The Heart Room / What are some opinions that no one can ever oppose?
« on: September 13, 2014, 12:57:32 AM »
Over the years, we had different opinions and attitudes towards different episodes that have changed. There are some episodes where a lot of people see eye-to-eye. These are episodes where most share the same opinion on. Then there are the episodes that have mixed opinions where some people feel the same way while other people feel differently. And then there are times where people have the most extreme opinion which goes against the general consensus.

What are opinions on the show that you just can't oppose? These are opinions that are basically objective where you have no grounds to argue. I will start off:

- Silk Ladder is one of the worst wins on the show. You will never see this episode higher than the bottom 3 on anyone's list.

The past couple of months I have been reading some old topics on here. One opinion that I found interesting was that some people feel that Bifocal Monocle's layout was unfair for Season 3 standards and that Veronica and Thomas get too much criticism. Veronica and Thomas have a bad reputation around here for having one of the worst performances on the show. But their layout was pretty unusual for Season 3 standards where it featured dead-ends and detours. This was definitely bazaar for Season 3 standard. Do you think that Veronica and Thomas get too much criticism?

In my opinion, Veronica and Thomas deserve their criticism 100%. They were a horrible team that made some of the worst mistakes on the show. I mean Veronica literally spent 1/3 of the temple run trying to climb out of the Pit. -_____- And the Ancient Warriors dead end could've been avoided easily if they didn't think the direct path would be so obvious. And she had no reason to run into the King's Storeroo either. Thomas was equally as clueless for pulling books in the Crypt and running into the same rooms as his partner. I have to admit that their layout was a little confusing and brutal for Season 3 standards. But that doesn't excuse them for their pitiful performance. I might have more sympathy for them if they didn't act like John and Tia in the temple.

What are your thoughts?

I just thought of a neat idea for another poll. We have determined the best episodes different ways by teams, production days, etc. I thought it would be neat to determine the best episode by individual room? Basically, you vote for the best episode you think is associated each room. Each poll will be dedicated to a room that held multiple artifacts. Rooms with only one artifact (Well, Laser Light Room, etc.) will not be part of this poll. ;)

So let's start off with the Observatory (Sundial)!

Previous Results:
Observatory (Sundial) - "The Star of Sultan Saladin" (5 votes)
King's Storeroom (Season 2) - "The Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe" (4 votes)

Continuing the trend of the "Rate the temple temple runs" like Paintbrush's Purple Parrot thread, I wanted to do one for the Red Jaguars. The Red Jaguars are a team that get a lot of negative and criticism for their temple runs. After all, they were voted as the worst team of Season 1 and Season 2. It will be interesting to see how their runs are rated. When rating their runs, try to rate them in comparison to other Red Jaguar runs. So that means avoid comparing them to ther teams. ;)

We will first start off with "The Missing Weather Maps of Charles Lindbergh":

Previous Results:
"The Missing Weather Maps of Charles Lindbergh": 2.40 (5 votes)

Okay, this is a really random topic but we don't have much discussion around here. And I want to use this topic as a "survey" of some sorts. ;)

Almost all of us on here are familiar with all 120 episodes to the point where we don't even use the whole episode name when talking about it. I mean why should we when some of those episodes titles are long. :o Let me ask you this. When you are talking about an episode, do you use the "artifact name" or "namesake" of the episode title when identifying the episode?

Let's just use an example to get a better understanding what I am talking about. We will use "The Snake Bracelet of Cleopatra" since it gets a lot of discussion around here. "Snake Bracelet" (artifact name) and "Cleopatra" (namesake) are the common shorten titles for these episodes.

In the past, I almost always used the namesake to identify episodes. It is easier because most of the artifact names are long and some of them are similar to each other. Now though, I use more artifact names when describing an episode. But when it comes down to it, I use whatever name is shorter too. Although there are times when I exclusively use the artifact name even when it is longer. Like I mainly use "Enormous Iron Nose Ring" over "Babe" because it is easier to identify an episode.

What do you guys typically use? The artifact name or namesake? I know this is a bizarre idea for a topic, but I am curious on what you guys think. It has kind of been an interest to me. ;)

During the "Good-Luck Watch" run, Jay and Janeen had a very favorable layout that really should've been a bottom of the central shaft win. They came close to reaching the artifact, but it was a failed escape because Jay did not have enough time. The primary reason they lost was because of Janeen moving too slow and hesitating way too much. But at one point during the temple run, Jay enters the Jester's Court and align himself with the middle painting with 31 seconds left. For some reason though, the painting does not work and he loses a lot of time trying the other paintings. Finally, Jay tries the middle one again after a spotter and Kirk tells him to give it a second go. It is successful for him, and he even grabs the Watch before time was up. But that is the best he could've done.

My question is do you think Jay might've won if the middle painting was successful the first time? If it worked, he should've grabbed the Good-Luck Watch with 25 seconds left. That should've been enough time to bring the artifact out with a couple of seconds to spare. I mean Kristen grabbed her artifact in the "Polynesian Girl" run with 14 seconds and finished in the Ledges. With a little extra time and his fast speed, do you guys think he could've pulled it off?

I feel that we need a new poll in this forum, so I have a new idea for a thread. This poll won't take long at all, and will last only for 3 days.

So what team was the best of each season? Every team had their fair share of shining and shameful moments. Some teams shined more so than others in certain seasons. Who was the best team in each season then? The best team could be one that made it to the temple a lot, won a lot of temple runs during that season, have very dominant teams, etc. For the next 3 days, we are going to vote for the best team for each season.

Previous Results:

This topic is more of a joke topic and not to be taken seriously. I hope I am posting it in the right forum. ;) So what do you think a Legends fan should know about the show? Maybe it is lingo that we commonly use that they might not be familiar with. Or it could a popular opinion that resonates among the fanbase. I will start off:

- Pulling a "Harriet Tubman" - This means a player should never take a different path from their partner with less than two Pendants.
      : An alternate name for "Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder".
- Triple capture - It means the team ran into all three temple guards.

Feel free to add more.  ;)

Same thing as the other topic! This time, we are finding the most memorable episode. This one should be more interesting to rank. Have fun!

Rules:
1.) You can give a strike to one episode every hour. You must wait 24 hours if no one else votes between your last post though.
2.) Once an episode receives three strikes, it will be removed from the list.
3.) We will rank the 20 remaining episodes.
4.) There is no need to update the list in every single post, I will do it a couple of times on every page.
5.) Have fun! Please take 3 seconds to cast your vote.

During the "Mummified Hand" run, we all remember it for Maggie dropping her Pendant of Life in the Pit of the Pendulum and being removed from the temple by her first guard. Josh (surprisingly) finds her Pendant of Life, but instead of following her path he chooses to go up into the King's Storeroom. This mistake would prove to be costly as he bypassed the half-pendant in the Chamber and was forced to meet his other two guards. Basically, Josh's mistake was like "Harriet Tubman" where he strayed from his partner's path with less than 2 Pendants. He seems to receive a lot of negative criticism for this mistake despite being very fast in the temple.

My question is do you think that Josh gets too much criticism for his mistake? I feel that he gets criticized too much and it is even blown out of proportion. If I put myself in his situation, I can see why he strayed from Maggie's path. With one full pendant in his hand, he probably thought that he would be safe from the last temple guard. And can you blame him for taking the high road? He knew that sticking to Maggie's plan would've resulted him going up the entire central shaft. So he saved a lot of time by avoiding two of the most time consuming rooms of Season 3. And he was wicked fast in the temple too and had one of the fastest Silver Monkey assemblies ever. I believe that he receives too much criticism and that the real problem with this run was that the Pendant drop messed up the Blue Barracudas' strategy. And this layout was so hard anyways.

The Temple Games / Best Legends Episode - Hurt/Heal Game
« on: June 24, 2014, 12:16:35 AM »
This is the one final Hurt/Heal game that I wanted to make. ;) A long time ago, TAW made a "Legends Episode Hurt/Heal" game where we ranked the 20 best Legends episodes on the show. I want to recreate that topic like the other recent ones. Here are the rules:

Rules:
1.) You can Hurt Two Episodes and Heal Two Episodes every hour! You must split your vote though and can't pool them together to hurt or heal the same episode.
2.) Since this is a big list, you don't have to update it in every post. I will try to be more careful and update 2-3 times a page.
3.) Once an episode reaches 0 points, it is out of the game. As the game progresses, the points deducted and added will change.
4.) We will rank the final 20 episodes.
5.) Have fun!

4.) There is no need to update the list in every single post, I will do it a couple of times on every page.
5.) Have fun! Please take 3 seconds to cast your vote.

Welcome to Rate the Artifact! I made a topic like this a while ago, but it never panned out and I accidentally deleted it before bringing it back to life. I want to try the same thing again now that some people have showed some interest. And since a couple of my topics are almost finished, I felt that it is a perfect time to host it again.  ;)

Just like all the rating threads, we will rate each artifact on a scale of 1-10. You can rate them for whatever reason you like - artifact design, name, how it ties to the legend, color, etc. The polls will be open for 24 hours. So please take the time to vote in each poll. ;)
