There should've been an artifact in the Crypt/upper starting room

For this to be possible, combine the season 1 Cave of Sighs, the Crypt (I'll use this upper starting room as an example), the Troubled Bridge, and Olmec's lowering gate. Make it impossible to get into the Crypt via Cave of Sighs and when it comes to Olmec's gate, just have Kirk say "Olmec's gate won't lower for some reason. It must be old and rusty, so you'll have to take the Cave of Sighs in order to grab the item. I'm sure it will open if you grab it." Also make it impossible to get into the center room via The Pit and via room below it. The only way to grab the item is to use the Troubled Bridge-Crypt door.

What do you think of this idea for a Legends temple run if season 4 ever comes to us? I think this could be possible.

Don't worry, I thought about this a few times also. 

It would make an interesting layout, but the path would be too linear. The players would not have any real choices in the run except for trying to take paths upwards. At least the players had a choice of what entrance room to enter in the temple when the artifact is located in other rooms.

Also, doesn't the gate block the Ledges entrance also?

I'm talking about season 1 Cave of Sighs. That's the one where you don't have to take the stairs to begin with.

I think there was some fanfic (by Turbo Barracuda IIRC) where there was supposed to be a wall or a door installed so that you simply couldn't start in the Room of the Three Gargoyles, having to go to the Ledges instead.  That could have made it work in the later seasons.

On a similar note, I'm somewhat surprised they never made the Crypt a dead-end. There's no reason somebody couldn't back up and take the Ledges instead if they had to.

Not sure... Maybe they figured if a player tried heading back from an entrance room, they would be forfeiting and the producers didn't want to create some sort of ambiguous situation like that.  It's a real stretch, but you never know.

It would've been worst if they made the Gargoyles/Gong room a deadend and force the players to run back down the stairs into the Cave of Sighs.

What if it was possible to do the same thing with an artifact, except put it in the other starting room (Ledges or Cave of Sighs)? Make it impossible to enter the cave at the very start of the run and force players to start in the upper starting room and work their way around the temple. Would this work as well?
