Wow, that's awesome! There's still a lot of Nick there for the time being, obviously. Did you get a chance to see the time capsule that was there?

yeah there was this sewer grate type thing marking where it was, I think it said they would open it in 2040 something. I wonder if they will actually keep it there in the event they build something over that spot?

There's going to be a Bruce Almighty sequel?

Nice pics, bro.  Call me a sentimental old fool, but it brings a tear to my eye thinking that so much used to happen there.

From the article I read about Nick Studios closing, it said something like "although the classic slime fountain is gone, the time capsule will be preserved."

So, it should still be there and continue to be there until it is opened in that certain year.

Thanks to damn Nick, that studio is absolutely empty. No game shows, and all the Nick work is done in California. That's pretty sad.

Maybe the time capsule is housing a giant nuclear fallout shelter. Deep deep inside are the sets and props from the old shows, as well as the remains of Danny Timberelli.

It's possible... It's possible indeed.

Here's a picture of the time capsule, by the way. (I did not take it.)

Aw, '92?  Too early.  I was hoping that when some kid opens the time capsule in the future, a temple guard would jump out and capture him.

It's all about money. In the early 1990's, Nick cancelled any show not filmed at their studios. Then in the late 1990's, they cancelled any show not filmed at their California studio. Plus in the world of kids TV, shows are typically cancelled after 3 seasons regardless of ratings. It's sad, but true.

Nick just wanted to experiment with more cartoon-based programming as opposed to live action shows, which were more expensive to produce.

Every competitive company exists to make money, regardless of what method they use to do so. In Nick's case, it was getting rid of the live-action shows, slowly, but surely.

Although they kept their studio during this transition, just in case they'd need it, it was eventually closed down because they weren't doing any shows there and they weren't interested in the Universal Studios leasing rate, I'm sure.

I agree wholeheartedly, but there's not much that can be done at this point, unless you convince the highest-rated basic cable network (Nickelodeon) to take a risk.
