The Treasure Room / The Sandle of Pheidippides

That was really good... but the guy got the Sandle and got out in 8 SECONDS?!? I thought my run was unrealistic... it was really good, and I can believe most of it, but just maybe slow down your players a tad. :D

I find it a little strange that I came up with the idea for the artifact & clearly stated I would want permission to use any of my ideas. I'm OK with this, because it was an awesome episode, but I'm still doing my version of "The Lost Chart-Maps of Captain James COok".

I did give you credit for the idea at the bottom of the Temple Run post, and I asked for permission in another thread, but you were away so I presumed it was OK with you. Sorry.  :D

I think I PM'd you... oh well.

I have no frickin' clue how they went into two dead ends and every single room yet still got the artifact. Maybe a little bit unrealistic, but hey - they could've been very fast. Nice job.

If you watch 'The Stolen Arm of Shiva,' right after they mention the prizes there's a wipe and you can see a shot of the temple. You can see the Temple Guard in the Cave of Size squating into position.

In the 'Enormous Iron Nose Ring of Babe,' as Joel is returning through The Ledges, a pair of bare Temple Guard feet can be seen walking through the Crypt.
There were often cameramen stationed in that room; are you sure it was a temple guard?

I just watched it, and it was definitely a temple guard.

Temple Run Summary:
A disappointing run, to say the least. Jennifer (bloody hell, another one) ran up into the temple carrying the Barracudas' only full pendant. She ran into the pit, and then after standing on the podium saw only the door to the King's Storeroom open. A temple guard took her pendant there, after which she ran into the Treasure Room and got taken out completely with just over 2 minutes remaining. But Bob was one of the slowest competitors of the 4th season. He walked up the stairs to the Room of the Evil Clowns, and continued slowly into the Treasure Room with just over a minute left. But then he made a big mistake, and passed up the half pendant on an inactive actuator in the Treasure Room. He moved into the Shrine, put the Silver Monkey together, and moved into the Lightning Ball Room - another big mistake. The third temple guard was waiting there. This outcome could have been avoided if Bob had gone down into the Dark Forest from the Shrine (the door was open) or he'd got the half-pendant. Sad, really.

The Temple Run:

KIRK:
Welcome back to Legends. The Blue Barracudas have proven themselves worthy and have earned themselves the right to enter Olmec?s temple. But before we get started, Olmec?s going to give them some information that is going to help them retrieve the Football of Walter Camp.

OLMEC:
You could start by running up the stairs to The Room of the Evil Clowns! Hit the correct nose, and you may be able to move into... the Pit of the Podium. Swing over to the podium, hit the actuators, and you might be able to move into... the King's Storeroom. Smash the clay pots to find the key, and maybe you can move into... the Chamber of the Sacred Markers! Match the markers on the right, to the holes on the left, and you could move into... the Treasure Room! Open the chest, and climb down, or move into... the Shriiiine of the Siiiiilver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be able to enter... the Lightning Ball Room. Plug in the cords to create your own lightning, and slide down the Pharaoh's Secret Passage into... the Quicksand Bog! Smash through the wall, and move into... the Dark Forest. But beware the Temple Guards, that may inhabit the trees! Find the key in the tree, and move into the Swamp! Climb through, and move into... the Throne Room! Sit on the Throne, enter the Pit of the Podium, climb through the Ledges, race down the stairs and back through the temple gate. The choices are yours, and yours alone! You won one pendant in the temple games. Who's going first? (I am!) Very well, Jennifer! When Kirk gives the signal, you?ll race through the gate into the temple and make your way towards the Football of Walter Camp. Hidden inside the temple are temple guards assigned to protect three specific rooms. You can trade your pendant for an extra life and go on, but if you?re caught without a pendant, you?ll be taken out of the temple and it will be Bob?s turn to try his luck. Somewhere in the temple is the other half of your pendant. If you can find it, you'll gain an extra life! If you can reach the artifact, all the doors in the temple will instantly unlock, and the temple guards will vanish. Return through the gates with the artifact within three minutes, and you will both be handsomely rewarded. And here?s how: (prizes).

KIRK:
OK now, let's get your mouthpieces in. Set the clock for three minutes. Olmec, lower your gate. OK Jennifer. On your marks. Get set. Go!

Temple Games:

KIRK:
Welcome back to Legends. Now the glory goes to the fastest and the strongest. But before we get started, lets find out a little about our teams. (Talks to team members). Okay, go get ready for the temple games. Wondering whats happening? Teams are competing in temple games to win: Pendants of Life. They?re going to need those pendants to protect themselves from the dreaded temple guards as they make their way through the temple. There are three temple games. Olmec, tell us about temple game number one.

TEMPLE GAME 1:

OLMEC:
One of the main things in football is accuracy - throwing the ball, or performing plays accurately. You'll need to be accurate in this game as well! When Kirk gives the signal, grab a ring and toss it onto the pole! You'll do this for sixty seconds. The player that gets all of their rings onto the pole, or, the player thats furthest along in sixty seconds, wins.

KIRK:
Alright, we're goin' ring tossing! Let's put sixty seconds on the clock! Thankyou. On your marks. Get set. Go!

(Blue Barracudas win)

TEMPLE GAME 2:

KIRK:
And the Blue Barracudas get the half-pendant of life! (applause) Olmec, tell us about temple game number 2.

OLMEC:
American football is all about getting the ball over a line. In this game, you'll be doing the same! When Kirk gives the signal, balls will come flying in from either side. Get the ball, and push it towards your opponents team-mates. But, don't forget to defend your own! The first player to knock over all four team-mates or the player thats further along in sixty seconds, wins.

KIRK:
OK, Red Jaguars can catch up in this game. Sixty seconds on the clock. On your marks. Get set. Go!

(Red Jaguars win)

TEMPLE GAME 3:

KIRK:
So we're tied at half a pendant a piece. This final game is worth a full pendant - this will decide the temple. Olmec, tell us about it.

OLMEC:
One of the best passers in American Football history is Brett Favre. It's been said that he can throw so hard, he can knock people over - you'll need to be this good in this game! When Kirk gives the signal, the first player will put a ball in the slingshot and fire at a pillar. Then, your partner will have a chance to shoot a ball. You'll alternate doing this for sixty seconds. The first team to knock over all four pillars, or - the team thats further along in sixty seconds, wins.

KIRK:
Alright, this game's for the temple. Let's put sixty seconds on the clock. On your marks. Get set. Go!

(Blue Barracudas win)

KIRK:
The Blue Barracudas knocked down all four pillars before time ran out - they're going to the temple! Red Jaguars, you gave it a great effort, let's see what we've got for you.

(Prizes)

We're gonna see if the Blue Barracudas can retrieve the Football of Walter Camp, and we're gonna do it right after this! (applause)

The Legend:
KIRK:
As the quest continues, it?s now time for Olmec to tell us about the Football of Walter Camp. But pay attention, because your knowledge of the legend can bring you a step closer to Olmec?s Temple.

OLMEC:
One of the most popular sports in America is american football. It was created by Walter Camp in 1880, who made the game by adding 'scrimmages' to the existent game of rugby. He eventually introduced downs, and 11 players per side. But not everyone wanted to listen to Camp.

WALTER CAMP:
We need to change the system of football so we have downs - Princeton and Yale are just taking too long and not scoring!

IVY LEAGUE REP:
Nonsense. The game is fine as it is.

OLMEC:
Walter sighed. He knew the game wasn't right as it was. So he kept campaigning. One of the main things he did was to introduce the football shape into the game. After he made the football, he brought it to the Ivy League again...

WALTER CAMP:
I've got another idea for football!

IVY LEAGUE REP:
No, we can't have naked women playing it.

WALTER CAMP:
No, it's a different idea this time. It's a new shape for the ball!

IVY LEAGUE REP:
What? This is stupid!

OLMEC:
And with that, the Ivy League threw out the ball. Camp eventually made a new one, and got it into the game, no-one could ever find the original ball.

The Football eventually made its way into the temple! Your quest is to find it and bring it back here.

KIRK:
Thank you, Olmec. Tell us, where is the Football?

OLMEC:
The Football can be found... in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers.

The Steps of Knowledge:

KIRK:
OK, teams, you are now standing on the Steps of Knowledge. In a minute, Olmec will ask you a question. If you think you know the answer, stomp down on the ancient marking in front of you. If you?re right, you?ll move down to the next level. If you?re wrong or you run out of time, I?m going to give the other teams a chance to answer. The first two teams to make it to the bottom level (Kirk descends steps) will be one step closer to Olmec?s Temple. Olmec, we are now ready for your first question.

*SKIPPING, BECAUSE IT WILL TAKE TOO LONG TO WRITE UP THE WHOLE THING*

And when we come back, the Red Jaguars and the Blue Barracudas are gonna be competing for the right to enter Olmec's temple, and they're gonna do it right after this!

Legends of the Hidden Temple
Lost Season 4, Episode 4.
The Football of Walter Camp

The camera makes its way through a forest. Eventually, it comes to a stone head. It's eyes light up, and it begins to speak...

OLMECpx]
Legends of the Hidden Temple. (Applause) With your guide, Kirk Fogg! (Kirk bursts out of the door in the Room of Evil Clowns, wearing a temple guard mask. He pulls the mask off, walks out of the temple and walks up the steps of knowledge). And here he is now!

KIRK:
(Stops at top of steps) Thank you! Thankyou, very much. Nice to see you! (Points towards crowd) Nice to see you, Olmec. Welcome to Legends of the Hidden Temple. The rooms are filled with lost treasures that are guarded by mysterious Mayan temple guards. Only Olmec knows the legend behind each of the treasures in his temple. Which one are we going to hear about today?

OLMEC:
The legend of the Football of Walter Camp.

KIRK:
Ohhh, The Football of Walter Camp! Well, one of these six teams will have the chance to retrieve the Football. Will it be? (camera moves to other side of moat, panning as Kirk announces teams) The Red Jaguars? (hold for applause after each team) The Blue Barracudas? The Green Monkeys? The Orange Iguanas? The Purple Parrots? Or the Silver Snakes?

They?re going to have to pass some tough mental and physical tests, and in the end, only one team will have the right to enter Olmec?s temple, but first they have to cross the moat - and Olmec will tell us how they?ll have to do it today.

The Moat:

OLMEC:
Before you lies a rope. When Kirk gives the signal, the first player will jump in, with the rope, and swim to the other side. When you get to the other side, tie the rope around the pole and pull it tight, because then the second player will walk across the moat, standing on the rope! When the second player gets to the other side, they can run over and hit the gong. (Kirk hits gong). The first four teams will go on to the next round!

KIRK:
All right, teams, are you ready? (kids cheer) Olmec, are you ready?

OLMEC:
Oooh Yeahhh.

KIRK:
On your marks. Get set. GO!

(Event occurs)

That's it! We've got our four teams! (applause) Great work by the Purple Parrots, they made their way across very quickly, and moving on to the Steps of Knowledge is the Purple Parrots! (applause) And the Green Monkeys! (applause) And the Blue Barracudas! (applause) And the Red Jaguars! Silver Snakes and Orange Iguanas, you're not going away empty handed - we've got a nice gift for you, and here's what it is.

I think it's a good fanfic, but I'm having trouble believing the final outcome. Eight rooms traversed, and they still manage to get out of the temple with 53 seconds left? It just seems a little incredulous.

OK, maybe that's a bit much. I'll make it with about 30 seconds left.

Temple Run Summary:
One of the first truly great runs of the lost season of Legends. You could tell that Max knew from the word go what he needed to do - he must have watched the show before. He ran up into the Room of the Evil Clowns, hit two noses, and watched the Ledges door open. But, he knew not to go down there - he pressed the final one and ran into the Pit of the Podium. After opening the doors to the Kings Storeroom and the Chamber of the Sacred Markers, he chose to go up into the Kings Storeroom. It seemed to work for him. He then moved into the Treasure Room, where a temple guard was waiting, taking the Green Monkeys only pendant. No matter - he took the Treasure Chest down (one of only two people to have done this, I believe) into the Swamp, and then made his way into the Dark Forest. He blazed through the Forest, and smashed straight through the wall (watching on slow-motion, you could see a trees arms move just as he moved into the Quicksand Bog - so he dodged a temple spirit. Nice.) into the Quicksand Bog. He climbed up the ladder, hit the actuator, moved into the Shrine, got the Chart-Maps, ran across the top level and got out with 31 seconds remaining. He deserved his trip to the Bahamas.
