Rate the Failed Escape Run - Day 6: The Enormous Feather of the Me Linh

So, it's been a while since I've started a poll here. And you guessed it, it's another rehash topic. I figure it's about time I start this particular poll over again. Especially since the first topic was put together rather sloppily. There were A LOT of good failed escapes on the show. And I have a feeling this will make for some interesting discussion here. Furthermore, it's been almost two years since we've last covered this. So I figure everyone's opinions have changed since then. Plus, I would love to get feedback for some of the newer members here that weren't around for the original topic.

So let's dig right in and get restarted, shall we? We will cover all the failed escapes in the same order as last time.

We will start with "The Medal of Sir Edmund Hilary."

I gave this run an 8. I almost gave it a 7, but I thought it deserved an 8 more. Danny and Tara were a solid team, and were VERY dominant all episode. And their path was pretty tough too, especially having to use the Shrine/Well passage instead of go directly into the Torch Room. Tara did exceptionally well in this temple run. By taking a different path from her partner, and even grabbing the pendant medal with 20 seconds left on the clock! Unfortunately, Tara had poor plans for exiting. And apparently Ron took notes on that. So therefore, it was a loss. Plus, Danny's direct path plan ate up a lot of time as well. Either way, great run and great effort by both players. And I just rewrote this episode in the episode review topic too.

EDIT: And this is both the 50th topic in the Chamber, and the 6,666th post in the Chamber too. The Paintbrush is on fire!

I gave it a 7 because 8 just felt too high to me. I'm voting the same way I would if these episodes were not segregated into a unique group. So there won't be any 9s or 10s from me here.

I am glad to see this topic revisited! This is one of the really old rating threads and it really did need a second round.  

And I gave Sir Edmund Hillary a 9. This was one of the most exciting failed escapes on the show and the best of Season 1! Some people think that this temple run is overrated, but I think it deserves all the praise it gets. Tara and Danny were a strong team in the temple and they actually faced a pretty long layout. Even though they made mistakes like Danny taking the direct path and Tara running down the central shaft with the artifact, they were also a very fast team and Tara was smart for being the only S1 player to not run into the dead end entrance room. Too bad Tara took the wrong way out of the temple, although this doesn't bother me as much as Ron because she had little time anyways. Could she have won if she took the Trouble Bridge? It would've been a photo finish like Applewood Amulet. But this temple run was a great effort and one of the most exciting losses on the show.

Yeah, I'm glad to have revived this thread too. I would've done it a little sooner, but then other things came up. But yeah, I think this is a solid loss too, and it's the first ever failed escape nonetheless. I definitely don't think this run is overrated, as this was a very strong team and episode in general. And I'm pretty sure Tara would've won with about 4-5 seconds left on the clock if she didn't scale the central shaft. But I blame Danny more for the loss, since his direct path plan kind of wasted a lot of time. Regardless, this was one of my favorite losses nonetheless.

Yeah, Danny's mistake kind of gets overlooked. He actually lost some extra time because the Troubled Bridge was a dead end. Had he avoided the direct path, he would've been taken out in the Shrine and Tara would've had more time to work with. And despite having much less time than Ron (almost a 30 seconds difference), him and her still finished in the same place in the Wheel Room. So that is why Tara running down the central shaft doesn't bother me as much as Ron. Golden Jaguar and Sir Edmund Hillary are losses from Season 1 I enjoy even though the teams should've won.

Yeah, and Golden Jaguar is coming up soon in this thread too. We just got to get through Icarus come tomorrow. Even though we're already covering it the Green Monkey thread. Oh well.

I gave this run a 4. Like I said in the Green Monkey thread, this could've been an easy win, but Jason blew it. This temple run was absolutely frustrating, even after grabbing the artifact with 50+ seconds left on the clock, he STILL couldn't get out in time. Poor April never got a chance to enter the temple thanks to Jason. I can't believe anyone would ever consider this run exciting.

I know I know, we're already covering this in the Green Monkeys thread. But I wanted this to stay consistent with the old thread, so I figured I'd cover it anyways. And tomorrow is Pecos Bill, another frustrating failed escape from the Green Monkeys.

I gave Icarus a 4 too. I can't stand this run at all and it is one of the worst failed escape runs on the show. Jason was a horrible contestant that was given a generous layout that he completely blew. I have no sympathy for him because all of his mistakes were time consuming and avoidable. This should've been a win with a lot of time left like Enormous Iron Nose Ring, but his own incompetence caused him to come up one second short. Even if he won, I wouldn't have liked it either way. I like Lost Lariat much better than this run, and Chris sucked just as bad as Jason. Too bad the temple run sucked because the rest of the episode was pretty good.

I actually like Lost Lariat though. At least it was interesting and unique for all the mistakes made by everyone even though Chris sucked ass. And nobody goes around and praises it as much as Icarus. Which is why I can't stand Jason's run.

Yeah, it was exciting and it came down to the wire. But Chris and his slowpokeness completely ruins it. It's funny how we're covering Icarus in two different threads. Has that ever happened in here before?
