How did they know?

How did the contestants know how to complete Medusa's Lair and the Room of the Mandarin Hand if Olmec didn't even tell them how?

Each team of two was toured through the temple and briefed on all of the objectives by crew members before Olmec gave his explanation (more of an explanation to the viewers than the contestants). The same thing happened with the Steps of Knowledge.

Obviously it didn't help very much. The design of Medusa's lair was very complex for such a short amount of time. By comparison, the hand was much easier.

Medusa was cool, but it had to go.

AMEN TO THAT!!! That room was just downright brutal when 4 snakes were required, so the # of snakes was downgraded to 2 OUT OF NECESSITY for overall time management. But, to tell you the truth, the room FREAKED MY OLDER SISTER OUT! Basically the ONLY THINGS that were likable were the PIERCING RED EYES and the COOL SHRIEK SOUND EFFECT!!!

^I think they could have just kept the Heart Room, or changed it to the Sacred Markers earlier.

I'll be the first to admitt having Medusa in the temple was pretty bad ass, but the layout of the room could have been much better.

Come to think of it, I think it would have made more sense (and been easier) if the objective of the room were to remove Medusa's head from her body such as in the Greek Mythology.

Don't guess that would have ever made it past the parent/teacher board.

Actually, didn't Olmec mention what they had to do on the Mandarin Hand or am I wrong on this? It may have happened once.

:?: I dunno on that one, Medusa! I was under the impression that Olmec skipped the middle room until the Chamber of the Sacred Markers was introduced with Season 3. But I may be wrong!!!

If anyone has evidence that would prove me wrong, by all means, PLEASE SPEAK UP NOW!!! Because I'm always up to learning more about the GREATNESS OF LEGENDS!!!

Olmec never stated what had to be done in the Room of the Mandarin Hand.  He always said you could go up from the Laser Light Room to the ROTMH or over to the Jester's Court.

When I was younger, I guessed that the point of the room was to place a ring on one of the fingers.

If they were toured, then I wonder how Kim from John Henry's Lost Hammer still banged on doos if they were briefed on the objectives.

It's a lot of information for anybody to handle, not to mention ten-year-olds.

Either that, or she just didn't pay attention during the tour of the temple.
