The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale - THEORY!
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:40:04 PM »
Who doesn't know that the Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale featured a temple run in a different layout than the rest of the episode was filmed in; it switched from S2L1 to S2L5, as most know. Whoever came up or believes the theory that Cristina is the puker...sorry, but I think you're COMPLETELY WRONG. This is my personal theory on the episode (notice the word theory, don't bash me please)...

? Think Belshazzar. They probably had no time to finish, and was probably the 18-hour episode as mentioned in the interview?meaning that S1L1 was probably filmed over a period of two days.
? Remember that not all temple runs were filmed in order. An episode could?ve been first to be filmed for the Moat, Steps, and Temple Games, but its temple run is filmed last.
? The episode was filmed on the first production day of Season 2. Even with a new producer that seemed more organized than the Season 1 producer, the show took a major change from Season 1 to Season 2, and they still had some kinks to work out, probably running out of time.

Put those three points together, and you get the full theory: The producers probably couldn't work out some of the kinks in the first day of the second season, leaving there little time for the temple run of the Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale, which could have been scheduled as the last temple run of the day, and it was postponed as the result.

Any thoughts?

That's what I was thinking (I actually thought the more difficult the producers designed the Temple Games and Temple Run, the later they were filmed).

Like Season 3. The Secret Map temple run summary was in the Bifocal Monocle ep.

Although, in the whole of the Walking Stick production day, there were no black pots, just blue-green. What were the colours of the pots in the temple games of S2 L1? I need to be assure that the Golden Stallion was either 1st or 3rd in its day, since the temple guard in the Throne Room never stepped on the box and opened the doors AFTER the throne spun.

Look at ALF's theory. Temple runs might've been filmed out of episode order.

Here's the thing.

The pots in the Leopard-Skin Cloak were all red but only 2 were smashed. That other pot was in the Golden Goblet ep. And in the Snakeskin Boots ep, the leftmost pot was a light colour, and then in the Golden Pepperoni (Cristina did not break the leftmost pot in the Secret Battle Plan), that pot was a dark green.

Notice how there's light-colored pots in the Season 2 intro. Did those ever come up in the season at all? Or are the producers just people who like to waste clay?

Didn't somebody recently suggest the reason there were two keys in the Silver Cannonball episode was because one of them was intended for the Secret Battle Plan episode? That seems like the best theory to go on right now: They went into the King's Storeroom (and smashed the pots, so there's the pot theory), but couldn't advance due to the lack of a key and didn't have enough time in the day to retry, so the run was put off.

This is probably going to be my only post while i'm here but, A thought just hit me one day about the episode that I don't think was ever suggested. What if Christina went into the temple and instead of getting sick, What if she hurt her foot or leg? She wouldn't have been able to continue but they would had to have filmed a temple run to finish the show. So they waited for her foot to heal then invited her back. A theory, that makes more sense than previous theories.

I read back on the replies, and I have this to say. The only point I'm trying to make here is that "The Secret Battle Plan of Nathan Hale" was not the episode that had a contestant become ill during a temple run in the Pit of Despair. Throwing up is a minor setback, and you can probably clean up and have the contestant rest in like what? Half an hour maybe?

Whereas, the theory that TAW and PPF seem to be putting forth is that Cristina puked, that's it, they end the run, and they come back on the last day of Season 2 production to re-record their run. That's unfair to other teams because they get to completely start over. Let's say that Cristina puked in the Pit on her way OUT with the artifact, but was going to run out of time shortly. If they re-did the run, there's the inevitable possibility of a victory, obviously. I doubt that the crew would have been so lenient to just that one team.

Well, at this point, I'm actually on Team RJF (as per the "Who puked in the Pit of Despair?" thread). :P That is, I think the presence of two keys in the pot in the Grandy Nanny run was because one of the two was intended for the Nathan Hale run.  With no keys in the King's Storeroom the first time the Temple Run was done, the team would've been unable to advance and the goof-up constituted a restart... but if there was no time, assuming the first production day ran late and was really hectic, they might've had to re-record the actual run at a later date when it was possible to squeeze it in.

Hell, at this point, it actually seems a lot more likely that Tarrah was the contestant that puked in the Pit, not Christina, but hey.  I wouldn't doubt that serious time constraints could cause a Temple Run to be postponed that long? why else would it be put off until Layout XIV instead of just Layout XI?
