Individual Ranking System

PPF's Edit:
Rankings Comparison
Rankings by Member

So, most of you are aware of the ranking system I did over the summer concerning which of the 6 teams was statistically the best.  Well, now I want to do a ranking system for the individual contestants in order to gauge which individuals are the best and worst.

I'm going through and ranking every team that made it to the Temple Games.  The ranking system itself is simple: I rank them 1-10 on each round - Moat, Steps of Knowledge, Individual Temple Game, Team Temple Game, and Temple Run (If applicable).  In general, 1 is absolutely worthless, 5 is average, and 10 is absolutely perfect.

A contestant's overall rating will be the average of all of their scores.  I'll do each episode in sets of 4 or 5 and I'll post the results of each set here for any discussion/dispute.  Here's the first set to get us started.

BLACKBEARD'S TREASURE MAP:

Red Jaguars - Sabrina
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 2
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 2
Overall: 4

Red Jaguars - James
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: N/A
Overall: 6

Silver Snakes - Karissa
Moat: 2
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 4
Team Temple Game: 3
Overall: 3.75

Silver Snakes - Hector
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 4
Team Temple Game: 7
Overall: 6

Notes about this episode: How lame.  What else can I say.  Both teams were average at best.  Nobody did exceedingly well in any round, but both the girls fucked up big time in some rounds.

THE GOLDEN CUP OF BELSHAZZAR:

Red Jaguars - Catherine
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 5
Individual Temple Game: 9
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 7
Overall: 6.6

Red Jaguars - Sean
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 5
Overall: 6.8

Purple Parrots - Leslie
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 4
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 2
Overall: 4.5

Purple Parrots - Keith
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 9
Team Temple Game: 2
Overall: 5.5

Notes about this episode: This was actually a pretty good episode overall.  The Temple Run was disappointing, but when you look at them as a team, Catherine and Sean were pretty good.  The Temple Games were interesting, though.  In the first game, Sean did very well, but Keith was outstanding.  Similarly, in the second game, Leslie did very well, but Catherine was outstanding.  It was a dead heat matchup...until the final game, where Leslie and Keith completely screwed up.

GALILEO'S CANNONBALL:

Silver Snakes - Jennifer
Moat: 8
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Temple Game: 4
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 5
Overall: 6.6

Silver Snakes - Jammin' Jon
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Temple Game: 8
Team Temple Game: 7
Temple Run: 7
Overall: 7.2

Green Monkeys - Beth
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 7
Overall: 6

Green Monkeys - Kevin
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 4
Team Temple Game: 5
Overall: 5.25

Notes about this episode:  Jammin' Jon was the first truly good contestant, averaging over 7 points per round, and Jennifer was not far behind.  Just look at all those 8's up there for the Silver Snakes.  The Green Monkeys, however, were barely above average.

WILD BILL HICKOK AND THE DEAD MAN'S HAND:

Orange Iguanas - Sarah
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 4
Overall: 6.2

Orange Iguanas - Joshua
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 6
Team Temple Game: 5
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 5.8

Green Monkeys - Amber
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 3
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 4
Overall: 5

Green Monkeys - Ian
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 7
Overall: 6.5

Notes about this episode: Neither team was bad, but kind of like Blackbeard's Treasure Map, nobody really excelled at any rounds.  The last temple game was pretty annoying though.  On the Green Monkeys, Ian did very well trying to adjust his body to catch the balls, but Amber just had such a horrible aim that he couldn't really get very many.  On the Orange Iguanas, Sarah was pretty accurate, never throwing them too far off, but Joshua absolutely refused to adjust his body sideways, causing him to miss some easy balls.

So, if you disagree with any of these, or you just want to discuss the results, post away.  I'll try to keep the sets coming pretty often.

Not bad, THK. We never had a topic like this, so I'm glad to see this up.

I can't judge until I watch the episodes again, but the Temple Run rankings seem accurate.

A tactical analysis of each player...yeah, why hasn't it been done by us before?

It'll be interesting to see how the other episodes' players rank...

This looks like a daunting task, but I will be sure to keep up with it.

I am interested in how some of the contestants like Jeremy and Erika rank. I mean sure, they were pathetic in the temple. But they were pretty dominant outside of it.

I agree. Erika and Jeremy's victory was pretty laughable, but they did dominate the pre temple rounds. I can't wait to see their rankings. Great list THK, I can't wait to see the rest.

I like how Sabrina's partner has a higher ranking than she does even though he never enters the temple. That makes sense at least since Sabrina was beyond pathetic.

I can't wait until you post "The Golden Cricket Cage of Khan" rankings. I would love to see the Purple Parrots ranking compared to the Silver Snakes during that episode.

Same with Keys to the Alhambra. I want to see how pathetic Lisa ranks.

I wonder how Kim would fare. How can someone who won her temple game and team game do so badly in the Temple?

Yeah, this is the thing I don't understand about some of these players in the temple.

Both Kim and Jackie won their individual and team temple game, yet were beyond pathetic in the temple. Both are a good example of wasted potential.

Well, both Kim and Jackie's teams won the temple games 2-1. Meaning they tied the third game, when both players won the other 2 games fair and square. And yeah, wasted potential indeed. It's kind of sad to see players who didn't even ENTER the temple, score higher than their not so great partners.

I say any two pendant runs with disappointing results is basically wasted potential. I mean earning two pendants in the temple games means you had the upper edge over the other team. Not to say that some teams didn't fluke in the temple games, but earning two pendants is quite a good feat and basically means the temple guards are irrelevant in the temple to a certain extent.

The Paintbrush of Leonardo Da Vinci
The Oracle Bowl of Delphi
The Silver Cannonball of Grandy Nanny
The Missing Weather Maps of Charles Lindbergh
The Lily-Crested Crown of Clovis the I
The Dried-Apple Half of William Tell

All good examples of wasted potential.

TIME FOR THE SECOND SET UPDATE!

JOHN HENRY'S LOST HAMMER:

Silver Snakes - Kim
Moat: 8
Steps of Knowledge: 5
Individual Temple Game: 9
Team Temple Game: 4
Temple Run: 1
Overall: 5.4

Silver Snakes - Billy
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 4
Overall: 6.2

Orange Iguanas - Julia
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Temple Game: 8
Team Temple Game: 4
Overall: 6.75

Orange Iguanas - Walter
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 6
Overall: 6.5

Notes about this episode:  Now, just take a look at that.  Because of Kim and Billy's horrible performance in the temple, the losing team actually ended up ranking higher than them.  Great job, guys.  The only redeeming quality I see is that the Temple Games were pretty competitive (though the last one was pretty pitiful).

THE GOLDEN CRICKET CAGE OF KHAN:

Silver Snakes - Tia
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 2
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 7
Temple Run: 1
Overall: 4.8

Silver Snakes - John
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 6
Team Temple Game: 4
Temple Run: 3 (And that's being generous )
Overall: 4.8

Purple Parrots - Michelle
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 2
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 5
Overall: 5.25

Purple Parrots - Mike
Moat: 2
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 6
Team Temple Game: 5
Overall: 5

Notes about this episode:  Neither of these teams deserved to win anything.  Both of these teams were incredibly lame.  When the highest ranking person got a 5.25, you know it's a horrible episode.

ELIZABETH I'S GOLDEN SHIP:

Red Jaguars - Gabby
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 6.2

Red Jaguars - Joe
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 6
Individual Temple Game: 6
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 5
Overall: 6.2

Purple Parrots - Andrea
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 5
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 4
Overall: 5

Purple Parrots - Mike
Moat: 5
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 5
Overall:5.5

Notes about this episode: Well, Gabby and Joe weren't an amazing team, but they are definitely the most consistent team so far.  This is another episode where everybody is okay, but nobody sticks out for anything.

JOHN SUTTER AND THE MAP TO THE LOST GOLD MINE:

Blue Barracudas - Jennifer
Moat: 9
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 7

Blue Barracudas - Damian
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 3
Individual Temple Game: 7
Team Temple Game: 6
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 5.6

Silver Snakes - Brooke
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 5
Individual Temple Game: 5
Team Temple Game: 6
Overall: 5.5

Silver Snakes - Perry
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 5
Individual Temple Game: 4
Team Temple Game: 7
Overall: 5.75

Notes about this episode:  Jennifer is on the same tier as Jammin' Jon and is so far the best girl contestant.  Damian, on the other hand, was actually not that good.  He was little above average.  This one was all Jennifer.

Well, Jennifer was the star of the show in John Sutter. Damian only lasted what, 20 seconds in the temple? So Jennifer did most of the work. I agree with the rest of the results, I knew Kim and Billy were gonna rank low.
