Fixing TKS
« on: June 24, 2010, 05:41:53 PM »
Hey everybody,

When I originally compiled TKS' Legends episode list and commented on each episode, it was the first time anything like it had been attempted. There were scrapings of facts available online, but rarely recaps of episodes. The mission my Der-Kommissar-monikered assistant and I shared was to report what we saw as we saw it, just to get it down--just to document what hadn't been reviewed before. But with that mission came a cost. Some of the comments we would write on our episode list in inspired haste weren't perfectly accurate--a truth that this forum has helped me realize over the years.

Because, despite declining site viewership, TKS is still one of the primary sources for Legends information, I would like to set things straight once and for all. This is your chance to debate any fact that is presented on the site. Anything. Maybe a statement in the episode list is wrong; maybe something in a quiz needs tweaking--you name it. I can't promise I will make every single change that is requested, and I can't promise the fixes will appear immediately, but I will be patching up the site where it needs it at some point down the road, and I need your help.

So please do help out if you have anything to share. Also, please correct any of my site assistants' comments if those, too, happen to be inaccurate. Just post in this thread. Thank you!

I don't want to say too much that's opinion-based, but I have a few tidbits from the show:

- One of the biggest things I want to mention had to do with the "Kilimanjaro" episode.  Someone, somewhere along the line, mentioned that Heather had opened the Forest-Shrine door with her bare hands rather than the key, and I've seen this for myself in the episode; this was why the other side of the passageway was still closed.

- Ron's cheating tactics at the Moat probably deserve a little mention as well.

- I'm fairly surprised you never mentioned the strange edits in both "Shaka Zulu" and "Freyd?s."

Otherwise, I can't come up with too much that really needs to be said.  The two postponed episodes (and the case with "Blackbeard's Treasure Map") could probably use some explanations if and when the reasons are confirmed, though, but that's pretty much it.
If you have seen all 120 full episodes of Legends, copy and paste this into your profile for all to see.

I also found the WPTS interview on iTunes so you should probably link that.

There's a Youtube version of the WCDB version of his interview if you would like to link that:

If there is any parts of any episode that do not have a summary, that should be fixed. I would estimate that less than 10% of all parts (which include Moat, SOK, and Temple Games) do not have a summary, but that can be fixed with someone with good memory, the episodes on DVD, or a copy of the links that were banned.

The big one for me has always been that the guide says that the kids in THe Missing Portrait of Hans Holbien didn't take the SHrine Swamp or Shrine Forest route. IF you watch the temple run neither door opened, and the kids were forced into the room of the secret password.

Tony from the snakeskin boots put the key back in the tree in the dark forest.

War fan of the ronin 47, the pit-chamber door did not open.

Xerxes, Pat opened the Forest-shrine door with his hand. He did not find the key in the tree.

Spider Web, Jeremy didn't cheat he just made an honest mistake.

Clovis I, there were never 4 markers in the chamber of the sacred markers. There was always 3 markers. The Chamber pit door did not open after katie solved the chamber.

Aurungzeb, the three temple guards were not unavoidable. If the guy had gone down into the tomb of the headless kings he would have avoided the shrine guard

Pythias, it took damien 1:08 to make it to the shrine, not 0:30.

Empress Eugene, Watch the Green monkeys in the moat. Niether monkey is on the other side then as if by magic Both are instantly on the other side.

I know, Typos galore in my post But it's hard to type on this forum.

Well, we have no way of knowing if that would've led to the Quicksand Bog.  What if it was just a one-room dead-end?

But it could have opened, It doesn't matter weather it was dead end or not (Which it most likely wasn't). Avoiding all three temple quards was not impossible like the article says.

I think it would help if there would be a symbol on the map to where the locations to the other halves of the pendants are and whether the contestant took it or left it there hanging.

I decided to look through each episode summary for the "rooms entered" stat, and noticed a few mistakes:

- "The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa" (should be 9, not :P

Speaking of The Trojan Horseshoe, the half pendant was in the Pit of Despair.

Also, I'm fairly certain the name of the girl Blue Barracuda in the Codebook of Mata Hari should be Gigi, not GG. And the half-pendant location is listed as The Rock Quarry (which wasn't even in season 1) rather than the Shrine.

If you have seen all 120 episodes of Legends, copy and paste this into your signature for all to see.

No, but it's been implyed for like 6 years. You could atleast mention the fact that dean could have gone down. The Summary's only two sentances long anyway. It could use a little more summary.
