I kind if liked fastest finger. I would always try to play along and put them in order.
Oh, I sucked at it.  I never would've gotten on the show that way, so I'd rather get through with the auditions now. :P
Yeah, I was pretty terrible at it too. Unless it was geography related, then there was no way I'd get it. :P

Don't confuse idiocy with rash decisions; he realized his mistake too late.  I can guarantee at least four out of five $0 winners lost because they let their tongues get ahead of their brains, but many of them were quick to realize they should have paused before saying "Final answer."

Which brings me back to the issue of the clock format, which produced more $0 winners than any other period of the show.  That clock added so much pressure while it was there— fifteen seconds is a bit too little for the first few questions, especially since some were a bit trickier than before.

The clock, IMO, was what ruined the show. It really put a lot of pressure on people--were there even any one million dollar winners in the clock era?

Still, that's karma for Paul after saying he was a type A personality.

He didn't even have a clock/timer in that episode. You're right though, no need to rush that question.

One, but it took a gimmick: The Million Dollar Tournament of Ten.

Bear in mind that was the only top prize winner on the syndicated show outside of Season 1.  I think it's safe to say the questions were ramped up too much, and the difficulty just shot up even further with the clock.  But I honestly think we're more likely to get a new millionaire with the shuffle format.

Well, that proves my point then--maybe if they didn't have a clock, there would be a few more million-dollar winners.

I remember hearing about the first female contestant to win a million dollars during the Meredith era (not with the timer). Sadly I didn't see it.

Her name was Nancy Christy; I'd imagine her full run would be on YouTube somewhere. :P

At the very least, the amount of time per question should've been a little greater. :? Maybe thirty seconds for every question from $100/$500 to $1000/$5000; forty-five for every question from $2000/$7500 to $25,000; a minute for $50,000; and up by fifteen-second increments per question from there (with, of course, the banked time added to the two minutes for the $1 million question).

Something like that, anyway.  I actually think most contestants who made it into the second tier handled their time well, with a few exceptions.  But when you get to the last few questions; 45 seconds was really too little time; especially beyond $50,000.

I might check that out sometime. Not now though, my internet is struggling with finding a connection. I'll probably go play a video game while waiting for my internet to go back to normal.

Speaking of video games, does anyone here play them? I've been hooked pretty much my whole life. I think it all started at either 3 or 4 years of age for me. It started with the NES and Sega Genesis. Oh, I enjoyed playing the Mario games with my mom. She owned me as a kid, but the last time we played a Mario game together (2 years ago I think), I kicked her butt. :D
