The third temple game was that one where they have to run out an retreive an item before getting hit by a huge boulder. In the beginning of the game, Jennifer of the Orange Iguanas runs out to early and is slammed back by one of the boulders... it's pretty funny.

To this day, I rank this as one of the funniest moments in Legends history. I have this episode on tape, and whenever I see it, I have to rewind it and watch it again. Even my dad thinks it's hysterical!

Something else I noticed. Remember when Nick was in The King's Storeroom, and Kirk said he knocked the third pot right off the edge? I have a theory that he was trying to hit Jennifer, because she kept yelling at him. You can clearly see her standing below him, so it's not impossible to do. Who knows?

Something to take a look at is that the boy on the Orange Iguanas isn't wearing a name tag... weird.

I believe it came off in his solo game. He's clearly wearing one when Kirk introduces the teams.

I think that Jennifer getting hit by that boulder was the funniest moment in the show

Just watched the Stone Marker of Leif Erikson - Nothing for nothing, but the teams in season 1 should have learned that whenever an artifact is in the Tomb of Anchient Kings, the door from the Bamboo forest wil obviously be locked and the door above only opens up from the Treasure Room. Yeah, the door in the Shaka Zulu episode opened (by accident) and I think that was a bit of an unfortunate influence.

The Stone Marker of Leif Erickson:

Oy.  The design in this episode was just horrendus.  There was absolutely no way the team was gonna succeed, especially when the frontrunner got to the Bamboo Forest, only to encounter a Guard, and a dead end that stalled her for a full minute.  Her partner did all he could, but didn't nearly have enough time to make any further progress.

The Snow Cone of Mount Kilimanjaro

And, an 0-2 day on the block today.  :(  This was a pretty mediorcre and disappointing loss, so I shan't be commenting on this one.

I need to catch up, I'm writing short reviews.

The Two-Cornered Hat of Napoleon: I like this episode. It is the best example for how a 1/2 Pendant is needed. Brian & Carly really deserved it. Note, I have this episode on tape from a 97-98 rerun, & the name "Carly" gets the red squiggle under it on Word & it is spellchecked.

The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud - Purple Parrots fall in the Moat was funny, Jennifer being knocked down was funny. Jennifer was the only yeller who actually pulled her weight. She was pretty fast, only hesitating in the Crypt & across the Pit of the Pendulum. They should've gotten it too.

The Stone Marker of Leif Erikson - I refused to watch the whole thing. It was miserable, a lot like the Paintbrush of Leonardo Da Vinci, but Paintbrush is better :D, only Temple Guard in the Bamboo Forest

The Snow Cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro - Though they didn't have too much time to do this, I wish they got caught by Temple Guards, there is clearly one in the Quicksand Bog. Or, maybe they could've at least grabbed the Snow Cone is Casey avoided the Temple Guard in the Dark Forest, busted through the wall, out in the Quicksand Bog, & Heather did the same. The Silver Monkey would've gotten them though. Once again, I didn't watch the whole episode, the Legend was one of the worst. The assistant put orange juice in the snow & he made a snow cone, that's why it was yellow :-

Today's eps:

The Lost Lion Tail of Little John

Yet another of those frustrating Runs where a slow-witted partner has to pick up where the speedy frontrunner left off and fails miserably.  This time, it was the boy who had to pick up after the girl, but the result was still the same: disasterous.

The Lost Logbooks of Magellan:

Not many mistakes here.  It was the lack of the second half-pendant that did this team in.  No team ever even reached an artifact located in the Dungeon, but this team came the closest.  If they had just found the missing half-pendant, they could've at least gotten the logbooks, if not escaped.

The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen

Not much needs to be said about this one that hasn't already been said many times on this forum and other sites.  Zac was simply a monster in the Temple.  The only real mistake this team made was Miriam's minor miscue heading into the Dark Forest, but Zac more than made up for that minor gaffe.

The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart

One of the few times that the frontrunner fails to grab the object AND keeps the second player from entering the temple.  The main highlight of this one is Kirk's energy.  Watch the Games here, as Kirk interviews the contestants after every game, something that never happens in any of the other episodes.

Catching up on episode summaries:

The Stone Marker of Leif Erikson -
Average episode. Red Jaguars go to the temple. Cool temple gaurd in the Bamboo Forest. Bamboo Forest was locked, pretty much lost because of impossible layout.

The Snowcone of Mount Kilamanjaro -
Pretty bad episode, IMO. The Silver Snakes were less than impressive in the temple. The frontrunner moved so slow. Hilarious temple spirit in the Dark Forst. It was so premature in trying to grab Casey. As the tree is waving it's arms around, Casey weighs his options and since there was no key in the first tree, he just walks into the spirit tree. Heather runs in... she moves faster than her partner but doesn't make up any time. She finds the key in the Forest, opens the door climbs upto the shrine, but some sort of production error keeps her from entering the shrine. The door leading into the shrine doesn't open. Oh well, they weren't going to make it anyway.

The Lost Lion Tail of Little John -
Most people don't like this episode because the Purple Parrots won only because the Silver Snakes dropped their sign in the last temple game giving the Purple Parrots an opening. Then after all that, the Purple Parrots went on to give a not so stellar performance in the temple. Marie went in first. She went upto the Crypt but was forced down to the Ledges where a temple gaurd pulled her legs out from under her. In the Rock Quarry, Marie missed the bucket twice... I expected better from her since she basically carried the team through the entire show... Anyways, she goes into the Laser Light Room and reveals  the white light on the first block (lucky... made up for the time wasted in the Rock Quarry). Was this the only time the white light was revealed on the first pull? Anyways, a temple gaurd in the Swamp takes her out. Claude runs in. He's about to go into the Ledges but changes his mind mid-way down the slide and goes upto the Crypt..... He makes his way to the Swamp at an average pace, finds the hidden half pendant, goes into the Dark Forest, hesitates, gives the half pendant to a temple spirit, finds the key, it doesn't work on the shrine doors, time is running down, busts through the wall, seems confused about where to go next but it doesn't matter cuz time ran out. All in all, i actually like this episode. It was pretty close competitions all the way through and the temple run isn't THAT bad... so whatever.

The Lost Logbooks of Magellan -
What cost this Blue Baracudas team was two unnecessary trips into the Room of Harmonic Convergance. Basically, that decision ended their chances of winning in more way than one. There was a temple gaurd in there that took the frontrunner's pendant. Then it turned out to be a dead end so a lot of time was wasted. He went back into the Pit and tried the Heart Room where he was removed. Heather (i think that's what her name was) ran in at a slower pace than her partner but it was acceptable. She tried the Room of Harmonic Convergance as wel, but it still didn't work. She eventually makes it to the Pirate's Cove with time running down. It looks like she could make a last second grab, but a third temple gaurd removes her from the temple all together because she only had a half. So as i was saying, going into the Room of Harmonic Convergance cost them because there was a temple gaurd there, and honestly, i don't think there was any chance of them finding the hidden half pendant. Even if they did have 2 full pendants, they wasted so much time in that room because of the dead end that there wasn't enough time to grab the Logbooks and get out.

The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen -
Great episode even if Miriam did stall before going into the Dark Forest, 'nuff said.

The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart -
Kirk seemed to have an unusual amount of energy in this episode. It was definitely one of Kirk's personal best episodes. Anyways, Kristin of the Blue Baracudas volunteers to go first. She meets a temple gaurd in the very first room. She has trouble climbing the walls in the pit and wastes a good 40-or-so seconds. She then slowly makes her way across basically the entire temple. When she gets to the Dungeon, she has trouble finding the breakable wall... i thought that was funny. Anyways, there's like 10 seconds left as she's entering the Swamp and Kirk is getting really excited. He actually starts yelling and it sounds like he's straining his voice, but it added to the excitement. He was like "MAYBE SHE CAN GET A LAST SECOND GRAB!" and it looked like that was possible...until a temple gaurd emerged from the popcorn. The second player didn't even get to go into the temple because there wasn't enough time... Tough luck... he was a really supportive partner too.... I actually don't hate this episode even though the frontrunner basically did 2:58 of it without reaching the artifact... I was rooting for the Parrots in the temple games though. :?

NOTE: This was easily a harder layout than "The Lost Fountain of Youth" episode. The Shrine-Tomb passage didn't open in this one whereas in the Water Bottle episode, it did and the temple gaurd located right before the room where the artifact was located basically made for the same outcome.

Maybe the Lucky Pig episode was the first Season 1, Layout 4 episode. Just a thought I had, considering Kirk had a lot of energy lol

The Lost Lion Tail of Little John - Eww. Marie lead the team, they only got in the Temple because Silver Snakes dropped their sign. Marie missed the bucket twice, got the laser first try. Man, Claude was so slow. He found the key, busted through the wall, then as time ran out, he put the key into the peephole for the Temple Guards in the Mine Shaft. Eww...

The Lost Logbooks of Magellan - Mehh, pretty average, but I liked it. Funny how Jennifer (another one) & Jessica's favorite groups are both SWV. They shouldn't have gone into the Room of Harmonic Convergence

TODAY:

The Secret Map of the Bandit Queen - We all know about this one, I just wanna point out some funny things. Kirk after the Moat was like "the Green Monkeys & Purple Parrots are wet, so they'll get a prize & won't leave empty handed". When they go to the Shrine of the Silver Monkey to show the Map after the Legend, you can see some lights shining through the Jester-Headless Kings door. I'll post more (& the Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart) later.

I checked out the Lucky Pig. Yeah, she was WAY too slow. Although the layout looked pretty tough. She would have had to gone throughout the entire temple to get to artifact.

Also, the producers tricked the team because they placed a guard in the entrance room that was NOT directly to the artifact. Usually, they are.

Hey, did anybody notice during the credit role, you can see the temple guard fell back asleep in the Swamp? lol

I know that it also says that he put the key in the Mineshaft door on Nicklegends's site as well, but honestly... he did no such thing.... re-watch it... he really didn't. It did look like he was going to though...

Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd

A pair of good, intelligent players, but a tough design paired with a couple unecessary detours cost the team here.

The Bellybutton of Buddah

The frontrunner here had average speed, but seemed to know what she was doing, and aside from a few brief moments of hesitation, managed the solo win.

The Bullet-Riddled Handbag of Belle Boyd -
This was a really solid team. During the moat, the Green Monkeys girl falls right before hitting the gong. Skipping to the temple. Leah of the Green Monkeys moved at a fast pace. She had the choice between the King's Storeroom and The Chamber of the Scared Markers in the Pit and unforunately, that was the wrong choice, as it proved to be just a detour. She made her way to the Dark Forest where she was taken out. Matthew ran in with 59 seconds left. He was also moving at a fast pace, but he made the same error his partner made and went upto the King's Storeroom when he didn't have to. Eventually he made it to the Dark Forest. There was no key in the trees so he busted through the wall into the temple gaurded Quicksand Bog. He must've been distarcted by the gaurd because he didn't try the Shrine door which most likely would've opened. So, time runs out when he was just two rooms away in the Room of the Secret Password. They would've won had they taken the most direct routes.

NOTE: The temple run music ends in a weird spot, and the team would've entered every room with an objective had they actually reached the Handbag.

The Belly Button of Buddha -
Definitely one of the better episodes of season 1. However, it's these kinds of episodes that make he Purple Parrots look bad. They didn't even get the first partner across the moat before the other 4 teams finished. Anyways, the legend was solid. The temple games were solid. The temple run was unusual, but solid. Jennifer runs in at a decent pace. She doesn't seem to be having any problems. In the Bamboo Forest, she tries the corner door leading up... of course it doesn't open though. In the Tomb of the Ancient Kings, she takes the door upwards to the Shrine. Once she completes the monkey, she runs into the Room of the Three Torches by accident. She realizes her mistake and goes into the Treasure Room where she meets a temple gaurd and gets distracted for a good 15-or-so seconds before realizing she can enter the Observatory where the Belly Button was located. So, she grabs it and runs out at top speed for a solo win.

NOTE: These two kids on the Blue Baracudas looked so freaking alike.... and during the first temple game, Kirk was calling Jennifer "him" and stuff. Guess he got confused by her boy-ish haircut. :P
