If Legends was renewed for a fourth season in 1996?
« on: April 25, 2007, 03:58:10 PM »
What do you think would've happened if a fourth season started up right after the third one? Would it be a lot like Season 3 in your opinion? How might it have been diffrent?

My guess is it would've featured the same Temple Layout for all 40 episodes, like Season 3 did.  It's possible that it would've been a different layout from Season 3, but I honestly don't know, because it seemed like they were bent on keeping that as a common layout.

I think they would've left Olmec essentially the same, except the colored lights might've been a little different from the usual Season 3 look.  I hope the voice would've stayed the same, because I thought his Season 3 voice was the best, although I wish they could've come up with a more creative intro, you know?

I think they'd probably keep some of the same Temple Games: "knock down soldiers," "spider web and cubbyholes," etc.  Hopefully most of the third Temple Games would've put a lot of emphasis on teamwork (much unlike in the first season of the show).

And as for the set itself: plants, plants and more plants.  It seems like they'd always be adding more plant life onto the set every season.

Your turn!

This seems better suited to a Treasure Room discussion since it discusses potential events on the show, not those that have already happened. I'll move it over there for you.

I think they would probably keep the one-layout dynamic  and replace nearly all the rooms except for the Shrine, because that's become such a symbol of the show. Maybe the Dark Forest would stay as well. The temple games would be just as big as Season 3, and I'm sure they'd reuse most of the equipment for them.

Hm... I don't know what else to say. I'll keep thinking about it. Good question.

Oh, thanks for moving this.  I thought I saw a topic in the Heart Room discussing what would happen if the show was revived, so I thought this would fit there along with it.

Well, it's possible; the mods aren't always fool-proof the first time around.

Thinking harder about the next season, I'm sure they'd add even more foliage and more blue lighting which seems to simulate a jungle at night extraordinarily well. They'd also have to find another way to introduce Fogg to the show, as well as create a brand new intro for the show (they hardly tried going between S2 and 3).

They'd probably replace the Chamber of the Sacred Markers with something a little less time-consuming and more entertaining for the audience. I hope they'd keep the wall in front of the ladder that the Temple Guard pops from behind.

Also, I'd like to see them add the ladders back to the Jester's Court just to add some spice to the layout settings.

I could see them keeping the Shrine, the Crypt, the Ledges, the Room of the Secret Password, the King's Storeroom, the Quicksand Bog and the Dark Forest.

They would probably get a new Pit as well as replace the Tomb of the Headless Kings.

As for the artifacts themselves, I'm sure the story that accompanied them would have some of that hysterical humor they had in season three.[/sarcasm]

I can definitely see them keeping most of the Temple Games. The one I would hope they got rid of would have been the one where the partners are linked by a chain and have to maneuver through a maze. That game always drove me crazy when I watched it, mostly because it was so boring to watch.

The moat crossings would probably change as well, since they seemed to get new ones every season.

New top-right, bottom-left, and upper-left rooms, Shrine kept, new swamp/court room, new room replacing the Throne, possibly new observatory objective.  My idea would be to have them look through the telescope, and adjust the zoom so they can read a passage written in the rafters.  Dark Forest tree arms extended, if not new room.  No elevator in the bottom-left.  New pit theme, possibly with guards.

Basic Changes: I think that Olmec would get new or extra lighting, maybe red or vermilion, and the set would look more aged. The "faces" on the columns beside the central shaft would be almost unrecgonizable, and parts of the small walls (like at the front of the Pit area) would be crumbled, representing age. Also, in S3, during the temple games explanation, the music would start in the middle of the track. I think they would make it like S2 again, where the Olmec's Advice track starts at its begining.

Opening Changes: I think that the camera would still move through the jungle, maybe some new wildlife sounds, rushing water sounds, and the viewpoint of Olmec when he comes into view would be different. They would have to make a new Kirk entrance, and the opening would still be pre-recorded.

Set Changes: More foilage, possibly a waterfall emptying out into the Moat and its other end carrying out the set in a stream. Some more plants near the moat. The gongs I think should be slightly mossed and their gold color should be slightly faded. The small smiling face should be removed from Olmec, it looks kind of dumb. The moat could have a deeper shade of blue, and the fog would still be there.

Temple Changes: I see them making rooms darker and possibly putting in more mist or disorienting features. I think that they would keep the Crypt, but replace or repaint the Ledges. They would keep the Pit of the Pendulum, The King's Storeroom, The Room of the Ancient Warriors, The Shrine, The Quicksand Bog, and the Tomb of the Headless Kings. They would probably get a new room for the bottom-third area, but it would have an objective besides hitting an actuator. The Dark Forest would be changed to something else--they've already had it for six layouts. The Room of the Secret Password could be changed to something else, ditto for the Chamber of the Sacred Markers.

Well, those are my thoughts.

If it did get a fourth season, Olmec would be take over everything--leaving Kirk talk as the kids are going through the temple.
