THE SHRIVELED HAND OF EFOUA

Janelle
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 8.5
Individual Game: 7
Team Game: 8
Temple Run: 5
Overall: 7.1

Bobby
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7.5
Individual Game: 5.5
Team Game: 7.5
Temple Run: 4.5
Overall: 6.4

Casey
Moat: 8
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 7
Team Game: 6
Overall: 7.0

Eric
Moat: 7.5
Steps of Knowledge: 10
Individual Game: 6
Team Game: 6
Overall: 7.38

NOTES:
Wow, this episode was the definition of an average episode. There is nothing that really stands out and both teams were close.

The temple games were close in the entire episode. Casey was doing good in his temple game, but he kind of struggled at the end and Bobby struggled as well. Even though they tied, I had to give Bobby a lower score though because he stupidly threw his hat.

The Orange Iguanas did much better in the team game though. Janelle had good aim with the catapult and Bobby did well trying to catch them. Ultimately, Orange beat Blue 2-1.

The temple run was pretty boring, but the team made it pretty far. I had to give Bobby a lower score though because he went up into the Shrine for some unknown reason instead of plowing through the wall.

Really, there is not much to say. Both teams pretty much were close in each round.

THE MASK OF THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK

Danielle
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 9
Team Game: 9
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 7.6

Justin
Moat: 8
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 9
Team Game: 7.5
Temple Run: 6.5
Overall: 7.6

Margo
Moat: 6
Steps of Knowledge: 10
Individual Game: 5
Team Game: 4
Overall: 6.25

Paul
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 2
Team Game: 6
Overall: 5.5

NOTES:
This episode was much better than I expected. Prior to the temple, the Blue Barracudas were very dominant including finish first in the moat and sweeping the temple games.

Justin and Danielle absolutely DOMINATED the temple games. Both Danielle and Justin completed their games like there was nothing to it. The Green Monkeys didn't even stand a chance, although the Green Monkey boy looked bad in his game. The team temple game, Danielle had near precise aiming and Justin did a great job catching.

The temple run was kind of disappointing, but if you look at the players in the temple, their only problem was that damn Medusa's Lair detour. Danielle was pretty fast though and put two rocks in a Bucket at a time and Justin moved quite well. If Danielle didn't encounter that Medusa's Lair guard, then this would've been a solid solo win.

Overall, I have to say that Danielle and Justin are pretty underrated. Too bad the temple run brought them down though.

THE CROWN OF QUEEN NZINGA

Renee
Moat: 6.5
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Game: 6
Team Game: 7.5
Temple Run: 3
Overall: 6.2

Benjamin
Moat: 7.5
Steps of Knowledge: 8.5
Individual Game: 8
Team Game: 7.5
Temple Run: 6
Overall: 7.5

Tracy
Moat: 5.5
Steps of Knowledge: 9.5
Individual Game: 4
Team Game: 6
Overall: 6.25

Robbie
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 6.5
Team Game: 6
Overall: 6.63

NOTES:
This episode was pretty unexciting. There is nothing really to talk about as none of the players really stood out.

The Steps featured the Purple Parrot girl doing remarkebly well, while the Red Jaguars performed pretty well in the temple games.

The Red Jaguars really should've gone to the temple with two pendants, but Renee fumbled her last crown in the last ten seconds. If she got the crown in, then the team would've won the temple games 2-0.5 and didn't have to avoid that Temple Spirit.

Nothing really notable about the temple run. Benjamin moved at an average pace, but Renee is the one at fault for this run ending in triple capture. How do you miss that obvious half-pendant? Not only that, she had the freaking option of plowing through the wall. Even if it was locked, the option was still there. One of the worst runs of season two.

Overall, this was the weakest episode of the entire production day.

THE TWO-CORNERED HAT OF NAPOLEON

Brian
Moat: 7.5
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Game: 6
Team Game: 8.5
Temple Run: 7
Overall: 7.4

Carly
Moat: 7.5
Steps of Knowledge: 8
Individual Game: 5
Team Game: 8.5
Temple Run: 7
Overall: 7.2

Rebecca
Moat: 6.5
Steps of Knowledge: 7
Individual Game: 5
Team Game: 6.5
Overall: 6.25

Ryan
Moat: 7
Steps of Knowledge: 9
Individual Game: 5.5
Team Game: 6.5
Overall: 7.0

NOTES:
Of course, we save the best episode for last. The teams in this episode were very competitive and I enjoyed this episode the most.

The Red Jaguars are kind of lucky to not lose in the Steps. They barely made it past the Green Monkeys and Silver Snakes, who answered a few incorrectly. Carly even answered one incorrectly, but they still made it.

How did Brian tie his temple game? He was doing so well until getting that third crown. The Orange Iguana girl was slow in that temple game, but she managed to tie it in the last second. Carly should've also tied her temple game, but she struggled to climb the wall. The Orange Iguanas barely won within the last few seconds. The Red Jaguars did very well in their team game though, and win with about 20 seconds left on the clock.

The temple run was the best part of this episode. Even though Carly took the long way, I still gave her a good score because she was fast and still grabbed the Two-Cornered Hat after taking a long route. That was pretty impressive, considering the team entered nine rooms to reach it and this includes encountering all three guards.

Overall, this was a solid and very competitive episode.

Well, the last S2L3 day.... not a very remarkable filming day besides Napoleon. Either way, here are my thoughts on the rankings:

Efoua was just plain average at best. The only remarkable thing I can think of are the close competition in the temple games and the rare Blue vs. Orange match up. Which might I add is the last of only a mere 4 episodes to feature that color combination. But back to the episode, the Blue Barracudas and the Orange Iguanas were neck and neck all episode. By double sweeping the steps of knowledge and tying the first 2 temple games. But in the end, Orange won fair and square. The temple run was boring, that layout was hard. Though the shrine/shaft door was open, meaning Bobby should have taken that shortcut. It certainly would saved some time, and maybe he would have grabbed the hand at the last second. But, who knows....

Iron Mask was an average episode. And what a coincidence that I've just seen this one recently. The Blue Barracudas were a VERY strong team pre temple rounds. And they absolutely destroyed the Green Monkeys in the temple games, who pretty much had no chance. Though I personally thought both players were pretty sucky, especially the Green Monkey boy. Man, was he horrid in his temple game. He kept dropping the masks in the ceiling game, and never even scored at all. For the temple run, Danielle definitely would have won it if it wasn't for the Medusa's Lair dead end. Justin was pretty fast though, you gotta love his head first dive out of the Dark Forest. Imagine if the wall didn't break down though.

Queen Nzinga was just plain boring. Nothing much to say about this run except Renee should have been able to spot that obvious half pendant. I mean come on now, Claude, Kerry, and even Aqila found their half pendants. Why couldn't she? Though I'm not sure if the wall would have broken down. Since that has been theorized here in the past. Ugh, this was a horrible temple run. I was rooting for the Purple Parrots in the temple games. :(

And finally Napoleon, the breath of fresh air on this filming day. It was a great episode, and just about every round was close. Not much else to say about this run except if Carly had opened the shrine/shaft door properly (she didn't press the button hard enough), they would have won for sure.

Man, now that I think about it, Season 2 had quite the streak of losses too. I mean, between "Tall Turban" and "Snakeskin Boots," none of the other teams won. Though some of the teams (like the aforementioned Napoleon) actually reached the artifact. I guess mostly losses was a good way to balance things out since there had been 7 wins within the first four filming days of Season 2. Good stuff like always, which filming day do you think you'll do next?

This had to be the most average episode I have ever seen. There was nothing that even sticks out about this episode at all. And as hard as the temple run layout may have been, they were too slow to begin with, so I don't think they would have even touched the Shriveled Hand in the first place.

The Green Monkeys were pretty mediocre in this episode. But the Blue Barracudas looked phenomenal though, and both Danielle and Justin dominated their temple games. I forgot how strong this team was prior to the temple. And the temple run would've been a win had Danielle gone into Medusa's Lair. Even after all the time she wasted there, the team still managed to finish one room away. They were stronger than the "Ahmed Baba" team IMO.

I don't really think the wall would've broken down either, as it would've made that temple spirit encounter pointless. Besides, that layout would've been to easy had they been able to enter the Mine Shaft. Either way, its Renee's fault that it ended this way and no excuse for it to end in triple capture. I don't have sympathy for this team either.

There were a bunch of average and mediocre runs between "Ahmed Baba" and "Billy the Kid". A few of them could've been victories though had the contestants not made some stupid mistakes. I think I am going to do a season one production day next. I am thinking about doing the S1L2 episodes, mostly for "Map to the Lost Gold Mine". I am not looking forward to "Cricket Cage" at all. And I sure know that I am not going to give John a "3" in the temple either.

Also, one more thing I forgot to mention. Since when was Renee's individual game supposed to be declared a tie? I mean, if she fumbled her crown, and it didn't make it in the basket, then she lost fair and square. As for the temple spirit, she could have avoided it, just like Joel and Justin did. And if that had happened, we could have had another "Butch Cassidy" esque win on our hands. Otherwise, I don't think the wall would have broken down. But there was no excuse NOT to find that half pendant.

As far as your next rankings go, if you're really gonna do S1L2, good luck. Some of the worst episodes and/or runs come from that filming day. But at least you'll have John Sutter to look forward to. If you change your mind, you can do the S1L3 or S1L7 filming day. The ones you originally thought of doing. Of course, it's up to you.

Oh, I meant that if Renee got that last crown into the basket, then her temple game would've been a tie. And the Red Jaguars would've had one pendant going into the final temple game. But instead she rushed to get that last crown down, and lost because of it. The Purple Parrot boy definitely won that game fair and square. Not that it mattered, because Renee had no excuse for missing that half-pendant because it was plain as day. In fact, the only season two team that has an excuse for passing the half-pendant is "The Missing Eye of David" team. The temple layout was easy for the Red Jaguars in "Queen Nzinga", and it was their fault that it ended that way.

And yeah, I think I will be able to make it through S1L2. Honestly, "Elizabeth I's Golden Ship" is not a bad episode altogether. The temple games were decent and I like the wig game where the contestants were looking for that last wig when it wasn't there.  :mrred:

I would argue that the Walking Stick team would have an excuse, too, since their half-pendant was nowhere in sight. Not to mention that Ryann wouldn't have even needed it had she followed Chris' path.

Yeah, I never found the half-pendant in that run either. It had to be located somewhere before the Shrine though. Some people have guessed the Swamp, but we never get a good angle of the actuators in the Swamp. But I hav e more sympathy for the "Missing Eye" kids as all three guards were unavoidable.

Well, after struggling with giving rankings to the Purple Parrots from season 1, it's time to tackle season 2. First up is The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief. I'll get to it.

Just finished Bone Necklace and Lost Lion Tail. Here are my rankings for each:

The Bone Necklace of the Blackfeet Chief

Leah
Moat: 6.5
SoK: N/A (Brandon did all the work, so I can’t really judge Leah here)
Individual Temple Game: 8
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 5.75
Average: 7.06

Brandon
Moat: 7
SoK: 9
Individual Temple Game: 8
Team Temple Game: 8
Temple Run: 7.25
Average: 7.85

Overall Team Average: 7.46

Notes
Not a bad episode. The Purple Parrots kind of struggled in the moat, getting 4th place, but they hung in there and made it. I had to dock Leah .5 points in the moat for almost falling into the water at the end. Brandon was the star here. Leah was okay, but nothing special. The temple run should've been a win. Leah moved too slow, but she didn't make any critical mistakes. Her only real mistake was trying to enter the King's Storeroom from the Swamp. She should've known that wasn't going to work. Overall, not a bad episode and the team averaged right around both the Oracle Bowl and the Cobra Staff team's.

The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

Marie
Moat: 7
SoK: 8
Individual Temple Game: 8.5
Team Temple Game: 7
Temple Run: 6
Average: 7.3

Claude
Moat: 7
SoK: 5 (didn’t answer a question, but tried to ring in once or twice, so there’s 5 points for trying)
Individual Temple Game: 6
Team Temple Game: 7
Temple Run: 3
Average: 5.6

Overall Team Average: 6.45

Notes
Oh boy, where do I start? Okay, the moat wasn't that bad. The Purple Parrots in this episode kind of struggled with this one too, but they hung on and made it. Marie seemed hesitant in ringing in at the SoK, but she knew the answers. Claude tried to ring in twice I think, but never answered. That's where the 5 points come from, for trying. Claude started off fast in his temple game, but the Silver Snake boy was quicker. Marie however owned her temple game. Very fast and efficient. The team game was interesting and heartbreaking. The Silver Snakes were leading this one until the very end when they dropped their sign and had to get it again. This opened the door for the Purple Parrots. They did fine in this one as well, but the Silver Snakes should've made it to the temple.

Now for the temple. This run was a disaster, all thanks to one player. Marie was decent in the temple. She knew what she was doing and seemed to be faster than Leah, thus the reason why I gave Marie a .25 point advantage over Leah. Hope for victory was there once she was taken out in the Swamp, but then disaster by the name of Claude came in. This boy was stupid in the temple! He made too many mistakes, hesitated too much, moved too slowly, and worst of all, he didn't even get out of the bottom of the temple! Someone obviously didn't take notes from Joel the day after his temple run. The bottom was easy. In Claude's position, there is no excuse not to get out of the bottom floor. Piss poor player. He's the reason why I wish the Silver Snakes made it to the temple over this team. Overall, this episode was kind of below average for me. Nothing special about it.

I'll do two more runs later. Those would be Sacred Ring and Leopard-Skin Cloak.

I knew Brandon was a pretty strong player, Leah was sort of average at best. Plus, she moved way too slow in the temple. Brandon was pretty fast, but not by much. I think this team would have won if they weren't so slow. And they so got lucky in the moat too. The Silver Snakes fell in at the last second, giving the Purple Parrots the opening they needed. I wonder where we have seen that type of thing happen before. More on that below. ;) Still a good episode though, and kudos to them for beating the Red Jaguars in the temple games. Something they never did again in the other 5 episodes that featured Red vs. Purple in the temple games.

And Lost Lion Tail was a pretty pitiful episode. Marie pretty much led the team, Claude looked like he didn't even want to be there. And of course, they got REALLY lucky in the third temple game. The Silver Snakes were just about to win, until they dropped their sign. Giving the Purple Parrots yet another window of opportunity. And the temple run was just awful. Marie did okay, her only problem was in the Rock Quarry, where she kept missing the bucket. Claude was just pathetic. He was not even trying in the temple. He walked through every room, and couldn't even figure out what to do in the Dark Forest. Oh well, at least he found the half pendant, which he did need. But either way, the Silver Snakes probably would have done a better job for sure.

Good stuff though, can't wait until you get to Leopard Skin Cloak's ratings. TRJ ranked them pretty well, maybe they'll still do well for you too. Since it was PP Pwnage after all. :P

I feel like a 5.6 rating for Claude is being a little too generous. Does that look about right to everyone?

For the individual game, yes. Claude was really slow in his game. He wasn't even anywhere near the finish line before the Silver Snakes won. I would have given him a 4 for that, and probably a 6 for the moat too. I didn't think he was fast there either. Otherwise, the rankings are pretty accurate.
