Rate the Moat Crossing - Smashed Printing Plate/Sforza Day "Net and Vine"

So this is my first time actually starting a poll of my own. And I figure I'd start it by rating every moat crossing on each production day of the show. We're going by which filming day had what moat, instead of ranking the moats by episode. So with that being said, let's start with the Season 1, Layout 1 moat featuring "King Tut's Staff."

I personally give this moat an 8. I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I happen to really like this moat. Sure it might have been easy, but it was very creative for a first ever moat. It was MUCH better than the same tired "use a rope to get across" moat that half of Season 1 had. The only problem with this moat is some contestants did take their sweet time getting across sometimes. But you would see that with any moat. I honestly wish this moat was used often. Very creative and original.

I gave the very first moat a 7. This was quite possibly the best moat used in Season 1. It actually felt like a moat you would have in later seasons. Most of the Season 1 moats had a player swim across and tie a rope to a pole so their partners could cross. This moat was different though and more creative. It was a great idea for a moat, especially for the very first production day.

I usually give the polls around 24 hours before moving on. I notice some people like to make last second votes before updating the polls. I know we can't force people to participate in these polls, but all it takes is 3 seconds to cast a vote. That is all we ask for. I hope more people vote too because I think this is a good idea for a poll. We almost never talk about the moat crossings around here.

Anyway, I haven't seen all moats. I probably won't vote for all episodes. I have seen King Tut's moat crossing and it was good. I gave it a 7.

I don't think PPF is covering every individual moat, just the ones used on each production day. So we are rating S1L1's moat in general today, which was used in Belshazzar, Galileo, and Dead Man's Hand. I think you are rating Cobra Staff's moat, PP319. Don't worry, I thought that we were rating the Cobra Staff episode only until I saw S1L1 in the original post.

It might not be a bad idea to include the production day in the topic title too. Mostly because most of the Season 1 moats felt very similar. Also, we had production days like Enormous Iron Nose Ring and Polynesian Girl that used the same moats. And Imperial Wizard and Ruby Earring also had the same moat.

I gave the S1L2 moat a 5. The idea for this moat wasn't too bad, but it seemed like it caused too many problems on the production day it was used. First off, we had the cheating incident in the Lost Hammer moat. Secondly, this moat was pretty long in a couple of episodes like Golden Cricket Cage and Golden Ship. And speaking of the cheating incident, did Kirk ever tell the contestants that they couldn't touch the boards? I don't remember. Either way, this moat had too many things wrong with it.

I personally gave this moat a 7. Like the King Tut's Staff moat, this was a very clever concept, even for early Season 1 standards. And I liked the whole using a boogie board to get across, all while using a rope above to guide you. It was MUCH easier than say, the S1L7 moat where you have to entirely rely on upper body strength, which most players seem to very obviously lack. However, it was at this point where it was starting to cross the line into the "using an above rope to across" method. You could definitely feel it coming, even with this moat. Too bad this moat wasn't used often, AND that it was taped on a terrible production day. And one of the teams got disqualified to boot. Either way, I really like this moat.

I upped the vote to a 5 even though I gave it a 3. Mostly because it was more creative than most of the moats in Season 1. But still, the problems I mentioned earlier prevented it from getting a good score. Tomorrow's moat is going to be interesting because it had to be one of the most blandest moats on the show.
