Good observation, I forgot to mention in the other topic about how the sound effects can be heard live in the studio. I know we talked about for years whether the sounds effects could be heard live during the temple runs or added later on. This video confirms that most sound effects were present during the temple runs. This makes me wonder about the Dark Forest-Shrine door in the Snow Cone run. When Heather forces the door open, you can hear the door opening chime. But the cabinet door leading to the Shrine was still locked. Was the door supposed to open and Heather just messed up the mechanism by forcing it open? Or was the door chime a production error?

Recently, there was a video uploaded to Youtube by one of the producers of the show, David Greenfield. The video shows some of the behind-the-moments during the filming of Season 3, like the belly sliding moat used during the Royal Torque filming day, the rock throwing team game, and even the entire taping of "The Mussel-Shell Armor of Apanuugpak" episode! This video was a pleasant surprise to me because we never really got any behind-the-scenes videos of the actual taping of the show. The temple run taping was definitely the most interesting part of the video and I recommend watching that part of the video at least. Watching Amanda and Gator run through the temple from the studio perspective is totally different from the final product. First off, you don't hear all the cheering like in the final edit. The temple run almost feels lifeless from this perspective. Another note is it looks like Kirk watches the kids on a TV screen while inside they are inside the temple. Makes sense considering it would be hard for him to commentate on their performance on the farther sides of the temple. I would love to see a behind-the-scenes video for Season 1 considering how chaotic filming this Season was.

Yeah, it looks like Quibi will be shutting down after only 6 months of operation. Not sure what that means for the Legends reboot and whether it will be canned or picked up by a different network.

Also I just got told to quarantine.

Were you exposed to someone infected by COVID-19? I know I was exposed two different times and was forced to quarantine and get tested. Fortunately, both times I tested negative and had no symptoms. I hope all is well on your end. It's starting to get ugly again out there.

The Heart Room / Re: Ranking Every Temple Run (Original Series)

Personally, I feel that team wins should hold more weight than solo wins. While solo wins are an impressive feat, these temple runners have a slight benefit of not having to worry about their partners retracing their steps. With team wins, the second player loses time retracing their partners steps. And not all temple wins had the chance at a solo win either - Lost Hornpipe, Galileo, Lost Gold Mine, Levitating Dog Leash, and Metal Beard all had temple layouts where solo wins were not possible.

So what should I do?

My suggestion would be to switch the number of points awarded for solo and teams wins. Not to say that solo wins were weaker, but most of the time they had a more favorable path than team wins. And sometimes solo wins were a result of smart temple planning like Sir Gawain, Lucky Medallion, and Sultan Saladin. But some temple runs don't have the option of solo chance either. But these are your rankings at the end of the day, so you can make a ranking system that you feel that's best.

Quote
There are runs that were also meant to be solo wins mostly (as long as runner enter the right starting room I guess) most notably Chandragupta. Also I feel Shaka Zulu should not receive as much points as they did because of the error allowing them so much time at the end.

I think some solo wins are well-earned and are a result of smart contestants making good choices in the temple. Solo wins like Sultan Saladin, Freydis, Lucky Medallion, Chandragupta, and Sultan Saladin are not undeserving in anyway. But then you have runs like Ahmed Baba, Butch Cassidy, Roland, Geronimo, and Shaka Zulu that were very generous layouts and it seems kind of unfair rewarding them with more points.

I don't think the Blue Barracudas would've done better than Leah and Matthew. Unless they took the shorter routes like entering the Chamber from the Pit and trying the Shrine shortcut. Leah and Matthew did a solid job aside from not taking the most direct paths. Even if they did, I doubt they would've won. Definitely a pretty cruel temple layout.

I forgot how strong the Purple Parrots were in the Lily-Crested Crown episode. First in the moat, first in the SOK, and a very close temple game performance. Even though the Orange Iguanas won 2 Pendants, the temple games were very close with a score of 2-1.5. Would've been nice to see a 2-2 tiebreaker. Katie and Judge sucked in the temple too. Katie was moving pretty fast in the beginning, but the Chamber objective really stumped her. Not sure which was worse - Katie's performance in the Chamber of Tony's performance in Medusa's Lair from the Stone Head run? I might give the edge to Katie because at least Tony has sort of an excuse with four snakes Medusa. Judge was a lousy second runner and couldn't even add progress. Like most Orange-Purple episodes, this episode would've been better if the Purple Parrots went to the temple.

Fortunately, tomorrow's team will be a real treat.

Wow, the SOK losing Red Jaguars had more points than the Green Monkeys?

Anyways, this temple run was one of the biggest waste of potential on this show. Kimberly and Tony had a very strong pre-temple performance. Only for Kimberly to mess it up... big time. Its amazing how she could mess up that badly with the Trident drop. She was doing pretty good before reaching the artifact. Although that layout was very easy. I guess we shouldn't expect much from a contestant named Kim in the temple.

What a coincidence, I just watched the Red Sash episode the other day. :mrblue: I know in the past I use to give Brandy and Quentin a hard time, but after rewatching this temple run this team had a hard layout. In fact, it was almost on same level as Missing Portrait. It didn't help that both players completed objectives they didn't need to. Brandy could've bypassed the Shrine and Quentin could've avoided Secret Password. Despite the mistakes, they were so close to reaching it. Too bad they weren't allowed access to Shrine shortcut. Very exciting run and I feel this was a solid team.

Yeah, Karisa and David barely scraped by each round. People give the Butch Cassidy kids crap for scraping by, but at least Paula and Matt were competitive and Paula was good in the temple despite the easy win. To this day, the Enormous Feather temple loss still pisses me off. Mostly thanks to Karisa. Its a wonder how Karisa reached the artifact at all. Mostly because David cleared the bottom floor in under a minute.  Travis and Elisa would've smoked this layout. To me, this is the worst failed escape on the show. Although Cheater Ron from Anne Bonny is not too far behind.

What a pitiful production day. The highest ranking temple team with 80 points?

No surprise to see the Snow Cone team rank low. I thought they would be the lowest ranking team this day, but second best team? Although that doesn't say much since they beat the two lower ranking teams by only 3 points. This was a terrible team and they couldn't even get past the Dark Forest. That's deplorable for S3 standards. One of the worst episodes ever and the entire episode is a joke.

No surprise to see Upside-Down Compass rank the highest, although I thought they would rank higher since they were strong pre-temple rounds. The temple layout was pretty tough, but both players moved too slow. A good team like Pirate Captain would've won. Easily best team this day.

Jedediah Smith team sucked and I was never impressed by them. Irish moved slower than Brittany and Damien from Lost Whale Bome, but gets nothing but sympathy. It should not take 2:30 to reach the Ancient Warriors using a shortcut. Brian sucked as a second runner and should'e made it to Room of Ancient Warriors at least where Irish left off.  :afro:

So it looks like the Purple Parrots from Marble Armrest ranked higher than the Green Monkeys. I think the same thing happened when I ranked both teams a long time ago. To this day, I'm still pissed Levi and Candace didn't go to the temple. He was a beast in this episode! Candace was so close to winning her individual game, but lost by one step in the sinking poll game. Green Monkeys sucked in the temple. The layout was very hard, but the Purple Parrots probably would've made it to the top floor.

So it really looks like the Purple Parrots in Snakeskin Boots were the best team of Season 2 aka PP Pwnage. Also interesting how every single winning team finished Top 10 overall as well. I'm kind of surprised the Butch Cassidy team ranked high, but they did sweep the Steps of Knowledge and Paula did a fine job in the temple. I don't like this win, but they definitely earned it.

The Bifocal Monocle episode is trash too. I'm not surprised to see these losers rank low. The barely scraped by the whole episode. Although that Red Jaguars team was super bad as well. The Red Jaguars boy failed so bad at the trampoline individual game. I remember the Teen Nick aired this episode along with Great Seal and Attila the Hun back in the early 2010's. Let's just say this episode was a very poor choice and probably the reason they didn't show more episodes.  :afro:

The Heart Room / Re: Possible Alternative Routes
« on: August 20, 2020, 09:55:49 PM »
I rewatched the War Fan run on Youtube and none of the doors leading to the King' Storeroom opened. Some people on Youtube think the last guard was in the Ledges, making a double entrance temple guard encounter. I really doubt the temple guard was in the Ledges, although it's not impossible since the Sforza run had temple guards in both entrance rooms.

I want to say the last temple guard was hiding in the Dark Forest in the War Fan run. The only unentered rooms in that layout was the Ledges, Jester's Court (locked), and Dark Forest. I doubt the last guard was in the Ledges since they rarely put 2 temple guards in both entrance rooms except for "Sforza". The other guard could've been in the Ancient Warriors too similar to Discarded Seal and Chandragupta also. But with 1 Pendant, that would've been really cheap. Do we ever get a shot of the Dark Forest in the War Fan run? Sometimes you can see a tree limb raised if a Temple Spirit is in the Dark Forest.

The Heart Room / Re: Ways to Improve Losing Temple Runs
« on: August 17, 2020, 06:52:17 PM »
I love the list you posted, TSM. I agree with everything you said in your post too. For temple runs like Lost Lion Tail, Golden Cricket Cage, and Xerxes those temple teams were so bad that they were doomed to fail no matter how much you try to correct them. In those episodes, the losing temple team should've gone to the temple.

Word on the Nathan Hale suggestion. I definitely think the Silver Snakes got screwed in the "Attack Philadelphia" game. No where in the rules did it mention that the players had to have to word in exact orientation. Although Christina still was a big failure for not finding the most obvious half-pendant that both Kirk and James pointed out. I think James should've gone to the temple second though. He would've found the half-pendant AND was faster than Christina. Even if Christina found the half-pendant, they would've still lost due to her being so slow.

I agree that Lucky Pig would've been a solo run if the team started in the Cave of Sighs and took Kristen's exact path. This layout was pretty long, but a competent player should've been able to grab the artifact. After all, Kristen came up one room short despite being slow and clueless. Scott should've gone in first and started in the Cave of Sighs for a solo run.

Here are a few more:

Gordian Knot - Send Retina into the temple first and have her get removed in the Tomb of the Ancient Kings. She really wasn't a bad player aside from taking the Well elevator. If she went into the temple first, she should've been removed with about 2 minutes left. Tim was definitely faster than Retina and hopefully he tries to take the Shrine shortcut.

Joan of Arc - Same strategy as Gordian Knot. Send Mandy into the Room of Three Gargoyles and have her removed in the Room of Harmonic Convergence. Speedy Eddy would follow-up on her path and maybe grab the artifact.

Harriet Tubman - Send Ryann into the temple first. She could actually start in the Crypt if she wanted to and get removed early in the temple. And Chris would've hopefully found the half-pendant and score a win. This didn't look like a hard temple layout considering the Dark Forest door was already open for them. The other solution would be for Ryann to actually follow her partner's path.  :afro:

Egyptian King - Have Josh enter into the temple first and have him take the King's Storeroom from the Pit. Josh probably wouldn't have dropped his Pendant of Life AND would've completed his rooms faster. After getting removed in the Room of the Ancient Warriors. Kerry should have enough time to grab the artifact and possibly win.
