well as the design of the Scabbard. Compared to the Watch though, it didn't have the best details.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who took their time to vote. I know the elimination threads aren't very popular anymore, but I thought if I did something totally different for once then it would get more feedback. And I am glad that many different people voted too instead of the same 3 people. This one was fun and the outcome was something different.  :mrred:

#6. The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid (Good, I like the details of the boots and are much better than the Moccasins of Geronimo)
#7. The Missing Eye of David (Good, this was very detailed and didn't look lame at all)
#8. The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon (Good, looked like a hat Napoleon would wear)
#9. The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak (Good)
#10. The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd (Good)
#11. The Lion-Headed Bracelet of Chandragupta (A little lower, the Lion head looks a little lame)
#12. The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa (Good, even though this was a reused prop from the Golden Idols/Treasure Room. It still looked pretty neat)
#13: The Mask of the Man in the Iron Mask (A little lower. Interesting artifact, too dark to see)
#14: The Golden Goblet of Attila the Hun  (A little higher, I liked the details of it.)
#15: The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata (Good)
#16: The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein (Good, the frame of the Portrait was ugly and it was not even Holbein in the painting. The Priceless Portrait was much better)
#17: The Smashed Printing Plate of Frederick Douglass (Much lower, it was so boring)
#18: The Upside-Down Compass of Henry Hudson (good)
#19: The Ivory Elephant of Scheherazade (good)
#20: The Broken Wing of Icarus (A little lower, it was just random feathers on a cardboard piece)
#21: The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain (Much higher. I liked the size of the Helmet and the details of it)
#22: The Ruby Earring of Benzibab (Good. Compared to the other artifacts that day, this one looked a little silly)
#23: The Golden Stallion of Ali Baba (Good, a golden horse is a weird choice to make an artifact)
#24: The Metal Beard of the Egyptian Queen (A little higher)
#25: The Dragon Lady and the Blue Pearl (A little higher. It was pretty detailed despite the small size)

I voted for Jeweled Scabbard because it looked beautiful. Although the Good-Luck Watch looked very nice as well. Good winner I guess.

I personally wanted Catherine the Great to win. Now THAT was a beautiful looking artifact. Good Luck Watch was my second choice.
