I bet schools up north are gonna have February or April vacations taken away. It's like every week its another snow storm.

That was like when SARS closed my school in 2003 and I didn't have a summer vacation that year.

I remember hearing about SARS on the news in that time period. I can't imagine not having summer vacation.

I did after typing that... I know, idiotic of me to not search first. But I dunno if I could really use something like that (unless I can somehow build a very small-scale version) in a dorm room, hahah.  Any other suggestions?

You know, I think this is gonna be one of my favorite threads to visit from time to time.

So I might not be minoring in Asian American Studies at all since I just wanna take the Filipino-related classes and maybe try to work with one of the Pilipino community groups just because I'm in school and realizing that you guys don't have a great Ethnic Studies at your colleges.

I'll just declare as an art major with an emphasis in Conceptual Information Arts and maybe a minor in Design and Industry.

Yay me!

You know, honestly, I would be very interested in taking a Asian-American Studies class since probably around half of my background is of Filipino ancestry, but I really need to take classes that could benefit me more in the process of getting a job in the train wreck of today's economy. I really don't have enough figured out for myself to put me in a safe position for at least my first few years out of college.

Well I should tell you that there is a community based organization on campus called PACE (Pilipino American Collegiate Endeavor), which you can check out here if you have a Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13810630710

They basically spread out cultural awareness about our history and trying to preserve it as well. It's a way to get to know other Pilipinos and the community. I won't be declaring a minor mostly because I would have to take one other Asian studies classes like a Chinese, Japanese, or Vietnamese class, but now I feel like getting a little more involved at school now that I'm coming half-way to graduate. I know I may not get a good job if I were to major in Asian American Studies because I would have to get a job in community organizing or in education, which I wouldn't mind.

By the way, I didn't know you had some Pilipino blood in you TBF. Cool.
