Hey all, thought I'd give us Phantomgoers a place to vent our frustrations about contestant stupidity.

If you think that a contestant's stupidity reduced the quality of an episode, post about it here! :D

Heh, I liked how you used The Purple Parrot's idea about his least favorite parrot losses. As far as dumb players go, definitely the likes of Jon and Tia, Kim, Lisa, and Sabrina would be my pick. The show could have done A LOT better without them on the show. The producers who let those contestants on the show should have been fired.

Jason from The Broken Wing of Icarus and Jeremy from The Golden Spiderweb of Robert the Bruce stand out to me. They weren't uncompetitive, but Jason acted stupid in the temple and Jeremy acted stupid in his temple game followed by him passing the half pendant in the temple.

Possible theory: If you're a producer with high standards, you shouldn't make a game show.  Sometimes you need a bad episode or bad player to make the good ones more entertaining— without the contrast, they might be more boring, don't you think? ;)

That said, I still agree with all the choices so far except for Jason from "The Broken Wing of Icarus"— in his case, I think the Temple Run was made more exciting (he might not have been the best player by any stretch of the word, but it did bring things down to a few VERY tense last seconds).  Tony from "The Stone Head of the Evil King" is a good one that wasn't mentioned yet, although the team did fine prior to the Temple Run.  The team in "The Smashed Printing Plate of Frederick Douglass," on the other hand...

So sorry to offend people, but I have to call out a few of contestants for hot-dogging during their Temple Runs.

First off was Brandy from the Red Sash episode. She should have just bit the damn bullet and gotten caught in the Quicksand Bog, and not have distracted Quentin into having to complete the Secret Password objective and slide down the tunnel.

Secondly we have Nicholas from the Melted Head episode. He should have just gotten into the 2nd suit of armor and gotten caught so that Jennifer would have had more time.

Third, Irish from the Bent Shaving Pan episode is guilty of the same thing Nicholas did, but at least she tried the quick-step out to get away.

Good point. I'll give Jason credit for making it exciting.

One more that I can't believe I forgot. Hint: look at my avatar. ;)

What about Kimberly from The Broken Trident of Poseidon.  It's bad enough she thought she still needed to do the objective, but then she left the trident sitting there.

I think all the Kimberly's and Kim's deserve a mention in this thread.

First off, there is Kim from "John Henry's Lost Hammer" that didn't know how to press an actuator in the Pit. Out of 120 episodes in Legends, she was the only contestant that was not able to press an actuator.

Then there was Kim in "The Missing Weather Maps of Charles Lindbergh". She was so slow and all over the temple. She didn't even go down into the Dark Forest when she assembled the monkey. Way to bring shame to the Red Jaguars.

Then finally, we have Kimberley in "The Broken Trident of Poseidon" who made it all the way to the artifact without encountering temple guards, and still didn't manage to make it out of the temple in time. Talk about a waste of talent.

Has the girl that entered the temple from The Keys to the Alhambra been mentioned yet? She almost went back to the entrance! Talk about a clueless player.

How about Aquilla from the Golden Pepperoni of Catherine D'Medici, whenever I rewatch this episode on Youtube I want to yell "THE PEPPERONI IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, HOW DO YOU NOT SEE IT?!"
Guess what?

That's definitely one of the most notorious "brain farts" in the show's history.

Also, I'm surprised no one's mentioned Larry from "The Mysterious Manuscript of Mary Shelley". The guy was such an epic failure in the Shrine...
