So I guess we can consider the Shiva players slow and not bad.

Except the Stolen Arm of Shiva team took slowness to a new level. And the second runner did not know how to assemble a monkey.

The Elizabeth I's Golden Ship team in a nutshell is that they weren't a bad team really, they just had a bad outcome. Unfortunately, that outcome makes this run seem like a bottom 10 one.

Joe was really the slow one.  Looking back, I might knock him down to a 4 on the Temple Run.  But really, Gabby wasn't slow, she just wasn't fast.  She was about average pace.  Combine that with her competence in the temple, and that's why I gave her a 6.

With Leah, she was pretty fast, but she wasted time in a few places, namely the Wall Climb and the Tomb of the Ancient Kings.  That's why I only gave her a 6 on the Temple Run.


I'm trying my best to do this objectively and consistently.  A key factor in that is not being predisposed to earlier opinions, so as a judge, I have to be open to "maybe this person wasn't so bad" or "maybe this person was worse than we thought".  I'm certainly surprised by how some people ranked, but I have to accept it unless it's evident that I didn't judge it fairly.

And like TRJ said, I'm looking at the whole episode.  As we've already seen, just the Temple Run is not necessarily representative of their overall skill.

Notes about this episode: This episode provides a good example of what I've been seeing a lot lately - when good teams are facing each other in the Temple Games, it often boils down to who screws up in the final game.  In this case, it was Charles.  And that's a shame because Jennifer was a good player who I think deserved to go to the Temple Run.

Robert was also pretty good, but he was less consistent than Jennifer.  Robert just had two good rounds, and the rest average, whereas Jennifer consistently did above average.  Jessica was easily the worst contestant here, but I don't really have anything special to say about her.

Notes about this episode:  Okay, this one was really lackluster.  In the end, the Silver Snakes kinda sucked, but the Blue Barracudas weren't that much better.  Seeing the final scores only strengthens the idea in my mind that this was an undeserved win.

Notes about this episode: Now I understand why TeenNick chose this episode of Legends on UPick.  This was a really good episode, and not just for the over-the-top Temple Guard reactions.  These were some top notch players (Except for Annie who managed a 1 on the Steps of Knowledge.  Seriously, she never even inched toward the buzzer.)  If only Shay had won her individual game, I'm sure the Silver Snakes would've won in the Temple Run.  Damn you, Jordan!

Notes about this episode: Dammit.  Another sucky episode.  Interestingly, the Purple Parrots averaged higher than the Blue Barracudas, and I can explain why.  Annie on the Purple Parrots did worse in the Temple Games than the previous two rounds, whereas Scott on the Blue Barracudas improved in the Temple Games.  I don't really have anything else to say about this episode, except for that I'm curious what would've happened if Scott had gone in the Temple.  I can't imagine it'd be worse, but I wonder if they would've won, or at least reached the pig.

These are pretty decent and reasonable rankings. Just a couple of notes:

I am glad that your rankings show Mitchell from the Moccasins of Geronimo as being nothing more than an average contestant in the temple. I mean all he had to was spin a sundial as an objective, the rest is him just casually walking through the rooms. And not to mention he assembled the monkey after grabbing the Moccasins. Not even Kimberly from the Broken Trident of Poseidon was that stupid. 

Also, there is no doubt in my mind that Scott would've done better than Kristen. I mean Kristen entered every room possible (minus Heart Room) on her way to the artifact, and this included taking forever in the Wall Climb and Dungeon, and she still finished one room away. If he took her exact same path, and took the Cave of Sighs instead, this would've been an impressive solo victory.

Yeah, Geronimo was a pretty lackluster episode. It seemed like both teams in the temple games were subpar, and we all know about the temple run. And I agree about Scott from Amelia Earhart. He would have been a million times better than Kristen was. He probably would have won for the team. Overall, I agree with all the ratings.

And I'm very pleased with the rankings of the "Henry VIII" contestants. That episode doesn't get nearly the praise it deserves...

Yeah, Henry VIII's Great Seal is one of the better and more exciting episodes in season one. I mean from the temple games where Kirk slips and falls to the exciting temple run, its easily the best episode in S1L4, not to mention one of the better episodes in season one.

THK's S1L5 rankings should be interesting as most of those runs are pretty pitiful, although the Oracle Bowl of Delphi team was pretty strong pre-temple rounds if I recall correctly.

When did Henry VIII not get enough praise? We always praise it for how exciting the whole episode is. I mean, how else did we save it early in the "save the runs" game? But yeah, it's a great episode from beginning to end. Teenick did a great job picking which episode to play for their UPick lineup. Shay and Nick were a pretty good team despite losing.

And yeah, I can't wait for the S1L5 episode rankings. Most of the runs were pretty subpar, and it's the only filming day in Season 1 where EVERY run was a loss. And The Oracle Bowl of Delphi team was a very strong team pre temple rounds. It was Jackie that screwed everything up. It was PP Pwnage up until the temple run. It will be interesting to see how they rank.

Notes about this episode: Rex was easily the best contestant here, but unfortunately he couldn't make it to the temple because A) his partner sucked, and B) he choked at the tiebreaker.  But you'll notice everyone got deducted for the tiebreaker, and that's because even after all the choices were read, everyone was clueless.  In fact, I almost applaud Rex for at least taking a shot, but unfortunately I still have to deduct since he gave the wrong answer.  Aaron was okay, but both girls here really sucked.  But considering Jacquelin's performance, I don't know how much better this would've been if the Red Jaguars went to the temple instead.

Overall, Rex was the only thing I enjoyed about this episode.  He was a good contestant, and has a pretty cool name.

Notes about this episode: The harsh truth about this episode - both guys were pretty good, but both girls sucked.  Really, it'd kinda be pushing it to say this was Purple Parrots Pwnage up until the temple run, but they did do pretty well in the early rounds.  The last two temple games, though.  That was pathetic.

Overall, this is another episode with only a few redeeming points.  Namely Shane's Moat and individual game performance.

Notes about this episode: Why must all the episodes in this set suck so much?  Katie was the only respectable performance.  She did pretty well in the pre-Temple rounds, but kinda sucked once she got in.  The only thing I liked in this episode was the Steps of Knowledge.  It was really exciting because almost everybody knew every answer, so it basically came down to who could ring in first.  And it ended up with a 4-way tie on the last step.

I agree, I was never a fan of those set of episodes and most of them are so forgettable and boring. Plus, their temple runs have pretty crappy outcomes.

I do have a few notes though:

PONCE DE LEON AND THE LOST FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH:

I find it kind of strange that James has a lower score than his partner in the temple. I mean he was kind of slow and stupid during the run, but at least he made it one room away from the artifact. I mean he knew what he was doing in every room, but messed up by not taking the Shrine shortcut.

Also, his partner made some strange decisions with her alloted time in the temple. This includes unnecessarily backtracking to the Observatory as if the Heart Room magically opened or something. 

THE ORACLE BOWL OF DELPHI

I am glade Shane is rated much higher than Jackie. Minus the Steps, he was no doubt much better than Jackie was. This includes a strong team temple game performance and temple run performance.

THE PAINTBRUSH OF LEONARDO DA VINCI

Yeah, Katie was decent throughout her episode before the temple run. I am glad that you were able to capture her dominance in the earlier rounds. Too bad she messed up bad in the temple run though.

Overall, decent rankings once again. S1L5 is one of the more irritating episodes of season one, so good job getting by it. S1L6 should be a little better, but there are a couple of boring episodes hiding in there too.

Man, S1L5 was very lackluster. Just about every episode sucked. I hope S1L6 is better than this, hopefully it can take our minds off of S1L5's rankings.
