Favorite Temple Game and Moat Crossing
« on: August 05, 2006, 06:55:30 PM »
I know the theme of the games or what the objects in them were representing changed with whatever the legend was but which one was your favorite?

I always liked the ones that involved spinning around in that one or two person harness thing and trying to ride the horse. Oh and the jumping up to the top like in the Broken Trident Of Poseidon game today.

I'd stink at the wall climbs, I have like no upper body stregnth lol but they look fun.

Got a favorite moat crossing? I kinda like the one with the two poles accross the moat the teams had to put the boards on and move accross. I'd probably be unhappy with a lot of the games though, I'd be moaning 'cause I got all wet LOL. The same goes for the temple games with the soapy slideway or whatever that was. Eww lol.

For some reason, I've always loved the moat crossing where the teams had to crawl through the inner tubes. I think because it was so different than anything that had been previously done (not to mention it took forever to do).

My favorite Temple Game is the one I call Four-Soldier Knockdown. That's the one where the team loads the cannonball and has to knock down the four solders (if my name didn't give away which one it was).

Just for the record, my least-favorite moat crossing was the one where the teams had to stand on that moving plank and balance themselves across, and my least favorite Temple Game is the one where the partners are chained together and have to maneuver through the maze.

My favorite moat crossings are the ones where there's a hanging pole across the moat and the kids have to climb upside-down to get across to the other side (like in "The Lucky Pillow of annie Taylor") and the one where they have to swim through the hanging inner tubes (like in "The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kid").

Season 3 had some good moat crossings too. For the most part, season 1's moat crossings were pretty sucky.... and they were all basically the same thing.

I haven't seen as many Season 1 episodes, but the ones I have seen all use the EXACT SAME MOAT CROSSING.  You know, the one with the raft and the rope.  Add it Kirk's awkward descriptions (he can't come close to Dee's magnificent reading of "Do it again!") and you've got some lousy moat crossings.

I  liked the raft one used in "The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen".  Seems like it would require good teamwork to do.  Also the three-rope one in Season 2, just because it provided a twist (no pun intended) on the usual "walk across the rope" objective.

Favorite temple games?  Hmm...I know it requires absolutely no skill, only luck, but I still like the "plug the hole" game in "The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor".  It's funny to see them squirted repeatedly.

My favorite moat crossing was the one where the swung on a rope and climbed over a net.

My favorite Temple Games are any where they use the slingshog and the kickballs and the one where they have to go up the slide to get to something at the top

Fave Moat Crossing: The one where you had to slide across on your belly (Think Slip N Slide)

Fave Games: The one where you had to jump through the holes via trampoline and do something at the top, the one whera player launches balls to his/her partner to stick on a wall, and the one where you knock down the four soldiers with cannonballs.

Moat crossing: I really like the one where you slide across on your stomach, and also the one where you swing from a rope on to a cargo net and climb over the other side, because in a hurry people often did unintentional flips trying to get over the top.

Temple game: the one where you hoist one partner then they pull the other partner up by their bungee, and so on and so on until they've reached the top of the giant steps. I like it cause it wasn't timed and the teams were usually pretty even so it was exciting.

Favorite Moats: The "slippery footpath" one that was used in episodes like The Enormous Feather of the Mi Lingh, the "swing out to the net" Moat and the "build the bridge" one.

Worst Moats IMO: Any of the Moats in Season 1 except the Layout VII one, where the first player had to climb across on the top rope, get passed the other rope and make a lower path with it.

Favorite Temple Games: The "knock down soldiers" game, the "slide the furthest" game (or as I originally called it, "penguin sliding,") and any of those team Temple Games in Season 3 that put alot of emphasis on teamwork.

Worst Temple Games IMO: The luck-based version of the "plug up the holes" game.  The memory-based version in The Golden Stallion of Ali Baba and The Sacred Ring of Sultan Suleiman was okay, thou, but i never really liked luck-based Temple Games.

Favorite Moat:
- The one where you have to shimme upside down on a poll to get across. (It was used in "Applewood Amulet" and "Lucky Pillow")
- The side scrolling net (featured in "Marble Armrest of Xerxes")
- The floating icebergs (Broken Trident, Mussel Shell Armor)

Favorite Temple Games:
- The one where you jump on a trampoline and launch yourself onto a net.
- Both Season 2 "wet games" where you're either getting squirted or having to climb up a log where water spits on you.

For the record...
Least Favorite Moats:
- The "build a bridge" one. It's no wonder those moats took forever.
- The one in "Secret Map of the Bandit Queen" where you have to balance across on a plank.

Least Favorite Temple Games:
- The one where you have to throw a ball backwards so your partner could catch it.
Thats about all I can think of right now...

I like how everyone's starting to use that "side-scrolling net" term I came up with.

Do you mean the team game in The Jeweled Scabbard of Sforza?

Yep, that game always looked impossible to master IMO...and speaking of Jeweled Scabbard, because this game always seemed so hard its no wonder that game came down to a scoreless tie.

I just of thought one more.  How could I possibly forget that "fallen timber" Moat? That ranks among the worst since it was so hard.  I mean, I think every episode that featured it the mist was at least starting to disappear at the end of the round.

Is that the moat featured in episodes such as "Stone Head" and "Cracked Crown?" Or was that just the build a bridge moat.
