[02:52] PhantomBPR: I can't say I ever paid too much attention to it
[02:53] PhantomBPR: it couldn't possibly have anything to do with oranges right?
[02:53] PhantomBPR: that would be TOO obvious right?
[02:53] Renegade Pancake: cant be.
[02:53] Renegade Pancake: i think its a monkey.
[02:53] PhantomBPR: I'll have to look into it
[02:53] PhantomBPR: never really thought about it before
[02:53] Renegade Pancake: i mean
[02:54] Renegade Pancake: Shrine of the Silver MONKEY
[02:54] Renegade Pancake: Mandarin IS a kind of monkey
[02:54] PhantomBPR: it's not that out there
[02:54] PhantomBPR: it is possible

Mandarin is a kind of duck, not a kind of monkey.  It is also a kind of orange, and the most widely spoken language in the world... I was in the Geography Bee...

Hm... Well, of course, there's the Mandarin Chinese language, as well as a Chinese Bureaucrat. Wikipedia also suggests that "In the West, the term "Mandarin" is associated with the concept of the scholar-official, who immersed himself in poetry, literature, and Confucian learning in addition to performing civil service duties." ...which sounds like the closest thing...

I thought it had to do with a giant hand around a mandarin orange.

... The hand isn't holding an orange... It's holding a globe.

Just a suggestion.

What else would a round thing held up by a hand be?

I've always referred to it as an "orb" or a "globe." Those are the only two things I think it could possibly be.

No.  All Olmec ever said was, "You could go up into the Room of the Mandarin Hand, or into the Jester's Court."

What did Kirk say? I know anything he says can't be pinned for reliability, but it might reveal something...

I remember Kirk saying "push the fingers up against the globe" in the Levitating Dog Leash of Nostradomus.
