Re: Rate the Moat Crossing - S1L8 Day "Overhead Rope with Inflatable Tubes"

I gave S1L8's moat a 4. The moats here were starting to get a little better, but it's still the same climbing on the "overhead rope" type objective. Like the previous moat, this also had to have the objective changed. In episodes like King Tut and Blue Pearl, the first player had to climb on the overhead rope, throw a tube to their partner, and reel them across the moat. I guess the producers thought it was too easy, so they went back to the S1L5 objective after that. And still kept the climb on the overhead rope objective. I think I got that right. I don't know, I don't like this moat either.

I gave this moat a 3. This moat was like a mixture of the most challenging aspects of the past Season 1 moats. Basically. the rubber tube tossing and using the overhead rope to cross were the two most challenging things with these moat crossings. Luckily, the producers saw how tough throwing the rubber tube was in Cobra Staff and Blue Pearl and changed around the objective. But still, we saw a lot of long moats due to it being too challenging. It wasn't as bad as the previous moat, but they still had to change the moat objective around. Luckily, tomorrow's moat is something totally different. ;)

Oh yeah, for once we'll have a halfway decent moat there. ;) No more of this rope business here.

Time to stop the poll for S1L8's moat, which finishes with a 3.75 average.

Up next is S1L9's moat.

I gave S1L9's moat an 8. Finally a halfway decent moat since S1L2's "Aztec Footboard." For once it provided a challenge, and it wasn't just climbing across the moat via a rope. Not even Ron the cheater ruined this moat for me. Easily the best Season 1 moat ever.

And if you don't agree that this is a great moat, I'll be thoroughly disappointed. ;)

Finally, a moat crossing that was both unique and enjoyable to watch. Oh yeah, no ropes either.  S1L9 brought many good things to the show including interesting rooms, different temple games, and a whole new moat crossing. Too bad the earlier layouts didn't do that. This was actually a moat crossing I could see being used in the later seasons. Unfortunately, I had to deduct a point due to Ron from Anne Bonny cheating and getting away with it. But Ron aside, I enjoy every episode this moat crossing was used. Hell, Lawrence of Arabia featured one of the best moat crossings of Season 1 thanks to this one. I will give it a 7 overall.

Yeah, this may be the highest ranked moat of Season 1. If not, then the "King Tut's Staff" moat will take that title. ;)

And with a 7.00 average, it's time to end S1L9's moat. So it ties with S1L1's moat for highest score. I was close.

Up next is the first day of Season 2, with the criss crossing ropes. ;)

I gave the first ever Season 2 moat a 6. Yes we're using ropes again, but at least it was for a different objective. I personally liked the criss crossing ropes, where you had to be careful with how you crossed. The only reason I don't rank this moat higher is because it's still a rather uninspiring moat idea, even for early Season 2 standards. Thankfully, the moats get MUCH more creative from here.

I gave this moat a 5 because it was not very memorable and reminds me too much of the Season 1 moats. At least the objective for this moat crossing was different, and it didn't involve something challenging by crossing hand-over-hand. But yeah, this moat was pretty uninspiring for Season 2 standards. You can tell the producers were still stuck in Season 1 mode for this production day. A pretty bland idea + nothing memorable about it = average score.

Yeah, early Season 2 was pretty sloppily produced, and still using the "rope" ideas. Plus, some of the players sucked getting across that moat too. Remember how much trouble Paula had crossing that moat? I mean, Matt had to REALLY haul ass just to get the last place spot. Tomorrow's moat is much better. That might even rank high too.

I need to stop triple posting. And S2L1's moat finishes with a 5.8 average.

Up next is Harriet Tubman/Bone Necklace's moat, the building of bridges. ;)

I gave the "Build a Bridge" moat a 7. It was a MUCH better challenge than crossing ropes, and it provided a challenge where you couldn't go too fast, nor too slow. I would've given it a higher score, but I kind of felt like the moat dragged on too much, and it was a little boring to watch. From here on out, the moats do start to get a little better and more creative. So there's that.

I gave this one a 6. It was a unique concept, but it was too slow paced for my liking.

Yeah, that's the problem I had with this moat. Went by too slow, and most of the moats took a while to finish because of it.
