Yeah, Oracle Bowl is definitely not on Lost Lion Tail level. Just the temple run was bad, thanks to Jackie. Other than that, it was a pretty exciting episode, and Shane and Jackie dominated all the pre temple rounds. I'm expecting it to rank around mid-high 5 range. And Taj Mahal Turban was an average episode. I expect it to make at least a 6 average.

It's kind of funny though that it took the Purple Parrots literally half of the season to get to the temple. They were really unlucky when it came to the first season of the temple. They had plenty of shots before Oracle Bowl - Belshazzar, Golden Ship, Amelia Earhart, and Golden Cricket Cage. And all those temple game losses were 1.5 pendant losses too, so it's not like they were dominated. I think Oracle Bowl was the first time I ever seen a Purple Parrot episode. At least the first one I can recall from the Nickelodeon days. But yeah, Shane and Jackie were very good before the temple run. First in the moat, first in the Steps, won their individual games and won two pendants. I sort of think they get a bad reputation sometimes because of how the temple run turned out. I mean Jackie deserves the criticism she gets, but they weren't some team that scraped by the whole episode.

And Taj Mahal Turban is that one episode that I always forget exists. I even forget that the Purple Parrots lost in this episode too. And I know all of the Purple Parrot temple game losses. :P

Yeah, and some of those episodes (Amelia Earhart, Cricket Cage) would've turned out MUCH better if Purple had won instead. But then again, the Blue Barracudas didn't even have a temple games (let alone temple run) appearance until Mysterious Manuscript. Which was the fifth filming day of Season 3. And Kate and Larry also dominated every round to get to the temple, and also had a sub par temple run. So it's not like it happened to just the Purple Parrots. The Taj Mahal Turban kids however, sort of scraped by each round, but they were still an okay team in the temple. Either way, I'll try to have my review of Oracle Bowl up by tomorrow. ;)

By the way, you got the 11,000th post in the Heart Room. :mrred:

And here it is, my episode review on "The Oracle Bowl of Delphi." :mrpurple:

THE ORACLE BOWL OF DELPHI

MOAT: 7/10

For this moat, the players had to sit in a floating ring and pull themselves across with a rope. Once across, the players had to throw the ring back to their partner, who would cross in the same way. This was a very close round. Very neck and neck, like any one of these teams could have advanced. In the end, the Purple Parrots, Orange Iguanas, Green Monkeys, and Silver Snakes advanced to the Steps of Knowledge.

LEGEND: 6/10

The legend revolved around Croesus, who was a very rich and powerful king in Lydia. Despite all the money he had, he was unhappy. He thought that if he could conquer Persia, he'd be the richest and most powerful man in the world, and would be very happy with that. Before attacking the Persians, he decided to ask a fortune teller in the Temple of Delphi, to see if he was making the right decision. The fortune teller sat in a three legged bowl, and predicted that a great empire will be destroyed if the King attacks the Persians. Croesus then went house and attacked Persia, a 14 day battle that he lost. He ended a up destroying his own empire. Years later, the Temple of Delphi was abandoned and everything inside the temple was lost. While this was an interesting legend, I felt like the artifact had too much to do with the fortune teller than it did with Croesus. The legend centered around Croesus quite a bit, but very little was mentioned about the Temple of Delphi besides Croesus' visit there. And like most Season 1 legends, the legend was a tad short. I would've given this legend a much higher ranking if it wasn't for that.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 6/10

The Steps of Knowledge were an average round. Shane of the Purple Parrots answered all the questions for his team, and are the first team to make it to the final step. Likewise, Mike of the Silver Snakes answered all the questions for his team, and joined the Purple Parrots soon after. The Green Monkeys and the Orange Iguanas each got one question correct.

TEMPLE GAMES: 7/10

Like the Steps of Knowledge, the temple games were average for the most part. In the first game, Shane and Mike had to push a rock up a watery ramp, with their backs turned, in an attempt to rebuild the Temple of Delphi. Shane was a BEAST in this game, and finished the game with 32 seconds left on the clock. At the end of the game, Kirk asked how Shane did it so fast, to which Shane cited his "strong legs" helped him win the game. In the second game, Jackie and Jamie had to place jewel eyes on the statues of each corner of the soapy field. Both players struggled immensely in this game, and Jamie especially had a difficult time. Jackie got at least one jewel on a statue, so naturally won the game, completing a full pendant for her team. Before the final game, the Purple Parrots were leading the Silver Snakes 1-0 pendant wise. In the third game, the players had to put rings on a poll, using the same tired up and down pulley game in Season 1. At the end of the game, both teams had 5 rings on their polls, giving both teams the full pendant. But, this gave Purple Parrots 2 full pendants, beating the Silver Snakes 2-1, and earning them a trip to the temple! The Purple Parrots dominated the temple games, and earned a much needed temple appearance. The only problem with this round is that all three games were very one sided. It was obvious who was gonna win each game, which brought the score down a bit for me. But all in all, it was a decent round.

TEMPLE RUN: 3/10

After dominating all the pre temple rounds, the temple run was very disappointing and frustrating. All thanks to Jackie. Shane went in first and was extremely fast. He did make one mistake though, by taking a direct path to the Observatory. He met a double whammy, running into a temple guard in the Gargoyle Room, and a dead end. This didn't stop Shane though, as he sped through the bottom floor of the temple, being removed in the Swamp with 2:05 left on the clock. Jackie unfortunately, was exactly the opposite of Shane. She was very slow and had no idea what to do in any of the rooms she entered. First, she detoured into the Gargoyle Room, when all she had to do was go straight into the Cave. She then takes her sweet time finding her way out of the Cave, and proceeds to move sluggishly across the whole bottom floor. In the Tomb, she finds the key to ascend into the Shrine, but doesn't use it. And on top of that, she pulls a "Kristen" and doesn't even break down the wall hard enough at first. Once in the Dungeon, she doesn't even use the ladder leading up to the Shrine. She spend the rest of the 40 seconds of her run not knowing the Pirate's Cove/Torch Room objective. Though even Kirk doesn't know what to do there either, even further confusing Jackie. Something I always found rather humorous honestly. Once she finally gets the objective, time runs out. Yet another example of "smart player being paired up with a slow witted player," and another temple run that should've been reverse order of players. If Shane had gone in second, the team would've had a much better chance at reaching the Bowl. But with Jackie as his partner, I doubt they would've won.

FINAL VERDICT: 5.8/10

Overall, Oracle Bowl was a pretty average episode. The Purple Parrots dominated all the pre temple rounds, only to have a sub par temple run thanks to Jackie. The temple run really brings down the final score, hence why this episode doesn't quite make a 6 average. If it's any consolation, at least the Purple Parrots finally make it to the temple. Unfortunately, the temple run is one of the many reasons everyone considers the Purple Parrots "The Loser Team." I still recommend this episode, but watch the temple run at your own risk. Warning: It's very frustrating.

Oracle Bowl is one of those episodes that was decent up until the temple run. Unfortunately for this episode though, the temple run is very bad and drags this episode score down a lot. This episode is very memorable for me though at least. First off, it was the first time the Purple Parrots went to the temple.  :mrpurple:  And they actually did a good job in getting there too. First in the moat, first in the Steps, and they won two pendants in the temple games. As for the legend, I hate it when the legend tells a story and it doesn't really have anything to do with the historical figure it is about. Like in the Jeweled Necklace legend, the whole story was about Hernan Cortez rather than Montezuma. In this case, the artifact had nothing to do with Delphi or Croesus. I remember the Steps of Knowledge round too. I am pretty sure the Silver Snakes boy almost fell a couple of times.

The temple games were good too. I remember the Purple Parrot players interests. Shane was a baseball player and Jackie liked horror stories. I remember Shane dominating his temple game too. Which wasn't an easy temple game at all either because a lot of contestants struggled in the game where the player had to push the block up the slope. Jackie won her game too, putting the Purple Parrots up 1-0. Luckily the Parrots tied their team game though or else they would've had a 1-1 tiebreaker. And you know how unlucky they were in the tiebreaker. :P

After having a decent episode... we get a huge abomination of a temple run. Shane was an amazing frontrunner, but he shouldn't have tried for the direct path. If he didn't do that, he would've been taken out deeper in the temple and removed in the Shrine or Treasure Room. I guess. Jackie was pathetic though. She had no idea what she was doing at all. She spent a long time getting out of the Cave of Sighs and SLOWLY makes her way to the Dungeon. And just like Kristen (Amelia Earhart), she doesn't even know where the breakable wall is. I am glad that you mention how Kirk was confused in the Pirate's Cove though because it took him a good 15 seconds to figure it out. So I don't blame Jackie for all the time she wasted there. But still, that doesn't excuse the rest of her poor performance. This run is the perfect example on why the slow runner should never go in second. Jackie was a shame to the Purple Parrots and probably their worst player. Although Claude is slightly worse overall.

Good review and I think we nailed that the temple run would drag this episode down a lot. If it wasn't for the temple run, then this episode would've ranked in the 6 range. At least this episode wasn't Lost Lion Tail bad.  Other than that, we only have two more Purple Parrot runs to cover - Blackfeet Chief and Freydis.  :mrpurple: For me, I am going to post Lost Taj Mahal Turban in the next couple days.

The Silver Snake boy liked baseball, (if that), NOT Shane. Shane was the one who liked dolphins and wanted to be a marine biologist. Jackie liked to read teen magazines with Jeremy Jordan in it, nothing to do with horror stories at all. ;) But yeah, I knew it wouldn't rank Lost Lion Tail bad. We also haven't covered Metal Beard either, I'll probably do that one somewhere down the line.

Good luck with Taj Mahal Turban too. There's really nothing special about that episode really.

I am guessing that it was Eusinia from Cobra Staff that read the horror stories then. :P I know it was a Purple Parrot girl from S1 that read horror stories. I think Freydis though will rank very high, like close to Annie Taylor and Catherine the Great.  :mrpurple:

But yeah, there is nothing special about Lost Taj Mahal Turban. Although I don't mind this episode too much though and haven't had any problems reviewing it so far. It was not as boring as I expected to be. I am really interested in ranking Blackbeard soon though. Now that is an episode that might rank as low as Bifocal Monocle and Alhambra.

And with Oracle Bowl complete, we only have 50 episodes left.  :mrpurple: Luckily most of the uncovered episodes aren't too bad. There are some cringeworthy episodes left like Silk Sash, Lily-Crested Crown, Blackbeard, and Lost Logbooks. But the rest of the episodes are decent or average at least.

Yeah, Blackbeard is definitely gonna rank low. I swear, that had to be one of the most poorly edited episodes ever. And of course the temple run was just pitiful. And good for us for having 50 episodes left to review too. :mrred: To think, when you revived this thread three months ago, only a mere 15 episodes were reviewed. Then I came along and made even more progress to this thread. :P We do have some mediocre/bad episodes left to review. But then again, we have a lot of exciting episodes and wins we haven't reviewed yet.

You helped me out a lot.  :mrred: I wouldn't even be half-way done if it wasn't for your help and feedback. Has it really been 3 months now? 50 episodes seems like a lot, but it is not that bad once I knock out all of the episodes I have already claimed. I am not claiming any new ones until I am done with the ones I have claimed. The only exception though is Blackbeard, which I am ranking because I want to see how bad it ranked. And you are right about Blackbeard being poorly edited. In fact, it had to be the worst edited episode on the show. I could name so many things wrong with it. Bad shots in the moat, no figure in the legend, the Steps of Knowledge music ends before it is over, bad temple run camera shots, and then the ending has no credits. I guess it was the first episode ever edited? Hence the reason why it is Episode #1. It is definitely not the first episode produced though because it is more professionally done then Belshazzar, Galileo, and Dead Man's Hand.

Yeah, it's been at least three months since you revived this thread. And of course I stepped in, and the rest is history. :mrpurple: We also haven't covered Galileo or John Sutter yet. If you want them, you can have them. Since you did rank Lawrence of Arabia after all. ;) And yeah, Blackbeard had to have been the first episode edited, but NOT the first episode ever recorded like some people like to claim. Though the Steps of Knowledge music ending early happened a lot in early Season 1, not just in Blackbeard. Plus, remember one of the contestants scratching their butt during the moat? And like you, I'm also not claiming anymore episodes until I finish the ones I highlighted in the OP. Though I thought you already claimed Backbeard?

I think I am going to do something special with Galileo or Map to the Lost Gold Mine. Like I did with Lawrence of Arabia, I might save one of those two episodes to be the very last episode reviewed. Both episodes are amazing and I don't know which one I will choose yet. Galileo is probably more fitting since it was the very first temple run AND win on the show (Belshazzar does not count since the temple run was postponed). But Lost Gold Mine was pretty close also and I might save that one for last.  :mrblue: I am not sure yet, but one of those two will be last. I am leaning towards Lost Gold Mine though. ;)

And I forgot to claim Blackbeard, so I am going to add that to the list. I am definitely doing Lost Taj Mahal Turban next. After that one, I have Broken Trident claimed. I am not sure if I am doing to do that one or Blackbeard. I might do Blackbeard just to see how crappy that ranks.  :mrred: I like how almost all of the uncovered runs are either Silver Snakes or Red Jaguar episodes. :o I know we covered a lot of Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys. I see that you claimed the oh so boring Ahmed Baba, so that will be the last Green Monkeys win needed to cover.   I am going to do a special statistic for all the team wins when they are all ranked. ;)

I finally finished my Lost Taj Mahal Turban review. It was actually not a bad episode and I have no problems with it at all. Except for the legend. Other than that, this episode is pretty good.

THE LOST TAJ MAHAL TURBAN OF AURANGZEB

MOAT:  8/10

In front of the six teams was a giant lilypad and vines hanging from the ceiling. Both players had to mount themselves onto the lilypad and pull themselves across with the use of the vines. Both teams had to stay on their lilypads together though and once both players reach the other side, then they can hit their gongs to go onto the next round. I liked the idea used for this moat, and it placed emphasis on team work. The moat crossing went by pretty fast too, so it didn't drag on with the last team getting across. The Purple Parrots made it across first, the Silver Snakes second, Blue Barracudas third, and the Green Monkeys were the last ones to clock in.

LEGEND: 3/10

One of the most fearful emperors of them all was the Indian Emperor, Aurangzeb. He did away with his two brothers to become heir to the throne and locked his father away for 15 years. Legend has it that Aurangzeb had a soft spot for the Taj Mahal, which was built by his father for his mother. He embroidered the building onto his favorite turban, in which he wore it everyday. One day, Aurangzeb was looking around his room for his missing Taj Mahal Turban, but it was no where to be found. Just then, the evil Grand Bazaar Needmore Rupees appeared. Needmore Rupees suggested that Aurangzeb get another turban made, but he only wanted his Taj Mahal Turban. Just then, a young woman appears at the door named Irene of Genie appeared at the door and stated that Needmore Rupees stole the Taj Mahal Turban and sold it to a collector, along with other prized possessions belonging to Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb got his Taj Mahal Turban back and appointed Irene to the title of Grand Bazaar. The Lost Taj Mahal Turban eventually made its way to the temple.

This episode featured a pretty ridiculous legend. The plot was full of nonsense and the voice acting and characters were lame and made-up. The legend started out interesting with it talking about Aurangzeb being ruthless, but then it just got plain silly. The name Needmore Rupees is obviously fake and sounds absurd. Irene of Genie was also pretty lame, and I doubt they had CPA's back during those times. The voice acting was lame too, and this story was just ridiculous.

STEPS OF KNOWLEDGE: 9/10

After having a pretty crappy legend, we get a close and competitive Steps of Knowledge round. I don't mind Steps of Knowledge rounds where a lot of questions are asked and they are all correct answer. If you can tell from the picture, all four teams were very close to the bottom step. And none of the answers they gave out had a wrong answer either. The Purple Parrots made it down to the bottom first, while the Green Monkeys answered their last two correctly to move onto the temple games.

TEMPLE GAMES: 6/10

The temple games featured Chrystine, who liked to play football and wanted to be a novelist, and her partner Dean, who liked to play baseball of the Green Monkeys. Their rival team included Jennifer, who wanted to be a pediatrician one day, and her partner Chad, who liked the play baseball and own a team one day for the Purple Parrots. Nothing much to say about this temple games round, except that one player from each team won their individual games, while the Green Monkeys won the team game. The temple games also featured some of the most common ones from S3. Other than that, I have nothing else to say here.

Temple Game #1 - Defend the Royal Guards

In the first temple game, Dean and Chad had to protect their Royal Guards from being knocked down by their opponent. Behind each guy were four Royal Guards. There were two giant boulders on the field and each player had to take their boulder and knock down their opponent's Guards. At the same time though, they had to protect their own Guards from being knocked over by their opponent. The team that knocks down all four guards or the team with the most knocked down guards after 60 seconds will win. In the end, the Purple Parrots win with a score 2-1.

Temple Game #2 - Thread of Pain

In the second temple game, Chrystine and Jennifer had to collect Aurangzeb's four turbans while avoiding the "Thread of Pain" (swinging boulder). The girls were not allowed to have the swinging boulders touch any part of their body. If a boulder does touch them, they had to start over again and drop their turban. The girl to get four turbans into their team bin first or the one with the most turbans after 60 seconds will win. Chrystine won at the very last second when she placed her third turban into the team bin with a score of 3-2.

Temple Game #3 - Stones in the Quarry

The two players on each team had to work together to collect stones to build the Taj Mahal. One player had to run out and grab a stone and throw it over their head. Their partner had to run out and grab a stone and place it in their team bin. Both players had to synchronize themselves while running out though as one player can mess up their partner if they don't time themselves correctly. The player with the most stones in their bin after 60 seconds will win. In the end, the Green Monkeys had more stones in their bins and gave them a total 1.5 pendants into Olmec's temple.

TEMPLE RUN: 6/10

The Green Monkeys were just an average team in the temple, but their temple run was cut short due to Chrystine missing the  half-pendant. As a frontrunner, Dean was kind of slow and hesitant. He wasted too much time in rooms like the Chamber of the Sacred Markers and Room of the Ancient Warriors. He was taken out in the Shrine as he was placing the base of the Silver Monkey in the front of the room. With a 1:06 left, Chrystine follows Dean's path. She failed to find the half-pendant in the Pit of the Pendulum that was tacked high above the Chamber door. She actually tried looking for it though, so it's not like Chrystine didn't know that it was not there. Instead of wasting more time trying to find the half-pendant, she runs through the cleared rooms all the way to the Shrine. It only takes Chrystine 8 seconds to assemble the Silver Monkey. Granted, Dean helped her assemble part of it. She was forced to enter the Quicksand Bog though and her run ended as she met her final temple guard. Not much to say about this run or team except that this team wouldn't have won even if they found the half-pendant. It was a good effort though, and it was one of the more tolerable triple captures.

FINAL VERDICT: 6.4/10
"Lost Taj Mahal Turban" was pretty much an above average episode that is forgettable. While you might forget that this episode exists sometimes, at the same time though it is a pretty enjoyable watch. The only bad part about this episode is the legend. The plot is nonsense and the characters and voice acting were a joke. Other than that, the other rounds of this episode were good and decent. The temple run did end in triple capture, but it is more forgivable than some of the other triple captures on the show. This Green Monkeys team was not bad at all, and at the end of the day I enjoyed this episode and it is definitely worth rewatching. Of course I would recommend this episode to anyone, but just don't expect something really special or exciting.

The Silver Snakes did NOT make it past the moat in this episode. It was the Orange Iguanas. You might want to fix that. ;)

And this episode was pretty average, I totally agree that the legend was just plain stupid. Needmore Ruppees? What kind of name is that? The temple games were a decent match too, I noticed it shared the same temple games as Mummified Hand. A team that also went to the temple with 1.5 pendants AND had their run end in triple capture. The temple run was kind of dull to me, but it was a good effort. Maybe if Chrystine had gone in first, or if Dean didn't hesitate so much, they would've had a better chance at winning. And I definitely don't blame Chrystine for passing up the half pendant. It was tacked to the Pit walls way too high. The temple run was just like Mystical Spellbook, only the layout was harder.

Overall, great review. I'll probably follow up with Very Tall Turban next. :P

That whole production day in general lacked any variety in temple games. The swinging boulder game was used in all four temple games that day. Not only that, but the knock the solider down temple game was also used in every episode but Madame Tussaud. :o I guess the producers were feeling lazy that day? An yeah, this episode is exactly like Imperial Wizard's layout. Even though Jared was making better time in the Imperial Wizard run, Dean and Chrystine did better since Chrystine was the second runner and got taken out with more time then Katie did in the Quicksand Bog. And I am glad that I am not the only one that doesn't blame Chrystine for missing the half-pendant. She even tried looking for it, but it was tacked way too high above the Chamber. Seriously, what contestant is going to stand all the way up with a small door like that? It's not like Robert the Bruce where Jeremy should've easily found his.

Also, good luck with Ahmed Baba. It was an okay episode, but it should rank around the same score as Taj Mahal Turban. I don't care for that episode or win though. I might have to rewatch that episode again myself because I don't remember much details about it. It's a pretty good episode I guess though. Plus, this episode features Jamie who was the sister of Joel from Enormous Iron Nose Ring. I wonder if she could've matched his speed in the temple? Probably not, but it is pretty cool that a pair of siblings won their runs back to back. :P

And I am doing Poseidon next to get it out of the way.  :mrsilver:

Wrong, the "knock the soldier" game (assuming you mean temple game 1) WAS used in Melted Head. I even reviewed this episode too, and I know for sure it was used. ;) And Ahmed Baba is a pretty average episode. I expect it to also rank in the 6 range. It's a completely average episode, even if they did win and Jamie was related to Joel. I assume Jamie probably would've moved fast had she gotten a chance in the temple.

EDIT: And don't forget to add Taj Mahal Turban to the chart in the OP and remove it from the episode list. ;)
