Re: Rate the Moat Crossing - S1L5 Day "Inflatable Tubes One at a Time"

I kind of felt that it was asking a lot for a young kid to throw those big tubes across the moat. Some teams didn't seem to have trouble, but a lot of them did. Especially the younger looking players. I like how the producers mixed the S1L3 moat with S1L5 moat for the S1L8 moat.  :o

All the S1L5 players were young, some of them were just downright tiny. But yeah, those younger kids really didn't have that king of strength to throw a tube across to their partner. Even most of the S1L8 kids were from a younger crowd as well. And I definitely noticed that S1L3 and S1L5's moats were basically a hybrid for S1L8's moat. :P In fact, wasn't the objective for S1L8's moat changed around?

You are indeed correct! In Cobra Staff and Blue Pearl's moat, the first player had to cross by using the overhead rope and their hands to cross. Once they made it across, then they had to throw the inflatable tube to their partners who had to cross by sitting inside the tube. In Mata Hari though and the episode afterwards, the players had to cross with the inflatable tube first and then their partners had to use the overhead rope to cross. Nice catch, I never noticed that before. :o

Yeah, I remembered both King Tut and Blue Pearl's moat having one player reel their partner in while they sit on a tube. ;) The rest of the moats that day had the tube throwing thing again. I also remember S1L7 changing their moat objective around, after the abomination of Silver Saddle Horn's moat. I remember the teams in Gordian Knot had a completely different objective than the other moats that day. But I don't remember at the top of my head. Maybe it was just like the moat that S1L3 had?

And it's time to end S1L5's poll, which finishes with a 3.4 average.

Up next is S1L6's moat. ;)

I gave S1L6's moat a 3. Why must all these Season 1 moats suck so badly? You just paddle across a raft, like S1L4, and then use a bottom rope to get across, like S1L3's moat. Simple as that. It was basically a hybrid of S1L3's moat and S1L4's moat. Nothing special here.

I hope I am not the only one that is confused by which moat was used on which production day in Season 1. Seriously, all of these moats felt the same and the only ones I remember are S1L1 and S1L9 because they were unique. With that said, I gave S1L6's moat a 3 also. There was just nothing remarkable about this moat at all, and the concept of it was stolen from previous moats like mentioned above.

Yeah, it does get confusing. I had to copy and paste the titles of the moat in the OP from a really old thread here. I believe it was GMW's Endurance topic. If it weren't that for particular list, I wouldn't know which moat was which. I swear, I can't wait until we get into Season 2's moats. At least they changed their objectives around every filming day.

Season 2 will definitely be more interesting. I can definitely remember the moats more clearly in that season. Although it felt like they kind of reused the Babylonian wheels idea a little too much. At least the changed the objective of it a little bit. They never even tried with most of the Season 1 moats.

Isn't S1L7 moat the same as S1L3? That production day had the longest record moat ever too in Silver Saddle Horn.

I believe they are one and the same, yes. Only the players in all the S1L7 moats (sans Gordian Knot) had to rely on upper body strength to get across the moat. Then their partner had to throw a rope to the person already across. The S1L3 moat was a player swimming across the moat with a rope, then tie it to the poll so their partner could cross. But it is the same concept really. And some of these players did not have the upper body strength, at all.

And with a solid 3 average, time to end S1L6's moat.

Up next is S1L7's moat. ;)

Re: Rate the Moat Crossing - S1L7 Day "Hand-over-Hand on Overhead Rope"

I gave S1L7's moat a 2. Having to climb across a moat via the overhead rope, while the other player throws the lower rope to them, is expecting way too much for these kids. Some of these kids just didn't have the upper body strength to climb across the moat hand over hand on the overhead rope. I mean, the kids in the Silver Saddle Horn's moat struggled so badly, they had to change the moat around for Gordian Knot's moat. And even that watered down objective didn't impress me. This might be the worst Season 1 moat ever.

I gave the S1L7 moat a lowly 1. We are seven production days into the show, and the producers are still rehashing the same moats? No wonder no body thinks highly off Season 1 because most of these episodes used the same tired ideas. If they really used more variety in Season 1, then it would've been more likable. The objective itself was awful and some of the teams struggled bad in the moat. Just watch half of the teams in Golden Jaguar or Shaka Zulu. And then we had Silver Saddle Horn's moat which was the longest recorded moat ever! No wonder they changed it in Gordian Knot. Bland idea, awful execution, and the fact they had to dumb down on the objective makes this a really bad moat. This is probably my least favorite moat on the show. :?

Basically everything you said. Worst moat ever. I think I even liked the shaky log moat better than this moat.

And *gasp* guess what gets a lowly 1.4 average? The S1L7 moat, as I finally put an end to such a pitiful moat.

Up next is the S1L8 moat.
