Topics - The Purple Parrot

There are tons of episodes that would have been infinitely better if the Purple Parrots had won the temple games and went to the temple instead of the team that actually did. Here I will list those episodes and the reasons why.

Season 1:
The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart - So, the temple run in this episode sucks. Why!?!? Because the chubby girl takes up the whole three minutes in the temple and doesn't even reach the artifact! If I were her partner, I'd be extremely pissed. This is also one of those episodes I remember from my childhood. I was soooo disappointed when the Purple Parrots didn't make the temple and I know they would have done a better job.

Robin Hood & Marian's Ladder - If I had to rank all the vicories, this would be near the bottom. This was one of the easiest temple layouts EVER. The hardest task that this team had to do was walk on the wheel in the Wheel Room!    Not only do I hate it for that reason, but I also hated how smug that kid was when he was walking across the finish line. Now, if this was a Purple Parrots victory, I might feel differently about it because then it would have meant that the Purple Parrots scored a win in the first season, but... it didn't happen.

Season 2:
The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy - RIGGED! The Orange Iguanas unfairly won that last temple game, and this was yet another EASY temple win. Might I add that Paula is overrated!!! This was also the second of what seems to be countless tie-breaker losses for the Parrots.

The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba -  I couldn't believe that the Purple Parrots lost the final temple game. They had such a big lead and they blew it.  :(

Season 3:
The Marble Armrest of Xerxes - This temple run is pretty pathetic... True that the layout was unwinnable, but I'm 100% confident that the Purple Parrots of this episode would have done better than the Green Monkeys did (especially with the revelation that Levi on the Parrots was Zac from the Secret Map episode's brother). I also think it's funny that they greased the Pharaoh's Secret Passage so much that the Green Monkey kid couldn't even get his footing (this is the first episode someone tried to climb the slide after Zac did it the previous day). Once again, the Purple Parrots lost a tie breaker. :(

The Smashed Printing Plate of Fredrick Douglas - I don't care that the Purple Parrots got destroyed in the temple games, Jason sucked and Dana was singularly the most unlikable contestant ever on Legends. That's all I gotta say.

The Enormous Feather of the Me Linh - *sigh* Another tie breaker loss... I'm just assuming that the Purple Parrots in this episode would not have stood there like idiots in the Quicksand Bog.

The Lily-Crested Crown of Clovis I - We'll never know if the Purple Parrots would have had as much trouble in the Chamber of the Sacred Markers as Katie did...

Honorable Mentions:
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor - I would NEVER change the outcome of this episode, but I would have really liked to see this Parrots team in the temple.

The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud - This Orange Iguana team sucked, but if they didn't make it to the temple, we would have never seen the hilarity that was Jennifer yelling at her partner. <3

The Heart Room / The Crown of Queen Nzinga - an alternate route!?!?
« on: October 30, 2006, 05:59:30 AM »
I believe we're all farmiliar with the outcome of this temple run. In case you're not: Red Jaguars, artifact in Lightning Ball Room, Ben goes in first, temple gaurd in Laser Light Room, Removed in the Swamp, Renee goes in next, passes half pendant in Swamp, hesitates between Dark Forest and Swamp thinking if she should go back for it or not, but she doesn't, reaches hand into tree, temple spirit in tree ends run.

So that's that, right? Maybe not! :o  :o  However, there's also a chance that Medusa's Lair could've just been a dead end. I'm not sure.

This run was very peculiar to me. I have a theory that even if Renee tried to bust through the rock wall, it wouldn't have broken down... Cuz that would've been too easy, right? And the temple spirit was in the tree farthest away from the breakable wall. However, we'll never know... and we'll also never know if they could've gone upto Medusa's Lair.

So, someone else watch this temple run and tell me if i'm crazy or not cuz it really looks like the door to Medusa's Lair opened to me.

The Heart Room / Are the Purple Parrots truly the biggest losers?
« on: September 10, 2006, 04:30:21 PM »
Well, the Purple Parrots are widely known as the loser team. They made it to the temple the least of all 6 teams by a considerable margin. So, being the Purple Parrots fan that i am, i finally decided to look into this. So here's all the Episodes that Purple lost the temple games organized by season:

Season 1:
Elizabeth the I's Golden Ship (scored a 1/2 pendant
The Golden Cricket Cage of Kahn (scored 1 pendant)
The Lucky Pig of Amelia Earhart (scored a 1/2 pendant)
The Golden Cup of Belshazzar (scored a 1/2 pendant)
The Golden Chains of Zenobia (shut out)
The Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa (tie breaker loss)
Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder (shut out)

(Wow, look at all those "Golden" things! The only win on that list is Robin Hood and Marian's Ladder. The only unsuccessful grabbing is the Golden Jaguar of Atahualpa. The rest are losses....pretty pathetic losses too... I wonder if they would've been better if they were Parrot runs.)

Season 2:
The Silver Horseshoe of Butch Cassidy (tie breaker loss)
The Applewood Amulet of Emiliano Zapata (tie breaker loss)
The Diary of Dr. Livingstone (don't remember))
The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor (tie breaker loss)
The Crown of Queen Nzinga (scored a 1/2 pendant)
The Very Tall Turban of Ahmed Baba (scored 1 pendant)
The Golden Goblet of Atilla the Hun (tie breaker loss.... i think)
The Bonnet of Dolly Madison (don't remember)
The Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradamus (tie breaker loss)
The Priceless Portrait of the Polynesian Girl (scored a 1/2 pendant)

(Well.... that's pretty tragic for the Parrots. 5 of those are wins... look at all those tie breaker losses!  Not to mention all of those episodes are very exciting.... or at least noteworthy).

Season 3:
The Enormous Feather of the Me Linh (tie breaker loss)
The Good-Luck Watch of Empress Eugenie (shut out)
The Lilly-Crested Crown of Clovis I (don't remember)
The Lost Hornpipe of the Pirate Captain (scored 1 pendant)
The Lost Taj Mahal Turban of Aurangzeb (scored a 1/2 pendant)
The Marble Armrest of Xerxes (tie breaker loss)
The Melted Head of Madame Tussaud (scored a 1/2 pendant)
The Missing Portrait of Hans Holbein (shut out)
The Much-Heralded Helmet of Sir Gawain (scored 1 pendant)
The Smashed Printing Plate of Fredrick Douglas (shut out)

(Wow.... look at all those losses... it's really a shame considering they only went to the temple 2 times this season. The only instance that i'm glad the Parrots lost is for the Hornpipe episode. Those Green Monkeys were amazing.... and maybe for the Helmet episode.)

In total, the Purple Parrots lost 8 tie breakers (although it could be 7 because i can't remember if the Golden Goblet episode came down to a tie breaker or not).

As much as they lost, i stand by my Purple Parrots. I always loved them and always will. Sure it's frustrating being a Purple Parrot fan and knowing how close they were so many times, but you gotta stand by your team. :P

The Pit / Talking Stone Head on Big Brother

That's a link to a topic on the Survivor Sucks: Big Brother forum. Tonight on Big Brother there was competition involving a big ol' talkin stone head guy (he didn't really resemble Olmec.... but someone made that thread to be funny). People are posting in that thread that they were on the show. I figured that since the discussion in the King's Storeroom thread (which is where i could've sworn i posted this post.... TEMPLE GODS MESSING WITH ME!?!?!) was leaning towards Legends contestant testimonies, this was the apropriate place to put this link.... ya kno... if anyone has the balls/patience/time to track down the people who claim to have been on Legends. :P

The Heart Room / Favorite example of bad editting on the show?
« on: July 03, 2006, 07:04:53 PM »
Well, i believe the thread title explains the purpose of this thread.

Personally, i just love the bad editting and voice overs that occured on Legends constantly. One of my favorite examples happened in a season 1 episode (I don't remember which.... but it might've been "The Golden Cricket Cage of Kahn").  It was during a moat crossing. The Green Monkeys were going to be the 4th team to cross, but for some reason, they were disqualified!  Then, the purple parrots ring in 5th and are allowed to advance instead of the green monkeys. What's weird is that, when the green monkeys are running to hit the gong (as Kirk is announcing their d/q) only the boy player runs to hit it. Neither of the monkeys look very excited and their gong light doesn't turn on. Then it shows a bad shot of the parrots ringing in and their gong light turns on. Then is does a far shot where you can see all the teams and their gongs. The green gong is lit and the purple gong is not. They obviously made the green monkeys and the purple parrots redo hitting their gongs so that they could get the shots of their gongs lighting up... Pretty funny if you ask me.... and i really dunno why they green monkeys were d/q'd either... it's pretty unclear.

One more: In "the Mummified Hand of the Egyptian King" Afterthe Baracudas have won the final temple game, Maggie (the girl on the Blue team)'s harness is falling off of her (and it was falling off of her through the entire temple game). Then she steps in front of Kirk and her harness falls off once again and the camera does this weird shot of them and Kirk randomly says "NICE TEAMWORK GUYS!" or something lame like that. Obviously, Kirk did not say that during the original taping. Then in the next shot, Kirk says something stupid like "I should watch my mouth" or something like that.... If you watch the episode, you'll know what i mean. :P

So yeah... your turns.

We all know that Jennifer seemed to be a common name among temple running girls. So i wanna know who your favorite "Jennifer" is. :P

The Dark Forest / The Purple Parrot is here!
« on: June 30, 2006, 11:33:24 AM »
Yeah so i just signed up after stalking this forum for a few days. I recently got back into watching Legends of the Hidden Temple after searching youtube.com for old tv shows. Legends just happened to be one of the shows i searched for and i came across ''The Lucky Pillow of Annie Taylor'' episode. Gotta say, that is easily one of my favorite episodes (even if the purple parrots lose in the tie breaker... like they always do).

Anyways, yeah, i'm pretty obnoxious (but in a cute sorta fun way) so you'll probably notice me around. Legends was new when i was like 6,7, & 8 and i actually do remember a few episodes from all the way back then (King Tut's Cobra Staff and The Snakeskin Boots of Billy the Kidd in particular). It was really amazing once my parents decided to get DirecTV after finally begging them for years to see Legends and have all my memories come back to me in floods. I love the Purple Parrots, obviously.....even though they're the loser team.

Also, just thought i'd throw this out there, if anybody wants/needs more episode summaries for their website, i'd definitely be interested in writing them. I tend to notice a lot of things that i haven't seen in other summaries that i thought were important (or just plain cool/weird).

And now you know my entire legends life story.... sometimes i tend to type on and on and on.... oh well... see ya all around! :P
