As some of you might know, I live in Tennessee, and as some of you may also have heard, a string of tornadoes hit the southeast United States last night. What I don't think you may realize is the severity of the storms--some people say it was the worst tornadic activity ever seen by the south in God knows how long. Over 100 people dead; thousands more without homes or power; millions of dollars in damage done. It's bad, folks...we only got power and internet service back a few hours ago on campus, even though Memphis wasn't directly hit by the storms. My mom and dad are thankfully alright, and our house is still standing, even though they have NO ELECTRICITY still, and numerous people in our community are also without power--or worse. Oh yeah, I've been hearing about that. It really is bad, Alabama especially got the worst of it. Seeing it on TV, I have never seen a tornado that big before. Glad you're okay, TBK.

Yeah, I heard about that too. I know everybody was making a big deal about a tornado warning up here in Maryland, but never would I imagine it would hit the southern states this hard. That's too bad, I am hoping there is not a lot of tragic deaths and they become fixed up as soon as possible.

Obviously I didn't hear as much about it, but I'm glad to hear you're at least okay, if nothing else. I really hope the whole region can at least make a speedy recovery as far as electricity and damage is concerned, but it's a shame for the lives that were taken...

I heard about the tornadoes from this side of the country. I didn't know it would be so severe. At least you're okay, though, but I hope everyone there can recover quickly..

The tornadoes that hit Joplin, Missouri are currently going through my home state of Ohio. This has made getting sleep very difficult and I'm surprised the power where I live hasn't gone out yet.
